Premda se nitko nije usudio imenom i prezimenom istupiti, na Kaptolu je očito zavladala velika ogorčenost što je u Rimu za zagrebačkog nadbiskupa izabran Dražen Kutleša.

Naši crkveni moćnici uvrijeđeni su da ih se zaobilazi, da im se nameće nekakav, s oproštenjem, Hercegovac, koji osim toga ne voli Međugorje, a nisu mu zaboravili ni ružnu epizodu kad je on jedan istarski samostan, po Papinu nalogu, oduzeo hrvatskim crkvenim vlastima i vratio talijanskim benediktincima.

Pamtite kako je to bilo, porečki je biskup Ivan Milovan nepopustljivo tvrdio da je samostan Dajla kod Novigrada naša imovina, pa ga je Papa naposljetku smijenio i postavio pouzdanog Kutlešu da provede njegovu volju. Poznavatelji crkvenih prilika razilazili su se u mišljenju tko je ovdje bio u pravu. Većina je hvalila prkosno domoljublje porečkog biskupa, ali bilo je i nekih koji su se stavljali na stranu Pape i talijanskih benediktinaca.

Biskupi prigrlili Tita

I jedni i drugi, međutim, samo su uzgredno i nevoljko spominjali povijesne okolnosti otprije šezdesetak godina, kako se samostan uopće našao u našim rukama? Gdje je počeo spor oko njegova vlasništva?

Neugodno je nešto bilo kazati o tome da su samostan i čitav taj istarski kraj stoljećima bili isključivo talijanski i nikad, ni u najluđim našim snovima, ne bi samostan bio hrvatski da ga u proljeće četrdeset pete, na samom izmaku Drugog svjetskog rata, nisu partizani oružjem osvojili. Naši biskupi svojatali su, da se ne lažemo i ne pretvaramo, nešto do čega su došli zaslugom poznatog komunističkog krvoloka Josipa Broza Tita i njegove đavolske vojske.

Historija, vidite, katkad zna biti vrlo šaljiva. Koliko god neki željeli jasno razgraničiti dobro i zlo, prijatelje i neprijatelje, koji put se to pomiješa. Stvari nisu crne i bijele, već su više nekako šućmuraste, sivkaste. Katolički kler Tita nepodijeljeno drži svojim dušmaninom, ali bilo je opet prilika kad im je on možda iskreno želio najbolje, a oni to nisu znali prepoznati. Ova ogorčenost koju je na Kaptolu izazivalo Kutlešino imenovanje mogla se, na primjer, izbjeći da je crkveni vrh jednom davno poslušao Tita.

Ostanimo još neko vrijeme u četrdeset petoj. Tito je, navodno, predlagao Alojziju Stepincu da se hrvatska crkva odvoji od Rima. “Lojzek, stari moj”, rekao je Tito, dodajući zagrebačkom nadbiskupu čašu viskija, “ajmo i ti i ja otkazati poslušnost stranim gospodarima.

Ja ću kazati historijsko ne onom idiotu Staljinu, a ti kaži historijsko ne onom kretenu Piju Dvanaestom, pa ćemo obojica biti samostalni i suvereni, svoji na svome.”

Papinska nezahvalnost

Stepinac, kao što znamo, to nije želio ni čuti. Ponosno je odbio kucnuti se i nazdraviti s komunističkim vođom. Dok je ovaj na koncu zbilja otkantao Sovjetski Savez i Staljina, zagrebačkog nadbiskupa ni suđenje i robija nisu pokolebali u odanosti Vatikanu. Njegova se ustrajnost danas doživljava nadahnjujućom, herojskom, upravo svetačkom. Ali, tko je zaista takvom smatra? Jedino hrvatska pastva i svećenici. Viša, tuđinska vlast nije, međutim, pretjerano impresionirana. Ravnodušni da je Alojzije Stepinac do smrti ostao uz njih, pape ga već desetljećima uporno, bezobrazno odbijaju proglasiti svecem.

Njihova nezahvalnost sve na Kaptolu, razumljivo, frustrira, ali po duši govoreći, sami su krivi. Da su se po Titovoj preporuci odvojili od Rima, mogli su Stepinca dosad sto puta proglasiti svecem, zabilježiti mu spomendan u katoličkom kalendaru pet minuta nakon što je nadbiskup svoju besmrtnu dušu dao u Božje ruke.

Jednaka je stvar i s istarskim samostanom. Koliko god talijanski benediktinci kmečali, nikad se, majci, oni ne bi vratili u Daliju. Pa i međugorska ukazanja bi odavno bila priznata, brzo i lako, bez odobrenja vatikanskih komisija i podrugljivih primjedbi kako Gospa nije poštarica da šalje poruke.

Na koncu, ni Dražena Kutlešu biskupima nitko ne bi mogao izvana nametnuti, nego bi oni sami izabrali nekoga prikladnijeg, koji je više njihov. Netko bi, da ne duljimo, crkvenom vrhu napokon trebao reći istinu. Momci, imali ste priliku, niste je iskoristili.

Premda se nitko nije usudio imenom i prezimenom istupiti, na Kaptolu je očito zavladala velika ogorčenost što je u Rimu za zagrebačkog nadbiskupa izabran Dražen Kutleša.

Naši crkveni moćnici uvrijeđeni su da ih se zaobilazi, da im se nameće nekakav, s oproštenjem, Hercegovac, koji osim toga ne voli Međugorje, a nisu mu zaboravili ni ružnu epizodu kad je on jedan istarski samostan, po Papinu nalogu, oduzeo hrvatskim crkvenim vlastima i vratio talijanskim benediktincima.

Pamtite kako je to bilo, porečki je biskup Ivan Milovan nepopustljivo tvrdio da je samostan Dajla kod Novigrada naša imovina, pa ga je Papa naposljetku smijenio i postavio pouzdanog Kutlešu da provede njegovu volju. Poznavatelji crkvenih prilika razilazili su se u mišljenju tko je ovdje bio u pravu. Većina je hvalila prkosno domoljublje porečkog biskupa, ali bilo je i nekih koji su se stavljali na stranu Pape i talijanskih benediktinaca.

Biskupi prigrlili Tita

I jedni i drugi, međutim, samo su uzgredno i nevoljko spominjali povijesne okolnosti otprije šezdesetak godina, kako se samostan uopće našao u našim rukama? Gdje je počeo spor oko njegova vlasništva?

Neugodno je nešto bilo kazati o tome da su samostan i čitav taj istarski kraj stoljećima bili isključivo talijanski i nikad, ni u najluđim našim snovima, ne bi samostan bio hrvatski da ga u proljeće četrdeset pete, na samom izmaku Drugog svjetskog rata, nisu partizani oružjem osvojili. Naši biskupi svojatali su, da se ne lažemo i ne pretvaramo, nešto do čega su došli zaslugom poznatog komunističkog krvoloka Josipa Broza Tita i njegove đavolske vojske.

Historija, vidite, katkad zna biti vrlo šaljiva. Koliko god neki željeli jasno razgraničiti dobro i zlo, prijatelje i neprijatelje, koji put se to pomiješa. Stvari nisu crne i bijele, već su više nekako šućmuraste, sivkaste. Katolički kler Tita nepodijeljeno drži svojim dušmaninom, ali bilo je opet prilika kad im je on možda iskreno želio najbolje, a oni to nisu znali prepoznati. Ova ogorčenost koju je na Kaptolu izazivalo Kutlešino imenovanje mogla se, na primjer, izbjeći da je crkveni vrh jednom davno poslušao Tita.

Ostanimo još neko vrijeme u četrdeset petoj. Tito je, navodno, predlagao Alojziju Stepincu da se hrvatska crkva odvoji od Rima. “Lojzek, stari moj”, rekao je Tito, dodajući zagrebačkom nadbiskupu čašu viskija, “ajmo i ti i ja otkazati poslušnost stranim gospodarima.

Ja ću kazati historijsko ne onom idiotu Staljinu, a ti kaži historijsko ne onom kretenu Piju Dvanaestom, pa ćemo obojica biti samostalni i suvereni, svoji na svome.”

Papinska nezahvalnost

Stepinac, kao što znamo, to nije želio ni čuti. Ponosno je odbio kucnuti se i nazdraviti s komunističkim vođom. Dok je ovaj na koncu zbilja otkantao Sovjetski Savez i Staljina, zagrebačkog nadbiskupa ni suđenje i robija nisu pokolebali u odanosti Vatikanu. Njegova se ustrajnost danas doživljava nadahnjujućom, herojskom, upravo svetačkom. Ali, tko je zaista takvom smatra? Jedino hrvatska pastva i svećenici. Viša, tuđinska vlast nije, međutim, pretjerano impresionirana. Ravnodušni da je Alojzije Stepinac do smrti ostao uz njih, pape ga već desetljećima uporno, bezobrazno odbijaju proglasiti svecem.

Njihova nezahvalnost sve na Kaptolu, razumljivo, frustrira, ali po duši govoreći, sami su krivi. Da su se po Titovoj preporuci odvojili od Rima, mogli su Stepinca dosad sto puta proglasiti svecem, zabilježiti mu spomendan u katoličkom kalendaru pet minuta nakon što je nadbiskup svoju besmrtnu dušu dao u Božje ruke.

Jednaka je stvar i s istarskim samostanom. Koliko god talijanski benediktinci kmečali, nikad se, majci, oni ne bi vratili u Daliju. Pa i međugorska ukazanja bi odavno bila priznata, brzo i lako, bez odobrenja vatikanskih komisija i podrugljivih primjedbi kako Gospa nije poštarica da šalje poruke.

Na koncu, ni Dražena Kutlešu biskupima nitko ne bi mogao izvana nametnuti, nego bi oni sami izabrali nekoga prikladnijeg, koji je više njihov. Netko bi, da ne duljimo, crkvenom vrhu napokon trebao reći istinu. Momci, imali ste priliku, niste je iskoristili.
