Pet hrvatskih tenisačica u Top 100? Ne tako davno ta bi rečenica možda zvučala kao nekakva zafrkancija, ali do kraja tekuće godine taj bi se scenarij lako mogao ostvariti. Oduvijek je Hrvatska imala dobre tenisačice, doduše rijetke koje su baš u kontinuitetu igrale na visokoj razini poput Ive Majoli.
Događali su se povremeni bljeskovi naših uzdanica, ali ih nikad nismo imali previše u Top 50 ili Top 100. A sada je situacija takva da bismo 2017. mogli zaključiti s čak pet djevojaka u društvu 100 najboljih na svijetu. Već sad imamo tri. Predvodi ih Mirjana Lučić-Baroni (24.), malo iza nje je Ana Konjuh (28.), a tu je i Donna Vekić (58.), dok su izvan 100 Petra Martić (131.) i Jana Fett (150.).
Dakle, imamo dvije među 30 a uskoro vjerojatno i tri u 50. Respektabilno. Na Raceu, odnosno u poretku rezultata isključivo iz ove godine, već imamo četiri u 100, a peta je Fett na 102. mjestu. To dovoljno govori koliko su cure ove godine napredovale. Uostalom, Mikica je nedavno imala najbolji renking karijere (20.), Ana i Donna upravo ga drže, a i Jana je blizu. Lučić-Baroni u vrh je lansiralo polufinale Australian Opena u siječnju. Napokon je dočekala pravu „eksploziju" na Grand Slamu nakon gotovo 20 godina. Sada se stabilizirala i u drugom dijelu sezone od nje očekujemo još pokoji veliki rezultat, pa i dodatni proboj u Top 20.
Konjuh napreduje korak po korak, a Vekić je briljirala i ugodno iznenadila osvajanjem Nottinghama prošlog vikenda. S obzirom da do kraja sezone nema previše bodova za braniti, ovakvom formom logično je očekivati i skori ulazak među 50. Petra sjajno igra otkako se u travnju vratila nakon skoro godinu dana pauze. U „comeback" je krenula izvan prvih 600, a sada je već 131. Serijom dobrih rezultata i potom osminom finala na Roland Garrosu (prokockanih 5:2 u trećem setu protiv Svitoline) opet se najavila na velikoj sceni i s nestrpljenjem čekamo njezine nove nastupe. Ako ovako nastavi, Top 100 bit će samo formalnost, ali priželjkujemo i više od toga. Petra to može. A Fett također igra sve bolje, zanimljiva je.
Ove godine ima polufinale Hobarta i još par zapaženih rezultata. I ona je poput Petre propustila veliki dio prošle godine zbog ozljede pa nema veliki imperativ obrane bodova. Iako je jučer ispala u kvalifikacijama Birminghama, na „live" renkingu ima 142. mjesto, što joj je najbolji plasman karijere. A sezonu je započela izvan Top 300. A u cijeloj ovoj priči možemo dodati i Ajlu Tomljanović (293.) premda ona na Touru igra pod hrvatskom zastavom, a na Grand Slamovima pod australskom.
U svakom slučaju, hrvatski ženski tenis se budi, a bilo bi lijepo kad bi se ovaj mini-preporod uskoro prenio i na Fed Cup reprezentaciju.

Pet hrvatskih tenisačica u Top 100? Ne tako davno ta bi rečenica možda zvučala kao nekakva zafrkancija, ali do kraja tekuće godine taj bi se scenarij lako mogao ostvariti. Oduvijek je Hrvatska imala dobre tenisačice, doduše rijetke koje su baš u kontinuitetu igrale na visokoj razini poput Ive Majoli.
Događali su se povremeni bljeskovi naših uzdanica, ali ih nikad nismo imali previše u Top 50 ili Top 100. A sada je situacija takva da bismo 2017. mogli zaključiti s čak pet djevojaka u društvu 100 najboljih na svijetu. Već sad imamo tri. Predvodi ih Mirjana Lučić-Baroni (24.), malo iza nje je Ana Konjuh (28.), a tu je i Donna Vekić (58.), dok su izvan 100 Petra Martić (131.) i Jana Fett (150.).
Dakle, imamo dvije među 30 a uskoro vjerojatno i tri u 50. Respektabilno. Na Raceu, odnosno u poretku rezultata isključivo iz ove godine, već imamo četiri u 100, a peta je Fett na 102. mjestu. To dovoljno govori koliko su cure ove godine napredovale. Uostalom, Mikica je nedavno imala najbolji renking karijere (20.), Ana i Donna upravo ga drže, a i Jana je blizu. Lučić-Baroni u vrh je lansiralo polufinale Australian Opena u siječnju. Napokon je dočekala pravu „eksploziju" na Grand Slamu nakon gotovo 20 godina. Sada se stabilizirala i u drugom dijelu sezone od nje očekujemo još pokoji veliki rezultat, pa i dodatni proboj u Top 20.
Konjuh napreduje korak po korak, a Vekić je briljirala i ugodno iznenadila osvajanjem Nottinghama prošlog vikenda. S obzirom da do kraja sezone nema previše bodova za braniti, ovakvom formom logično je očekivati i skori ulazak među 50. Petra sjajno igra otkako se u travnju vratila nakon skoro godinu dana pauze. U „comeback" je krenula izvan prvih 600, a sada je već 131. Serijom dobrih rezultata i potom osminom finala na Roland Garrosu (prokockanih 5:2 u trećem setu protiv Svitoline) opet se najavila na velikoj sceni i s nestrpljenjem čekamo njezine nove nastupe. Ako ovako nastavi, Top 100 bit će samo formalnost, ali priželjkujemo i više od toga. Petra to može. A Fett također igra sve bolje, zanimljiva je.
Ove godine ima polufinale Hobarta i još par zapaženih rezultata. I ona je poput Petre propustila veliki dio prošle godine zbog ozljede pa nema veliki imperativ obrane bodova. Iako je jučer ispala u kvalifikacijama Birminghama, na „live" renkingu ima 142. mjesto, što joj je najbolji plasman karijere. A sezonu je započela izvan Top 300. A u cijeloj ovoj priči možemo dodati i Ajlu Tomljanović (293.) premda ona na Touru igra pod hrvatskom zastavom, a na Grand Slamovima pod australskom.
U svakom slučaju, hrvatski ženski tenis se budi, a bilo bi lijepo kad bi se ovaj mini-preporod uskoro prenio i na Fed Cup reprezentaciju.
