Otkako je termin prvi još 1967. upotrijebio američki fizičar John Archibald Weeler jer mu se izraz "gravitacijski potpuno urušeno tijelo", koji se dotad koristio, činio previše "grbav", o crnim rupama svijet raspravlja, što u znanstvenim, što u popularnim časopisima, često i na rubu mističnoga. Nedavna odluka švedske Akademije da Nobelovu nagradu za fiziku ove godine dodijeli znanstvenicima koji su čitav svoj život posvetili upravo crnim rupama u svemiru, ovom je intrigantnom fenomenu dala najvišu potvrdu važnosti.

Britanski znanstvenik sir Roger Penrose pokazao je kako crna rupa nastaje, a Nijemac Reinhard Genzel i Amerikanka Andrea Ghez otkrili su crnu rupu u središtu naše galaksije, u zviježđu Strijelca. Ta crna rupa nije vidljiva izravno ne samo zato što je mala, nego i zato što je zaklonjena oblacima plina i prašine, a njezine karakteristike mogu se izvesti iz gibanja obližnjih zvijezda koje se opažaju u infracrvenom području. Kroz plin i prašinu infracrveno zračenje, naime, lakše prolazi od "obične" svjetlosti, kao što kroz maglu lakše prolazi žuta svjetlost nego plava pa su zato i svjetla za vožnju kroz maglu žuta.

Još su krajem 18. stoljeća engleski geolog John Michell i francuski astronom Pierre Simone Laplace, nezavisno jedan od drugoga, došli na misao o mogućem postojanju "tamnih zvijezda", čija je gravitacija tako jaka da ništa s njih ne može pobjeći. "Ako je tijelo dovoljno veliko i gusto, ništa s njega ne bi moglo pobjeći", kazao je Laplace, koji je došao do toga zaključka razmišljajući o brzini oslobađanja, odnosno o brzini potrebnoj da neki projektil pobjegne gravitaciji nebeskog tijela.

Najjednostavnije rečeno, crna rupa je koncentracija materije u svemiru koja ima tako veliku masu da je njezino gravitacijsko polje toliko jako da potpuno zakrivi prostor-vrijeme oko sebe tako da ništa ne može "pobjeći", čak ni svjetlost. No, zašto je to uopće važno?

Sir Roger Penrose, kojem je pripala polovica novčanog iznosa Nobelove nagrade, dakle 550 tisuća dolara, tvrdi, naime, kako je postojao i raniji svemir od ovoga našeg, a dokazi za njegovo postojanje mogu se iščitavati upravo iz crnih rupa. Penrose tvrdi da je postojanje neobjašnjivih mrlja elektromagnetskog zračenja na nebu, poznatih kao "Hawkingove točke", koje su ime dobile po Stephenu Hawkingu, inače Penroseovu nekadašnjem studentu, zapravo ostatak svemira koji je prethodio ovom današnjem.

Naime, te bi mrlje trebale biti posljednji tragovi energije nazvani "Hawkingovo zračenje", a koji pomoću crnih rupa dolaze iz starijeg svemira.

- Veliki prasak nije bio početak. Bilo je nečega prije Velikog praska i to je nešto što će se dogoditi i u budućnosti - tvrdi Penrose, stavljajući na kušnju sve ono što smo u školi učili o postanku svemira.

- Naš svemir se neprestano širi, a sva masa u njemu propada. U ovoj mojoj ludoj teoriji ta daleka budućnost postaje Veliki prasak nekog drugog eona, kako nazivamo najduža razdoblja u geološkoj povijesti svemira. Stoga je naš Veliki prasak započeo nečim što je bila daleka budućnost prethodnog eona. Dakle, crne rupe slične današnjima isparavale bi "Hawkingovo zračenje" i proizvele bi točke na nebu koje smo nazvali "Hawkingove točke" - ponovio je 89-godišnji Penrose, nakon što je obznanjeno da je dobio Nobelovu nagradu. Stephen Hawking nije dijelio mišljenje svoga nekadašnjeg profesora, a o svome međusobnom znanstvenome neslaganju zajedno su napisali i knjigu "O prirodi prostora i vremena", koja je prevedena i na hrvatski.

- Crne rupe u matematičkim su izračunima bile odbačene dok njihovo postojanje nije potvrđeno u stvarnosti - kaže Penrose.

Ljudi su bili vrlo skeptični i trebalo je puno vremena prije nego što su crne rupe prihvaćene kao realna činjenica.

Koliko će godina proći dok svijet, sada i uz pečat Nobela, prihvati Penroseove teorije, teško je reći. No, odluka švedske Akademije svakako pojačava uvjerljivost i Penrosea i Reinharda Genzela i Andree Ghez koje je ujedinila enigma crne rupe.

Otkako je termin prvi još 1967. upotrijebio američki fizičar John Archibald Weeler jer mu se izraz "gravitacijski potpuno urušeno tijelo", koji se dotad koristio, činio previše "grbav", o crnim rupama svijet raspravlja, što u znanstvenim, što u popularnim časopisima, često i na rubu mističnoga. Nedavna odluka švedske Akademije da Nobelovu nagradu za fiziku ove godine dodijeli znanstvenicima koji su čitav svoj život posvetili upravo crnim rupama u svemiru, ovom je intrigantnom fenomenu dala najvišu potvrdu važnosti.

Britanski znanstvenik sir Roger Penrose pokazao je kako crna rupa nastaje, a Nijemac Reinhard Genzel i Amerikanka Andrea Ghez otkrili su crnu rupu u središtu naše galaksije, u zviježđu Strijelca. Ta crna rupa nije vidljiva izravno ne samo zato što je mala, nego i zato što je zaklonjena oblacima plina i prašine, a njezine karakteristike mogu se izvesti iz gibanja obližnjih zvijezda koje se opažaju u infracrvenom području. Kroz plin i prašinu infracrveno zračenje, naime, lakše prolazi od "obične" svjetlosti, kao što kroz maglu lakše prolazi žuta svjetlost nego plava pa su zato i svjetla za vožnju kroz maglu žuta.

Još su krajem 18. stoljeća engleski geolog John Michell i francuski astronom Pierre Simone Laplace, nezavisno jedan od drugoga, došli na misao o mogućem postojanju "tamnih zvijezda", čija je gravitacija tako jaka da ništa s njih ne može pobjeći. "Ako je tijelo dovoljno veliko i gusto, ništa s njega ne bi moglo pobjeći", kazao je Laplace, koji je došao do toga zaključka razmišljajući o brzini oslobađanja, odnosno o brzini potrebnoj da neki projektil pobjegne gravitaciji nebeskog tijela.

Najjednostavnije rečeno, crna rupa je koncentracija materije u svemiru koja ima tako veliku masu da je njezino gravitacijsko polje toliko jako da potpuno zakrivi prostor-vrijeme oko sebe tako da ništa ne može "pobjeći", čak ni svjetlost. No, zašto je to uopće važno?

Sir Roger Penrose, kojem je pripala polovica novčanog iznosa Nobelove nagrade, dakle 550 tisuća dolara, tvrdi, naime, kako je postojao i raniji svemir od ovoga našeg, a dokazi za njegovo postojanje mogu se iščitavati upravo iz crnih rupa. Penrose tvrdi da je postojanje neobjašnjivih mrlja elektromagnetskog zračenja na nebu, poznatih kao "Hawkingove točke", koje su ime dobile po Stephenu Hawkingu, inače Penroseovu nekadašnjem studentu, zapravo ostatak svemira koji je prethodio ovom današnjem.

Naime, te bi mrlje trebale biti posljednji tragovi energije nazvani "Hawkingovo zračenje", a koji pomoću crnih rupa dolaze iz starijeg svemira.

- Veliki prasak nije bio početak. Bilo je nečega prije Velikog praska i to je nešto što će se dogoditi i u budućnosti - tvrdi Penrose, stavljajući na kušnju sve ono što smo u školi učili o postanku svemira.

- Naš svemir se neprestano širi, a sva masa u njemu propada. U ovoj mojoj ludoj teoriji ta daleka budućnost postaje Veliki prasak nekog drugog eona, kako nazivamo najduža razdoblja u geološkoj povijesti svemira. Stoga je naš Veliki prasak započeo nečim što je bila daleka budućnost prethodnog eona. Dakle, crne rupe slične današnjima isparavale bi "Hawkingovo zračenje" i proizvele bi točke na nebu koje smo nazvali "Hawkingove točke" - ponovio je 89-godišnji Penrose, nakon što je obznanjeno da je dobio Nobelovu nagradu. Stephen Hawking nije dijelio mišljenje svoga nekadašnjeg profesora, a o svome međusobnom znanstvenome neslaganju zajedno su napisali i knjigu "O prirodi prostora i vremena", koja je prevedena i na hrvatski.

- Crne rupe u matematičkim su izračunima bile odbačene dok njihovo postojanje nije potvrđeno u stvarnosti - kaže Penrose.

Ljudi su bili vrlo skeptični i trebalo je puno vremena prije nego što su crne rupe prihvaćene kao realna činjenica.

Koliko će godina proći dok svijet, sada i uz pečat Nobela, prihvati Penroseove teorije, teško je reći. No, odluka švedske Akademije svakako pojačava uvjerljivost i Penrosea i Reinharda Genzela i Andree Ghez koje je ujedinila enigma crne rupe.
