Tamarind (Tamarindus indica) je tropsko voće koje je kod nas relativno nepoznato. S druge strane, vrlo je popularan u afričkim i azijskim kuhinjama, uključujući indijsku i bliskoistočnu. Često se koristi za pripremu umaka koji jelima daju zanimljiv, slatkast, ali istovremeno blago pikantan okus, kao i slastica i raznih pića. Tamarind, koji je nešto posebno zbog svog oblika - plod je skriven u mahuni - nije cijenjen samo zbog posebnog okusa, već i zbog zdravstvenih dobrobiti koje može donijeti redovita konzumacija ovog voća.
1. Izvrstan izvor magnezija
Tamarind sadrži puno magnezija – minerala koji sudjeluje u nizu procesa u našem tijelu. Između ostalog, magnezij je neophodan za optimalno funkcioniranje mišićnog i živčanog sustava. Nedostatak magnezija može dovesti do grčeva u mišićima i povezane boli, tjeskobe, nesanice i srodnih problema.

2. Pozitivan utjecaj na živčani sustav
Osim magnezija, za pozitivan utjecaj tamarinda na živčani sustav zaslužni su i vitamini B skupine, uključujući tiamin (vitamin B1). Konzumiranje tamarinda u različitim oblicima tako može smanjiti rizik od oštećenja živčanog sustava i povezanih neugodnih simptoma.

Vitamin C je također izuzetno snažan antioksidans, tj. tvar koja pomaže neutralizirati negativne učinke slobodnih radikala. Tamarind (Tamarindus indica) je tropsko voće koje je kod nas relativno nepoznato. S druge strane, vrlo je popularan u afričkim i azijskim kuhinjama, uključujući indijsku i bliskoistočnu. Često se koristi za pripremu umaka koji jelima daju zanimljiv, slatkast, ali istovremeno blago pikantan okus, kao i slastica i raznih pića. Tamarind, koji je nešto posebno zbog svog oblika - plod je skriven u mahuni - nije cijenjen samo zbog posebnog okusa, već i zbog zdravstvenih dobrobiti koje može donijeti redovita konzumacija ovog voća.
1. Izvrstan izvor magnezija
Tamarind sadrži puno magnezija – minerala koji sudjeluje u nizu procesa u našem tijelu. Između ostalog, magnezij je neophodan za optimalno funkcioniranje mišićnog i živčanog sustava. Nedostatak magnezija može dovesti do grčeva u mišićima i povezane boli, tjeskobe, nesanice i srodnih problema.

2. Pozitivan utjecaj na živčani sustav
Osim magnezija, za pozitivan utjecaj tamarinda na živčani sustav zaslužni su i vitamini B skupine, uključujući tiamin (vitamin B1). Konzumiranje tamarinda u različitim oblicima tako može smanjiti rizik od oštećenja živčanog sustava i povezanih neugodnih simptoma.
3. Regulacija kolesterola i krvnog tlaka
Tamarind može biti vrlo koristan za kardiovaskularni sustav. Sadrži puno vlakana koja mogu potaknuti uklanjanje viška štetnog kolesterola iz tijela. Vlakna su važna i za snižavanje krvnog tlaka koji je, kao i povišeni kolesterol, jedan od glavnih čimbenika rizika za kronične kardiovaskularne bolesti.
4. Pomoć kod suhih očiju
Suha sluznica oka može izazvati vrlo neugodne senzacije. Na prvi pogled to izgleda pomalo čudno, ali tamarind može pomoći i kod ovakvih problema. Ekstrakti sjemenki tamarinde koriste se za izradu kapi za oči namijenjenih ublažavanju ili prevenciji problema sa suhim očima.

5. Jači imunološki sustav
Tamarinda sadrži puno vitamina C - vitamina koji je, između ostalog, vrlo važan za optimalno funkcioniranje našeg imunološkog sustava. Prehrana tamarindom tako može pomoći u uspješnijem prevladavanju raznih infekcija.
6. Mlađa koža
Vitamin C je također izuzetno snažan antioksidans, tj. tvar koja pomaže neutralizirati negativne učinke slobodnih radikala. Antioksidansi su važni za smanjenje rizika od raznih kroničnih bolesti koje su povezane s oksidativnim stresom. Istovremeno pomažu u usporavanju procesa starenja. Tamarind tako može pridonijeti i mladolikoj koži. Tome pridonosi i činjenica da je vitamin C neophodan za stvaranje kolagena - iznimno važnog strukturnog proteina koji osigurava zategnutu, elastičnu kožu.

7. Protuupalno djelovanje
Od tamarinda se može napraviti ulje koje se može pohvaliti vrlo izraženim protuupalnim djelovanjem. Dakle, radi se o ulju koje se može koristiti za ublažavanje najrazličitijih tegoba povezanih s neodgovarajućim upalnim odgovorom organizma. Između ostalog, ulje može pomoći i kod artritisa (može se njime masirati bolne zglobove).
8. Suzbijanje apetita i usporavanje skladištenja masti
Vrlo jak apetit može uvelike spriječiti mršavljenje, ali srećom postoje učinkovita prirodna rješenja za suzbijanje apetita. Jedan od najboljih izbora je tamarind. Ovo je korisno za kontrolu gladi, jer pridonosi povećanju količine serotonina u tijelu. Ujedno je izvrstan izvor hidroksilimunske kiseline – tvari koja inhibira djelovanje enzima odgovornog za skladištenje masti u tijelu.
