Umro je bahreinski šeik Khalifa bin Salman al Khalifa, najdugovječniji premijer na svijetu i saveznik Saudijske Arabije i Sjedinjenih Država, objavila je u srijedu kraljevska palača.

Šeik Khalifa, dominatna ličnost zaljevske politike u gotovo pola stoljeća na vlasti, umro je u srijedu ujutro u bolnici Mayo Clinic u SAD-u, objavila je bahreinska državna novinska agencija.

Khalifa (84), ujak kralja Hamada bin Isa al Khalife, služio je kao premijer otkako je otočno kraljevstvo predvođeno sunitskim muslimanima proglasilo neovisnost od Velike Britanije 1971. Obitelj al Khalifa na vlasti je od 1783. 

Njegov oštar odgovor na prodemokratske prosvjede u Bahreinu 2011. i njegova kritika sličnim nemirima u arapskom svijetu naglasili su ono što mnogi navode obilježjem njegove političke karijere, a to je čvrsta obrana dinastičke vladavine.

Šeik Khalifa je u kolovozu otputovao iz Bahreina, a službeni mediji tada su pisali da je otišao u "privatni posjet inozemstvu".

Početkom ove godine bio je u Njemačkoj na liječenju, ali nije navedeno kakvom te se vratio u Bahrein u ožujku.

Bit će pokopan u krugu obitelji, objavila je državna novinska agencija.

Proglašena je žalost na tjedan dana, a vladina ministarstva i odjeli zatvorit će se od četvrtka na tri dana.

Bahrein je saveznik SAD-a i u njemu je smještena baza pete flote američke mornarice.

Umro je bahreinski šeik Khalifa bin Salman al Khalifa, najdugovječniji premijer na svijetu i saveznik Saudijske Arabije i Sjedinjenih Država, objavila je u srijedu kraljevska palača.

Šeik Khalifa, dominatna ličnost zaljevske politike u gotovo pola stoljeća na vlasti, umro je u srijedu ujutro u bolnici Mayo Clinic u SAD-u, objavila je bahreinska državna novinska agencija.

Khalifa (84), ujak kralja Hamada bin Isa al Khalife, služio je kao premijer otkako je otočno kraljevstvo predvođeno sunitskim muslimanima proglasilo neovisnost od Velike Britanije 1971. Obitelj al Khalifa na vlasti je od 1783. 

Njegov oštar odgovor na prodemokratske prosvjede u Bahreinu 2011. i njegova kritika sličnim nemirima u arapskom svijetu naglasili su ono što mnogi navode obilježjem njegove političke karijere, a to je čvrsta obrana dinastičke vladavine.

Šeik Khalifa je u kolovozu otputovao iz Bahreina, a službeni mediji tada su pisali da je otišao u "privatni posjet inozemstvu".

Početkom ove godine bio je u Njemačkoj na liječenju, ali nije navedeno kakvom te se vratio u Bahrein u ožujku.

Bit će pokopan u krugu obitelji, objavila je državna novinska agencija.

Proglašena je žalost na tjedan dana, a vladina ministarstva i odjeli zatvorit će se od četvrtka na tri dana.

Bahrein je saveznik SAD-a i u njemu je smještena baza pete flote američke mornarice.

Umro je bahreinski šeik Khalifa bin Salman al Khalifa, najdugovječniji premijer na svijetu i saveznik Saudijske Arabije i Sjedinjenih Država, objavila je u srijedu kraljevska palača.

Šeik Khalifa, dominatna ličnost zaljevske politike u gotovo pola stoljeća na vlasti, umro je u srijedu ujutro u bolnici Mayo Clinic u SAD-u, objavila je bahreinska državna novinska agencija.

Khalifa (84), ujak kralja Hamada bin Isa al Khalife, služio je kao premijer otkako je otočno kraljevstvo predvođeno sunitskim muslimanima proglasilo neovisnost od Velike Britanije 1971. Obitelj al Khalifa na vlasti je od 1783. 

Njegov oštar odgovor na prodemokratske prosvjede u Bahreinu 2011. i njegova kritika sličnim nemirima u arapskom svijetu naglasili su ono što mnogi navode obilježjem njegove političke...
