Bivši dugogodišnji kosovski politički zatvorenik Adem Demaci, poznat među kosovskim Albancima kao kosovski Mandela zbog svojeg dugogodišnjeg otpora srpskoj vlasti, umro je u četvrtak u 82. godini, objavili su kosovski dužnosnici. 

Demaci je proveo 28 godina u srbijanskim zatvorima u vrijeme bivše Jugoslavije i za većinske Albance na Kosovu predstavljao je simbol borbe protiv komunističke Jugoslavije i kasnije Srbije, a za veća prava i neovisnost Kosova, tada jugoslavenske pokrajine.

"Teško je prihvatiti da je simbol našeg otpora otišao. Uvijek je bio nesalomljiv i dosljedan u suočenju s bilo kakvim izazovom", napisao je kosovski predsjednik Hashim Thaci na Facebooku.

Kosovski predsjednik proglasio je povodom Demacijeve smrti trodnevnu žalost.

Nakon što je 1990. pušten iz zatvora Demaci je do 1995. djelovao kako aktivist za ljudska prava, baveći se kršenjima ljudskih prava u vrijeme režima Slobodana Miloševića.

Godine 1991. dobio je za svoju borbu za ljudska prava nagradu Andrej Saharov, koju dodjeljuje Europski parlament.
Kasnih 90-ih godina Demaci je bio čelnik političkog ureda Kosovske oslobodilačke vojske koja je ratovala s Miloševićevim režimom.

Kosovo je proglasilo neovisnost 2008. i do sada ga je priznalo 115 zemalja, među kojima 23 od 28 članica EU, no članstvo u Ujedinjenim narodima blokiraju saveznici Srbije Rusija i Kina.

Bivši dugogodišnji kosovski politički zatvorenik Adem Demaci, poznat među kosovskim Albancima kao kosovski Mandela zbog svojeg dugogodišnjeg otpora srpskoj vlasti, umro je u četvrtak u 82. godini, objavili su kosovski dužnosnici. 

Demaci je proveo 28 godina u srbijanskim zatvorima u vrijeme bivše Jugoslavije i za većinske Albance na Kosovu predstavljao je simbol borbe protiv komunističke Jugoslavije i kasnije Srbije, a za veća prava i neovisnost Kosova, tada jugoslavenske pokrajine.

"Teško je prihvatiti da je simbol našeg otpora otišao. Uvijek je bio nesalomljiv i dosljedan u suočenju s bilo kakvim izazovom", napisao je kosovski predsjednik Hashim Thaci na Facebooku.

Kosovski predsjednik proglasio je povodom Demacijeve smrti trodnevnu žalost.

Nakon što je 1990. pušten iz zatvora Demaci je do 1995. djelovao kako aktivist za ljudska prava, baveći se kršenjima ljudskih prava u vrijeme režima Slobodana Miloševića.

Godine 1991. dobio je za svoju borbu za ljudska prava nagradu Andrej Saharov, koju dodjeljuje Europski parlament.
Kasnih 90-ih godina Demaci je bio čelnik političkog ureda Kosovske oslobodilačke vojske koja je ratovala s Miloševićevim režimom.

Kosovo je proglasilo neovisnost 2008. i do sada ga je priznalo 115 zemalja, među kojima 23 od 28 članica EU, no članstvo u Ujedinjenim narodima blokiraju saveznici Srbije Rusija i Kina.

Bivši dugogodišnji kosovski politički zatvorenik Adem Demaci, poznat među kosovskim Albancima kao kosovski Mandela zbog svojeg dugogodišnjeg otpora srpskoj vlasti, umro je u četvrtak u 82. godini, objavili su kosovski dužnosnici.
