Turska je u nedjelju počela glasati na izborima koji bi mogli svrgnuti predsjednika Tayyipa Erdogana nakon 20 godina na vlasti i zaustaviti njegov sve autoritarniji put.
Glasovanje će odlučiti ne samo o tome tko će voditi Tursku, zemlju članicu NATO-a od 85 milijuna stanovnika, nego i kako će se njome upravljati, kamo ide njezino gospodarstvo usred duboke krize troškova života i kako će izgledati njezina vanjska politika obilježena nepredvidivim zaokretima.
Ankete daju Erdoganovu glavnom protukandidatu Kemalu Kilicdarogluu, koji predvodi savez šest oporbenih stranaka, blagu prednost. Ako nijedan od njih ne dobije više od 50 posto glasova, bit će drugog kruga izbora 28. svibnja.
Izbori se održavaju tri mjeseca nakon što su potresi u jugoistočnoj Turskoj usmrtili više od 50.000 ljudi. Mnogi u pogođenim pokrajinama izrazili su ljutnju zbog spore početne reakcije vlade, ali malo je dokaza da je to pitanje promijenilo način na koji će ljudi glasovati.
Glasači će također izabrati novi parlament, vjerojatno u tijesnoj utrci između Narodnog saveza koji se sastoji od Erdoganove konzervativne stranke islamističkih korijena AKP, nacionalističkog MHP-a i drugih, te Kilicdarogluovog Nacionalnog saveza sastavljenog od šest oporbenih stranaka, uključujući njegovu sekularističku Republikansku narodnu stranku (CHP), koju je osnovao utemeljitelj moderne Turske Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.
Birališta su otvorena u 7 sati, a zatvaraju se u 16 sati. Prema turskom izbornom zakonu, izvješćivanje o bilo kakvim rezultatima je zabranjeno do 20 sati. Kasno u nedjelju mogli bi biti objavljeni dobri pokazatelji hoće li biti drugog kruga predsjedničkih izbora.
Kurdski birači, koji čine 15-20 posto biračkog tijela, igrat će ključnu ulogu.
Nacionalni savez vjerojatno neće sam postići parlamentarnu većinu.
Prokurdska Narodna demokratska stranka (HDP) nije dio glavnog oporbenog saveza, ali se žestoko protivi Erdoganu nakon njegova obračuna s njezinim članovima posljednjih godina.
HDP je dao podršku Kilicdarogluu u predsjedničkoj utrci.
U parlamentarne izbore ulazi pod amblemom male stranke Zelene ljevice zbog sudskog postupka koji je pokrenuo visoki tužitelj koji traži zabranu HDP-a zbog povezanosti s kurdskim militantima, što stranka negira.
Kraj ere?
Erdogan (69), uvjerljiv je govornik i majstor kampanje koji je napravio sve što se može u kampanji dok se bori da preživi najteži politički ispit.
Traži žestoku lojalnost pobožnih Turaka koji su se nekoć osjećali obespravljeno u sekularnoj Turskoj, a njegova politička karijera preživjela je pokušaj državnog udara 2016. i brojne korupcijske skandale.
Ako Turci svrgnu Erdogana, to će biti uglavnom zato što su gledali kako njihov prosperitet, jednakopravnost i mogućnost da zadovolje osnovne potrebe padaju, s inflacijom koja je prešla 85 posto u listopadu 2022. i kolapsom valute lire.
Kilicdaroglu, 74-godišnji bivši državni službenik, obećava da će, ako pobijedi, promijeniti ekonomsku politiku zemlje.
Kilicdaroglu također kaže da će nastojati vratiti zemlju na parlamentarni sustav upravljanja, s Erdoganova predsjedničkog sustava usvojenog na referendumu 2017.
Također je obećao vratiti neovisnost pravosuđa koje je, prema kritičarima, Erdogan koristio za obračune s neistomišljenicima.
U vrijeme dok je bio na vlasti, Erdogan je preuzeo čvrstu kontrolu nad većinom turskih institucija i potisnuo liberale i kritičare.
Human Rights Watch je u globalnom izvješću za 2022. rekao da je Erdoganova vlada desetljećima unazadila Tursku na polju ljudskih prava.
Ako pobijedi, Kilicdaroglu se suočava s izazovima u održavanju ujedinjenog oporbenog saveza koji uključuje nacionaliste, islamiste, sekulariste i liberale.

Turska je u nedjelju počela glasati na izborima koji bi mogli svrgnuti predsjednika Tayyipa Erdogana nakon 20 godina na vlasti i zaustaviti njegov sve autoritarniji put.
Glasovanje će odlučiti ne samo o tome tko će voditi Tursku, zemlju članicu NATO-a od 85 milijuna stanovnika, nego i kako će se njome upravljati, kamo ide njezino gospodarstvo usred duboke krize troškova života i kako će izgledati njezina vanjska politika obilježena nepredvidivim zaokretima.
Ankete daju Erdoganovu glavnom protukandidatu Kemalu Kilicdarogluu, koji predvodi savez šest oporbenih stranaka, blagu prednost. Ako nijedan od njih ne dobije više od 50 posto glasova, bit će drugog kruga izbora 28. svibnja.
Izbori se održavaju tri mjeseca nakon što su potresi u jugoistočnoj Turskoj usmrtili više od 50.000 ljudi. Mnogi u pogođenim pokrajinama izrazili su ljutnju zbog spore početne reakcije vlade, ali malo je dokaza da je to pitanje promijenilo način na koji će ljudi glasovati.
Glasači će također izabrati novi parlament, vjerojatno u tijesnoj utrci između Narodnog saveza koji se sastoji od Erdoganove konzervativne stranke islamističkih korijena AKP, nacionalističkog MHP-a i drugih, te Kilicdarogluovog Nacionalnog saveza sastavljenog od šest oporbenih stranaka, uključujući njegovu sekularističku Republikansku narodnu stranku (CHP), koju je osnovao utemeljitelj moderne Turske Mustafa Kemal Ataturk.
Birališta su otvorena u 7 sati, a zatvaraju se u 16 sati. Prema turskom izbornom zakonu, izvješćivanje o bilo kakvim rezultatima je zabranjeno do 20 sati. Kasno u nedjelju mogli bi biti objavljeni dobri pokazatelji hoće li biti drugog kruga predsjedničkih izbora.
Kurdski birači, koji čine 15-20 posto biračkog tijela, igrat će ključnu ulogu.
Nacionalni savez vjerojatno neće sam postići parlamentarnu većinu.
Prokurdska Narodna demokratska stranka (HDP) nije dio glavnog oporbenog saveza, ali se žestoko protivi Erdoganu nakon njegova obračuna s njezinim članovima posljednjih godina.
HDP je dao podršku Kilicdarogluu u predsjedničkoj utrci.
U parlamentarne izbore ulazi pod amblemom male stranke Zelene ljevice zbog sudskog postupka koji je pokrenuo visoki tužitelj koji traži zabranu HDP-a zbog povezanosti s kurdskim militantima, što stranka negira.
Kraj ere?
Erdogan (69), uvjerljiv je govornik i majstor kampanje koji je napravio sve što se može u kampanji dok se bori da preživi najteži politički ispit.
Traži žestoku lojalnost pobožnih Turaka koji su se nekoć osjećali obespravljeno u sekularnoj Turskoj, a njegova politička karijera preživjela je pokušaj državnog udara 2016. i brojne korupcijske skandale.
Ako Turci svrgnu Erdogana, to će biti uglavnom zato što su gledali kako njihov prosperitet, jednakopravnost i mogućnost da zadovolje osnovne potrebe padaju, s inflacijom koja je prešla 85 posto u listopadu 2022. i kolapsom valute lire.
Kilicdaroglu, 74-godišnji bivši državni službenik, obećava da će, ako pobijedi, promijeniti ekonomsku politiku zemlje.
Kilicdaroglu također kaže da će nastojati vratiti zemlju na parlamentarni sustav upravljanja, s Erdoganova predsjedničkog sustava usvojenog na referendumu 2017.
Također je obećao vratiti neovisnost pravosuđa koje je, prema kritičarima, Erdogan koristio za obračune s neistomišljenicima.
U vrijeme dok je bio na vlasti, Erdogan je preuzeo čvrstu kontrolu nad većinom turskih institucija i potisnuo liberale i kritičare.
Human Rights Watch je u globalnom izvješću za 2022. rekao da je Erdoganova vlada desetljećima unazadila Tursku na polju ljudskih prava.
Ako pobijedi, Kilicdaroglu se suočava s izazovima u održavanju ujedinjenog oporbenog saveza koji uključuje nacionaliste, islamiste, sekulariste i liberale.
