Prvo medicinsko ispitivanje na svijetu u kojemu je dozvoljeno namjerno izlaganje ispitanika koronavirusu traži dobrovoljce radi razvoja boljih cjepiva.

Istraživanje Sveučilišta u Oxfordu pokrenuto je prošlog travnja, tri mjeseca nakon što je Britanija postala prva zemlja koja je odobrila ispitivanja covida-19 na ljudima.

Njegova prva faza, koja je još uvijek u tijeku, usredotočena je na otkrivanje količine virusa koja je potrebna za izazivanje infekcije, dok će druga imati za cilj odrediti imunosni odgovor potreban da se spriječi zaraza, objavilo je sveučilište u priopćenju.

Znanstvenici su blizu utvrđivanja najslabije moguće infekcije virusom koja osigurava da oko polovice ljudi koji su mu izloženi dobiju asimptomatski ili blagi covid-19.

Zatim planiraju izložiti dobrovoljce - sve prethodno prirodno zaražene ili cijepljene - toj dozi izvorne varijante virusa kako bi utvrdili koje su razine antitijela ili imunosnih T-stanica potrebne za sprječavanje infekcije.

"To je imunosni odgovor koji tada trebamo potaknuti novim cjepivom", rekla je Helen McShane, profesorica na Sveučilištu Oxford i voditeljica studije.

Nalazi istraživanja pomoći će da budući razvoj cjepiva bude mnogo brži i učinkovitiji, stoji u priopćenju.

Imunolozi u svijetu pokušavaju točno odrediti razinu imunosne reakcije koju cjepivo mora izazvati kako bi se zaštitilo od bolesti.

Kada se jednom ta razina otkrije, potreba za masovnim ispitivanjima cjepiva uvelike se smanjuje.

Znanstvenici su desetljećima koristili pokuse na ljudima kako bi razvili tretmane protiv mnogih zaraznih bolesti, ali ovo je prvo poznato takvo istraživanje o covidu-19.

Negativna strana istraživanja je rizik po zdravlje dobrovoljaca koji obole od koronavirusne bolesti, ali sveučilište poduzima sve mjere opreza.

Ispitanici moraju biti zdravi i u dobi od 18-30 godina.

Oni će biti u karanteni najmanje 17 dana, a svi koji razviju simptome dobit će Regeneronov lijek - monoklonska antitijela Ronapreve.

Prvo medicinsko ispitivanje na svijetu u kojemu je dozvoljeno namjerno izlaganje ispitanika koronavirusu traži dobrovoljce radi razvoja boljih cjepiva.

Istraživanje Sveučilišta u Oxfordu pokrenuto je prošlog travnja, tri mjeseca nakon što je Britanija postala prva zemlja koja je odobrila ispitivanja covida-19 na ljudima.

Njegova prva faza, koja je još uvijek u tijeku, usredotočena je na otkrivanje količine virusa koja je potrebna za izazivanje infekcije, dok će druga imati za cilj odrediti imunosni odgovor potreban da se spriječi zaraza, objavilo je sveučilište u priopćenju.

Znanstvenici su blizu utvrđivanja najslabije moguće infekcije virusom koja osigurava da oko polovice ljudi koji su mu izloženi dobiju asimptomatski ili blagi covid-19.

Zatim planiraju izložiti dobrovoljce - sve prethodno prirodno zaražene ili cijepljene - toj dozi izvorne varijante virusa kako bi utvrdili koje su razine antitijela ili imunosnih T-stanica potrebne za sprječavanje infekcije.

"To je imunosni odgovor koji tada trebamo potaknuti novim cjepivom", rekla je Helen McShane, profesorica na Sveučilištu Oxford i voditeljica studije.

Nalazi istraživanja pomoći će da budući razvoj cjepiva bude mnogo brži i učinkovitiji, stoji u priopćenju.

Imunolozi u svijetu pokušavaju točno odrediti razinu imunosne reakcije koju cjepivo mora izazvati kako bi se zaštitilo od bolesti.

Kada se jednom ta razina otkrije, potreba za masovnim ispitivanjima cjepiva uvelike se smanjuje.

Znanstvenici su desetljećima koristili pokuse na ljudima kako bi razvili tretmane protiv mnogih zaraznih bolesti, ali ovo je prvo poznato takvo istraživanje o covidu-19.

Negativna strana istraživanja je rizik po zdravlje dobrovoljaca koji obole od koronavirusne bolesti, ali sveučilište poduzima sve mjere opreza.

Ispitanici moraju biti zdravi i u dobi od 18-30 godina.

Prvo medicinsko ispitivanje na svijetu u kojemu je dozvoljeno namjerno izlaganje ispitanika koronavirusu traži dobrovoljce radi razvoja boljih cjepiva.

Istraživanje Sveučilišta u Oxfordu pokrenuto je prošlog travnja, tri mjeseca nakon što je Britanija postala prva zemlja koja je odobrila ispitivanja covida-19 na ljudima.

Njegova prva faza, koja je još uvijek u tijeku, usredotočena je na otkrivanje količine virusa koja je potrebna za izazivanje infekcije, dok će druga imati za cilj odrediti imunosni odgovor potreban da se spriječi zaraza, objavilo je sveučilište u priopćenju.

Znanstvenici su blizu utvrđivanja najslabije moguće infekcije virusom koja osigurava da oko polovice ljudi koji su mu izloženi dobiju asimptomatski ili blagi covid-19.
