Krajem mjeseca, točnije 26. travnja, obilježit će se 37. godišnjica jedne od najvećih katastrofa koje su se dogodile u Europi - nesreće u četvrtom reaktoru nuklearne elektrane nedaleko od Černobila. Nekoliko dana nakon katastrofe, za koju se još uvijek ne zna koliki je danak uzela u ljudskim životima, cijelo područje oko elektrane je evakuirano. Postalo je vojna zona, Černobilska zona isključenja, u kojoj ljudi ne žive, piše Jutarnji list.

Neki su se, istina, vratili, a to su stariji stanovnici tog područja koji jednostavno nemaju kamo. Danas, osim njih, u Zoni žive samo radnici koji je ‘održavaju‘ (i to dva tjedna mjesečno, a onda neko vrijeme ne smiju doći ni blizu) i turisti koji je posjećuju. No, tu je još netko - životinje. Zona iz koje su se ljudi gotovo posve maknuli postala je, neočekivano, raj za životinje. Ne samo divlje životinje, nego i pse. Dio njih potomci su onih koji su nakon eksplozije pobjegli u šumu, dalje od ljudi. Upravo te pse stručnjaci su proučavali da vide na koji način izlaganje radijaciji utječe na njihov DNK i je li ono ubrzalo prirodni tijek evolucije.

Stručnjaci sa University of South Carolina i iz National Human Genome Research Institute počeli su proučavati pse, a rezultate su objavili u časopisu Science Advancesu.

- Imaju li takve mutacije koje su im omogućile da žive i razmnožavaju se u tom području? S kojim su se izazovima suočili i kako su se genetski njima prilagodili? - pojašnjava glavna pitanja studije njena koautorica Elaine Ostrander za New York Times, prenosi Jutarnji list.

Studija je otkrila kako psi koji žive blizu zatvorene nuklearke (u gradu Pripjatu) imaju drugačiju genetiku od onih koji žive nešto dalje, u samom gradu Černobilu, koji je udaljeniji od bivše elektrame. To dokazuje kako su ti psi prošli neku vrstu brze mutacije, odnosno, evolucije, i to zbog izloženosti radijaciji.

Ova je studija postavila temelje za daljnje istraživanje utjecaja radijacije na veće sisavce. Premda ona nema jasan zaključak, samo potvrdu razlika u DNK, pokazala je kako jedno područje, za koje su svi očekivali da će biti posve mrtvo, buja životom, ali nam i pomaže da bolje razumijemo utjecaj radijacije na prirodnu evoluciju.

Krajem mjeseca, točnije 26. travnja, obilježit će se 37. godišnjica jedne od najvećih katastrofa koje su se dogodile u Europi - nesreće u četvrtom reaktoru nuklearne elektrane nedaleko od Černobila. Nekoliko dana nakon katastrofe, za koju se još uvijek ne zna koliki je danak uzela u ljudskim životima, cijelo područje oko elektrane je evakuirano. Postalo je vojna zona, Černobilska zona isključenja, u kojoj ljudi ne žive, piše Jutarnji list.

Neki su se, istina, vratili, a to su stariji stanovnici tog područja koji jednostavno nemaju kamo. Danas, osim njih, u Zoni žive samo radnici koji je ‘održavaju‘ (i to dva tjedna mjesečno, a onda neko vrijeme ne smiju doći ni blizu) i turisti koji je posjećuju. No, tu je još netko - životinje. Zona iz koje su se ljudi gotovo posve maknuli postala je, neočekivano, raj za životinje. Ne samo divlje životinje, nego i pse. Dio njih potomci su onih koji su nakon eksplozije pobjegli u šumu, dalje od ljudi. Upravo te pse stručnjaci su proučavali da vide na koji način izlaganje radijaciji utječe na njihov DNK i je li ono ubrzalo prirodni tijek evolucije.

Stručnjaci sa University of South Carolina i iz National Human Genome Research Institute počeli su proučavati pse, a rezultate su objavili u časopisu Science Advancesu.

- Imaju li takve mutacije koje su im omogućile da žive i razmnožavaju se u tom području? S kojim su se izazovima suočili i kako su se genetski njima prilagodili? - pojašnjava glavna pitanja studije njena koautorica Elaine Ostrander za New York Times, prenosi Jutarnji list.

Studija je otkrila kako psi koji žive blizu zatvorene nuklearke (u gradu Pripjatu) imaju drugačiju genetiku od onih koji žive nešto dalje, u samom gradu Černobilu, koji je udaljeniji od bivše elektrame. To dokazuje kako su ti psi prošli neku vrstu brze mutacije, odnosno, evolucije, i to zbog izloženosti radijaciji.

Ova je studija postavila temelje za daljnje istraživanje utjecaja radijacije na veće sisavce. Premda ona nema jasan zaključak, samo potvrdu razlika u DNK, pokazala je kako jedno područje, za koje su svi očekivali da će biti posve mrtvo, buja životom, ali nam i pomaže da bolje razumijemo utjecaj radijacije na prirodnu evoluciju.

Krajem mjeseca, točnije 26. travnja, obilježit će se 37. godišnjica jedne od najvećih katastrofa koje su se dogodile u Europi - nesreće u četvrtom reaktoru nuklearne elektrane nedaleko od Černobila. Nekoliko dana nakon katastrofe, za koju se još uvijek ne zna koliki je danak uzela u ljudskim životima, cijelo područje oko elektrane je evakuirano. Postalo je vojna zona, Černobilska zona isključenja, u kojoj ljudi ne žive, piše Jutarnji list.

Neki su se, istina, vratili, a to su stariji stanovnici tog područja koji jednostavno nemaju kamo. Danas, osim njih, u Zoni žive samo radnici koji je ‘održavaju‘ (i to dva tjedna mjesečno, a onda neko vrijeme ne smiju doći ni blizu) i turisti koji je posjećuju. No, tu je još netko - životinje. Zona iz koje su se ljudi gotovo posve maknul...
