Prema riječima arheologa pronađena su 44 novčića od čistog zlata iz sedmog vijeka u zidu rezervata prirode u sjevernom Izraelu, piše BBC.

Novčići su teški oko 170 grama, a a pronađeni su kod potoka Hermon kod rijeke Banijas. Stručnjaci procjenjuju da su tamo bili skriveni za vrijeme muslimanskih osvajanja na tim prostorima oko 635 godine.

Ovo otkriće pruža bolji uvid u posljednje doba Bizantskog Carstva, odnosno istočne polovine Rimskog carstva, koje je trajalo preko tisuću godina.

- Možemo i zamisliti kako je vlasnik sakrio svoje bogatstvo za vrijeme rata, u nadi kako će se jednoga dana vratiti po svoje vlasništvo, rekao je Yoav Lerer, voditelj iskapanja.

Lerer je dodao i da će ovo otkriće pružiti uvid u uređenje grada Banijasa za vrijeme 40-godišnje bizantske vladavine.

Iskopavanje je osim zlatnih novčića otkrilo i ostatke grada, njegov vodovod, brončane novčiće, ali i mnoge druge iskopine, poručili su nadležni.

Doktorica Gabriela Ingrid Bijovsky, stručnjakinja za numizmatiku prepoznala je da su neki od pronađenih novčića iz doba bizantskog cara Foke, ali da je većina ipak iz razdoblja njegovog nasljednika Heraklija, prenosi BBC.

Grad Banijas ima značajnu vrijednost u kršćanskoj tradiciji, jer je baš u njemu prema Bibliji Isus apostolu Petru rekao: "Ti si Petar-Stijena i na toj stijeni sagradit ću Crkvu svoju".

Prema riječima arheologa pronađena su 44 novčića od čistog zlata iz sedmog vijeka u zidu rezervata prirode u sjevernom Izraelu, piše BBC.

Novčići su teški oko 170 grama, a a pronađeni su kod potoka Hermon kod rijeke Banijas. Stručnjaci procjenjuju da su tamo bili skriveni za vrijeme muslimanskih osvajanja na tim prostorima oko 635 godine.

Ovo otkriće pruža bolji uvid u posljednje doba Bizantskog Carstva, odnosno istočne polovine Rimskog carstva, koje je trajalo preko tisuću godina.

- Možemo i zamisliti kako je vlasnik sakrio svoje bogatstvo za vrijeme rata, u nadi kako će se jednoga dana vratiti po svoje vlasništvo, rekao je Yoav Lerer, voditelj iskapanja.

Lerer je dodao i da će ovo otkriće pružiti uvid u uređenje grada Banijasa za vrijeme 40-godišnje bizantske vladavine.

Iskopavanje je osim zlatnih novčića otkrilo i ostatke grada, njegov vodovod, brončane novčiće, ali i mnoge druge iskopine, poručili su nadležni.

Doktorica Gabriela Ingrid Bijovsky, stručnjakinja za numizmatiku prepoznala je da su neki od pronađenih novčića iz doba bizantskog cara Foke, ali da je većina ipak iz razdoblja njegovog nasljednika Heraklija, prenosi BBC.

Grad Banijas ima značajnu vrijednost u kršćanskoj tradiciji, jer je baš u njemu prema Bibliji Isus apostolu Petru rekao: "Ti si Petar-Stijena i na toj stijeni sagradit ću Crkvu svoju".

Prema riječima arheologa pronađena su 44 novčića od čistog zlata iz sedmog vijeka u zidu rezervata prirode u sjevernom Izraelu, piše BBC.

Novčići su teški oko 170 grama, a a pronađeni su kod potoka Hermon kod rijeke Banijas. Stručnjaci procjenjuju da su tamo bili skriveni za vrijeme muslimanskih osvajanja na tim prostorima oko 635 godine.

Ovo otkriće pruža bolji uvid u posljednje doba Bizantskog Carstva, odnosno istočne polovine Rimskog carstva, koje je trajalo preko tisuću godina.

- Možemo i zamisliti kako je vlasnik sakrio svoje bogatstvo za vrijeme rata, u nadi kako će se jednoga dana vratiti po svoje vlasništvo, rekao je Yoav Lerer, voditelj iskapanja.

Lerer je dodao i da će ovo otkriće pružiti uvid u uređenje grada Banijasa za vrijeme 40-godišnje bizantske vladavin...
