Rasna nejednakost u SAD-u ponovno je došla do izražaja pošto je rulja pretežno bijelih pristaša Donalda Trumpa s lakoćom upala na Kapitol u srijedu i napustila ga bez većih posljedica, smatraju stanovnici Washingtona, aktivisti, političari pa i novoizabrani predsjednik Joe Biden.
Prosvjednici su probili barikade, razbili prozore, ugrabili suvenire i upali u prostorije Kongresa, neki su se i fotografirali s policijom, a drugi ponijeli trofeje na izlasku iz Kapitola.
Izostanak boljeg osiguranja i ograničen odgovor policije, unatoč najavljenom prosvjedu Trumpovih pristaša koji se pretvorio u nerede, bio je u čistoj suprotnosti s uglavnom mirnim prosvjedima Black Lives Matter (BLM) u Washingtonu prije šest mjeseci.
"Moja mama je rekla: da ti to učiniš, upucali bi te", rekla je Beatrice Mando koja je prošle godine bila na BLM prosvjedima.
"Ona ima pravo. Bilo bi stotine mrtvih, ako ne i više, da je ova skupina bila crna", dodala je.
Biden se u obraćanju u četvrtak složio da su ovi prosvjedi bili drukčiji.
"Nitko mi ne može reći da se, da je jučer prosvjedovala skupina BLM, prema njima ne bi postupalo vrlo, vrlo drukčije nego prema rulji nasilnika koja je upala na Kapitol", rekao je Biden.
U SAD-u je prošle godine bilo brojnih prosvjeda protiv rasne nejednakosti nakon što je u svibnju policajac Minneapolisa ubio crnca Georgea Floyda pritiskajući mu koljenom vrat gotovo devet minuta.
"Bilo je policajaca na svakom raskrižju u DC-u. Bilo je policajaca kod svakog spomenika, na Kapitolu, ispred Bijele kuće", rekla je 29-godišnja Abby Conejo koja radi u malom poduzeću u Washingtonu.
BLM prosvjednici suočili su se u Washingtonu s redovima maskiranih postrojbi Nacionalne garde kod spomenika Lincolnu u lipnju, dok je Trump govorio da će suzbiti, kako je opisao, bezakonje "huligana i lopuža".
Policija je bacala dimne bombe, omamljujuće granate i ispaljivala gumene metke na miroljubive prosvjednike i pokušala ih odvratiti od Bijele kuće kako bi se Trump mogao prošetati do obližnje crkve i fotografirati s Biblijom u ruci.
"Ponašali su se prema nama kao prema neprijatelju. Gdje je bio taj bijes i gnjev jučer? Zašto se s tim ljudima postupalo kao s prijateljima", rekla je Conejo.
Policija je u četvrtak objavila da je uhitila 68 osoba povezanih s nemirima na Kapitolu. Usporedno, gotovo 300 ih je uhićeno u jednoj večeri BLM prosvjeda blizu Bijele kuće.
Šef policije Kapitola Steven Sund pohvalio je svoje policajce i rekao da su "hrabro reagirali" kada su ih prosvjednici napali s "metalnim cijevima i posezali za drugim oružjem" i također se suočili s dvije cijevne bombe. Sund je kasnije rekao da će podnijeti ostavku 16. siječnja, objavili su američki mediji.
Lokalno stanovništvo brine se da će se nemiri ponoviti zbog slabog odgovora policije.
Gradski vijećnik Charles Allen rekao je da su on i njegovi susjedi naviknuti na prosvjede i velika okupljanja, ali ne ovakva.
"Ovo je bila pobuna. Ovo su bili domaći teroristi koji su pristizali u naš grad i pokušao okupirati Kapitol", rekao je Allen i dodao da je to bilo traumatično iskustvo za susjedstvo.
"Mislim da će se ljudi osjećati ohrabreno da to čine i povrh svega, mislim da se osjećaju ohrabreno jer su otišli sa suvenirima", dodao je Allen.
Među ruljom koja je napala Kapitol bilo je pojedinaca koji su mahali zastavama Konfederacije i koji su svojom pojavom i parolama zagovarali bjelačku supremaciju.
"Osjećaj zlostavljanja nije bio samo vidjeti privilegiranje bijelaca već i prevlast bijelaca u akciji", rekla je Makia Green, organizatorica prosvjeda BLM u Washingtonu. "Vidjeti pristranost vlade, policije", dodala je.
Skupina lokalnih čarter škola KIPP DC otkazale su nastavu u četvrtak, pozivajući se na osjećaje učenika, većinom crnaca, nakon nemira.
"Osjećamo se zgroženo dok razmišljamo o suprotnim odgovorima naše zemlje na ovaj čin domaćeg terorizma i mirnih prosvjeda prošlog ljeta", priopćili su.
Charles McKinney, izvanredni profesor povijesti na Rhodes Collegeu u Tennesseeju, rekao je da su nemiri podsjetnik na "velike razlike" u postupanju policije prema crncima i bijelcima.
"Odgovor policije bio je očit primjer sistemskog rasizma. To je bio prikaz privilegije bijelaca", naveo je McKinney.

Rasna nejednakost u SAD-u ponovno je došla do izražaja pošto je rulja pretežno bijelih pristaša Donalda Trumpa s lakoćom upala na Kapitol u srijedu i napustila ga bez većih posljedica, smatraju stanovnici Washingtona, aktivisti, političari pa i novoizabrani predsjednik Joe Biden.
Prosvjednici su probili barikade, razbili prozore, ugrabili suvenire i upali u prostorije Kongresa, neki su se i fotografirali s policijom, a drugi ponijeli trofeje na izlasku iz Kapitola.
Izostanak boljeg osiguranja i ograničen odgovor policije, unatoč najavljenom prosvjedu Trumpovih pristaša koji se pretvorio u nerede, bio je u čistoj suprotnosti s uglavnom mirnim prosvjedima Black Lives Matter (BLM) u Washingtonu prije šest mjeseci.
"Moja mama je rekla: da ti to učiniš, upucali bi te", rekla je Beatrice Mando koja je prošle godine bila na BLM prosvjedima.
"Ona ima pravo. Bilo bi stotine mrtvih, ako ne i više, da je ova skupina bila crna", dodala je.
Biden se u obraćanju u četvrtak složio da su ovi prosvjedi bili drukčiji.
"Nitko mi ne može reći da se, da je jučer prosvjedovala skupina BLM, prema njima ne bi postupalo vrlo, vrlo drukčije nego prema rulji nasilnika koja je upala na Kapitol", rekao je Biden.
U SAD-u je prošle godine bilo brojnih prosvjeda protiv rasne nejednakosti nakon što je u svibnju policajac Minneapolisa ubio crnca Georgea Floyda pritiskajući mu koljenom vrat gotovo devet minuta.
"Bilo je policajaca na svakom raskrižju u DC-u. Bilo je policajaca kod svakog spomenika, na Kapitolu, ispred Bijele kuće", rekla je 29-godišnja Abby Conejo koja radi u malom poduzeću u Washingtonu.
BLM prosvjednici suočili su se u Washingtonu s redovima maskiranih postrojbi Nacionalne garde kod spomenika Lincolnu u lipnju, dok je Trump govorio da će suzbiti, kako je opisao, bezakonje "huligana i lopuža".
Policija je bacala dimne bombe, omamljujuće granate i ispaljivala gumene metke na miroljubive prosvjednike i pokušala ih odvratiti od Bijele kuće kako bi se Trump mogao prošetati do obližnje crkve i fotografirati s Biblijom u ruci.
"Ponašali su se prema nama kao prema neprijatelju. Gdje je bio taj bijes i gnjev jučer? Zašto se s tim ljudima postupalo kao s prijateljima", rekla je Conejo.
Policija je u četvrtak objavila da je uhitila 68 osoba povezanih s nemirima na Kapitolu. Usporedno, gotovo 300 ih je uhićeno u jednoj večeri BLM prosvjeda blizu Bijele kuće.
Šef policije Kapitola Steven Sund pohvalio je svoje policajce i rekao da su "hrabro reagirali" kada su ih prosvjednici napali s "metalnim cijevima i posezali za drugim oružjem" i također se suočili s dvije cijevne bombe. Sund je kasnije rekao da će podnijeti ostavku 16. siječnja, objavili su američki mediji.
Lokalno stanovništvo brine se da će se nemiri ponoviti zbog slabog odgovora policije.
Gradski vijećnik Charles Allen rekao je da su on i njegovi susjedi naviknuti na prosvjede i velika okupljanja, ali ne ovakva.
"Ovo je bila pobuna. Ovo su bili domaći teroristi koji su pristizali u naš grad i pokušao okupirati Kapitol", rekao je Allen i dodao da je to bilo traumatično iskustvo za susjedstvo.
"Mislim da će se ljudi osjećati ohrabreno da to čine i povrh svega, mislim da se osjećaju ohrabreno jer su otišli sa suvenirima", dodao je Allen.
Među ruljom koja je napala Kapitol bilo je pojedinaca koji su mahali zastavama Konfederacije i koji su svojom pojavom i parolama zagovarali bjelačku supremaciju.
"Osjećaj zlostavljanja nije bio samo vidjeti privilegiranje bijelaca već i prevlast bijelaca u akciji", rekla je Makia Green, organizatorica prosvjeda BLM u Washingtonu. "Vidjeti pristranost vlade, policije", dodala je.
Skupina lokalnih čarter škola KIPP DC otkazale su nastavu u četvrtak, pozivajući se na osjećaje učenika, većinom crnaca, nakon nemira.
"Osjećamo se zgroženo dok razmišljamo o suprotnim odgovorima naše zemlje na ovaj čin domaćeg terorizma i mirnih prosvjeda prošlog ljeta", priopćili su.
Charles McKinney, izvanredni profesor povijesti na Rhodes Collegeu u Tennesseeju, rekao je da su nemiri podsjetnik na "velike razlike" u postupanju policije prema crncima i bijelcima.
"Odgovor policije bio je očit primjer sistemskog rasizma. To je bio prikaz privilegije bijelaca", naveo je McKinney.
