Svaka obitelj ima svoje obiteljske tajne, a kraljevska ima kraljevske.

Tijekom emitiranja četvrte sezone popularne serije "Kruna" o životu kraljice Elizabete II. u jednoj od epizoda otkriveno je da je najdugovječnija britanska monarhinja imala dvoje bliskih rođakinja koje su skrivane od javnosti. To je još jednom podiglo prašinu oko toga tko su zapravo Catherine i Nerissa Bowes-Lyon, piše National Geographic.

Nerissa je rođena 1919., dok je njezina sestra Catherine rođena 1926., a obje su bile kćeri Johna Herberta Bowes-Lyona i njegove izvanbračne supruge Fenelle. Drugim riječima, bile su kćeri brata Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, koja će uskoro postati princeza Albert i vojvotkinja od Yorka, a potom i kraljica Velike Britanije.

Od najranijih dana bilo je jasno da sestre imaju određene poteškoće, naime nisu mogle govoriti i do kraja života imale su inteligenciju četverogodišnjeg djeteta, zbog čega su nakon očeve smrti 1930. godine smještene u bolnicu za mentalno zdravlje u Redhillu u Londonu. No, priča tu ne završava jer se 1987. godine pokazalo da su njihove smrti lažirane, kada je u knjizi posvećenoj geneologiji plemićkih obitelji iz 1963. godine navedeno da su njih dvije umrle 1940. godine.

Naime, Nerissa je umrla 1986. godine, dok je Catherine umrla 2014. godine.

Mnogi članovi kraljevske obitelji znali su za Catherine i Nerissu, ali velika većina vjerovala je da su umrle 1940. - uključujući kraljicu Elizabetu II. No, mnogi se i danas pitaju – zašto je njihova smrt lažirana? Pretpostavlja se da je postojao strah da bi njihovo stanje moglo ugroziti društveni položaj kraljevske obitelji zbog diskriminacije koja je vladala kada su u pitanju osobe s posebnim potrebama.

Koliko su se bojali osude, govori i činjenica da su novinari - kada je 1987. godine izašla priča o sestrama - otkrili da je Nerissa pokopana u grobnici označenoj samo naljepnicom s imenom i rednim brojem, nakon što je bolnica u kojoj su bili smještene potvrdila da su njih dvije u srodstvu s kraljevskom obitelji. S druge strane, službeno su iz Buckinghamske palače poručili da neće komentirati optužbe jer se radi o osobnoj stvari obitelji Bowes-Lyon, piše National Geographic.

Svaka obitelj ima svoje obiteljske tajne, a kraljevska ima kraljevske.

Tijekom emitiranja četvrte sezone popularne serije "Kruna" o životu kraljice Elizabete II. u jednoj od epizoda otkriveno je da je najdugovječnija britanska monarhinja imala dvoje bliskih rođakinja koje su skrivane od javnosti. To je još jednom podiglo prašinu oko toga tko su zapravo Catherine i Nerissa Bowes-Lyon, piše National Geographic.

Nerissa je rođena 1919., dok je njezina sestra Catherine rođena 1926., a obje su bile kćeri Johna Herberta Bowes-Lyona i njegove izvanbračne supruge Fenelle. Drugim riječima, bile su kćeri brata Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, koja će uskoro postati princeza Albert i vojvotkinja od Yorka, a potom i kraljica Velike Britanije.

Od najranijih dana bilo je jasno da sestre imaju određene poteškoće, naime nisu mogle govoriti i do kraja života imale su inteligenciju četverogodišnjeg djeteta, zbog čega su nakon očeve smrti 1930. godine smještene u bolnicu za mentalno zdravlje u Redhillu u Londonu. No, priča tu ne završava jer se 1987. godine pokazalo da su njihove smrti lažirane, kada je u knjizi posvećenoj geneologiji plemićkih obitelji iz 1963. godine navedeno da su njih dvije umrle 1940. godine.

Naime, Nerissa je umrla 1986. godine, dok je Catherine umrla 2014. godine.

Mnogi članovi kraljevske obitelji znali su za Catherine i Nerissu, ali velika većina vjerovala je da su umrle 1940. - uključujući kraljicu Elizabetu II. No, mnogi se i danas pitaju – zašto je njihova smrt lažirana? Pretpostavlja se da je postojao strah da bi njihovo stanje moglo ugroziti društveni položaj kraljevske obitelji zbog diskriminacije koja je vladala kada su u pitanju osobe s posebnim potrebama.

Koliko su se bojali osude, govori i činjenica da su novinari - kada je 1987. godine izašla priča o sestrama - otkrili da je Nerissa pokopana u grobnici označenoj samo naljepnicom s imenom i rednim brojem, nakon što je bolnica u kojoj su bili smještene potvrdila da su njih dvije u srodstvu s kraljevskom obitelji. S druge strane, službeno su iz Buckinghamske palače poručili da neće komentirati optužbe jer se radi o osobnoj stvari obitelji Bowes-Lyon, piše National Geographic.

Treba vidjeti hoće li s novim kraljem Buckinghamska palača biti otvorenija.
