Portugalski predsjednik Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa ispričao se u četvrtak žrtvama pedofilije unutar Katoličke crkve jer je u utorak rekao da mu se njihov broj ne čini "osobito velikim".

"Nikada mi nije bila namjera uvrijediti žrtve, ali ako ima onih koji su se osjećali uvrijeđenima, ispričavam se jer mi to nije bio cilj", rekao je novinarima 73-ogodišnji šef države, konzervativac i pobožni katolik.

U utorak je neovisno povjerenstvo odgovorno za istraživanje pedofilskog kriminala u Crkvi dalo privremenu procjenu svjedočanstava prema kojima su potvrđene 424 žrtve.

Predsjednikova prva reakcija izazvala je negodovanje, što je potaknulo Rebela de Sousu da objasni kako ne pokušava obezvrijediti broj svjedočenja, već izraziti "strah da mnoge žrtve, iz straha, nisu svjedočile".

Prema neovisnoj komisiji, koja bi svoje konačno izvješće trebala podnijeti krajem siječnja, saslušani svjedoci često su ukazivali na postojanje drugih neprijavljenih žrtava. Procjenjuje da će ukupan broj žrtava na kraju biti "mnogo veći" od oko dosad 400 prikupljenih svjedočanstava.

Predsjednik komisije Pedro Strecht dodao je da će ukupan broj napadača biti u rasponu od "nekoliko stotina".

Portugalski predsjednik Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa ispričao se u četvrtak žrtvama pedofilije unutar Katoličke crkve jer je u utorak rekao da mu se njihov broj ne čini "osobito velikim".

"Nikada mi nije bila namjera uvrijediti žrtve, ali ako ima onih koji su se osjećali uvrijeđenima, ispričavam se jer mi to nije bio cilj", rekao je novinarima 73-ogodišnji šef države, konzervativac i pobožni katolik.

U utorak je neovisno povjerenstvo odgovorno za istraživanje pedofilskog kriminala u Crkvi dalo privremenu procjenu svjedočanstava prema kojima su potvrđene 424 žrtve.

Predsjednikova prva reakcija izazvala je negodovanje, što je potaknulo Rebela de Sousu da objasni kako ne pokušava obezvrijediti broj svjedočenja, već izraziti "strah da mnoge žrtve, iz straha, nisu svjedočile".

Prema neovisnoj komisiji, koja bi svoje konačno izvješće trebala podnijeti krajem siječnja, saslušani svjedoci često su ukazivali na postojanje drugih neprijavljenih žrtava. Procjenjuje da će ukupan broj žrtava na kraju biti "mnogo veći" od oko dosad 400 prikupljenih svjedočanstava.

Predsjednik komisije Pedro Strecht dodao je da će ukupan broj napadača biti u rasponu od "nekoliko stotina".

Portugalski predsjednik Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa ispričao se u četvrtak žrtvama pedofilije unutar Katoličke crkve jer je u utorak rekao da mu se njihov broj ne čini "osobito velikim".

"Nikada mi nije bila namjera uvrijediti žrtve, ali ako ima onih koji su se osjećali uvrijeđenima, ispričavam se jer mi to nije bio cilj", rekao je novinarima 73-ogodišnji šef države, konzervativac i pobožni katolik.

U utorak je neovisno povjerenstvo odgovorno za istraživanje pedofilskog kriminala u Crkvi dalo privremenu procjenu svjedočanstava prema kojima su potvrđene 424 žrtve.

Predsjednikova prva reakcija izazvala je negodovanje, što je potaknulo Rebela de Sousu da objasni kako ne pokušava obezvrijediti broj svjedočenja, već izraziti "strah da mnoge žrtve, iz straha, nisu svjedočile"....
