Predsjednikovi gardisti drže predsjednika Nigera Mohameda Bazoumu u palači u glavnom gradu Niameyu, a regionalni čelnici organizirali su brzu posredničku misiju kako bi pokušali spriječiti još jedno potencijalno otimanje vlasti u zapadnoj Africi.

Afrička unija i zapadnoafrički regionalni blok ECOWAS osudili su ono što su nazvali pokušajem državnog udara, pozivajući pobunjenike da oslobode Bazouma i vrate se u vojarne.

Sjedinjene Države pozvale su na oslobađanje predsjednika, a Europska unija, Ujedinjeni narodi, Francuska i drugi osudili pobunu i rekli da zabrinuto prate događaje.

U srijedu poslijepodne nije bilo jasno tko ima kontrolu nad državom. Predsjednik susjednog Benina Patrice Talon rekao je da će procijeniti situaciju nakon sastanka s predsjednikom Nigerije i ECOWAS-a, Bolom Tinubuom.

Predsjedništvo Nigera objavilo je ranije tog dana priopćenje u kojem stoji da su predsjednikovi stražari tog jutra pokrenuli "antirepublikanski" pokret, ali je ono kasnije izbrisano.

Izjava je uslijedila nakon izvješća da su gardisti blokirali pristup palači i u njoj držali Bazoumu, što je izazvalo zabrinutost da bi mogao biti u tijeku sedmi državni udar u zapadnoj Africi od 2020.

"Predsjednik Republike i njegova obitelj su dobro", objavilo je predsjedništvo na društvenim mrežama bez dodatnih pojedinosti. Također je pisalo da je vojska spremna napasti stražare "ako se ne opamete".

Vojnici su preuzeli kontrolu nad svim cestama koje vode do nacionalne televizije koja je cijeli dan puštala koncerte i filmove.

Mnoštvo Bazoumovih pristaša okupilo se ispred nacionalne skupštine u Niameyu kako bi pozvali na oslobađanje predsjednika prije nego što ih je policija rastjerala, rekao je Reutersov izvjestitelj.

Vojno preuzimanje vlasti u bivšoj francuskoj koloniji moglo bi dodatno zakomplicirati napore zapada da pomogne zemljama u regiji Sahel u borbi protiv džihadističke pobune koja se proširila iz Malija tijekom proteklog desetljeća.

Niger je postao ključni saveznik zapadnih sila koje žele pomoći u borbi protiv pobune, no suočavaju se s rastućom ogorčenošću novih hunti na vlasti u Maliju i Burkini Faso. Zapadnoafrička zemlja također je saveznica Europske unije u borbi protiv neregularnih migracija iz podsaharske Afrike.

Članovi Predsjedničke garde Nigera drže predsjednika Mohameda Bazuma u predsjedničkoj palači u glavnome gradu, koju su u srijedu ujutro blokirala vojna vozila, rekli su sigurnosni izvori.

Oglasilo se predsjedništvo Nigera koje je priopćilo da su neki pripadnici predsjedničke garde "uzalud" pokrenuli "antirepublikanski" pokret i da je nacionalna vojska spremna napasti ih ako se ne opamete. U priopćenju se dodaje da su predsjednik Bazum i njegova obitelj dobro.

Događaji nalikuju na četiri vojne pobune koje su od 2020. pogađale susjedni Mali i Burkinu Faso.

Blokirana su i ministarstva smještena blizu predsjedničke palače, a osoblje koje se nalazi u palači nije pušteno u svoje urede, rekli su predsjednički i sigurnosni izvori.

Reutersov izvjestitelj izvijestio je da je u ostatku Niameya mirno, da pristup internetu funkcionira te da se jutarnji promet odvija kao i obično.

Ranije državne udare u Burkini Faso i Maliju dijelom je potaknulo nezadovoljstvo zbog neuspjeha vlasti da zaustave islamističku pobunu koja šteti području Sahela, a to uključuje i Niger.

U ožujku 2021. u Nigeru je spriječen pokušaj državnog udara. Vojska je pokušala zauzeti predsjedničku palaču nekoliko dana prije nego što je Bazum trebao prisegnuti.

Predsjednikovi gardisti drže predsjednika Nigera Mohameda Bazoumu u palači u glavnom gradu Niameyu, a regionalni čelnici organizirali su brzu posredničku misiju kako bi pokušali spriječiti još jedno potencijalno otimanje vlasti u zapadnoj Africi.

Afrička unija i zapadnoafrički regionalni blok ECOWAS osudili su ono što su nazvali pokušajem državnog udara, pozivajući pobunjenike da oslobode Bazouma i vrate se u vojarne.

Sjedinjene Države pozvale su na oslobađanje predsjednika, a Europska unija, Ujedinjeni narodi, Francuska i drugi osudili pobunu i rekli da zabrinuto prate događaje.

U srijedu poslijepodne nije bilo jasno tko ima kontrolu nad državom. Predsjednik susjednog Benina Patrice Talon rekao je da će procijeniti situaciju nakon sastanka s predsjednikom Nigerije i ECOWAS-a, Bolom Tinubuom.

Predsjedništvo Nigera objavilo je ranije tog dana priopćenje u kojem stoji da su predsjednikovi stražari tog jutra pokrenuli "antirepublikanski" pokret, ali je ono kasnije izbrisano.

Izjava je uslijedila nakon izvješća da su gardisti blokirali pristup palači i u njoj držali Bazoumu, što je izazvalo zabrinutost da bi mogao biti u tijeku sedmi državni udar u zapadnoj Africi od 2020.

"Predsjednik Republike i njegova obitelj su dobro", objavilo je predsjedništvo na društvenim mrežama bez dodatnih pojedinosti. Također je pisalo da je vojska spremna napasti stražare "ako se ne opamete".

Vojnici su preuzeli kontrolu nad svim cestama koje vode do nacionalne televizije koja je cijeli dan puštala koncerte i filmove.

Mnoštvo Bazoumovih pristaša okupilo se ispred nacionalne skupštine u Niameyu kako bi pozvali na oslobađanje predsjednika prije nego što ih je policija rastjerala, rekao je Reutersov izvjestitelj.

Vojno preuzimanje vlasti u bivšoj francuskoj koloniji moglo bi dodatno zakomplicirati napore zapada da pomogne zemljama u regiji Sahel u borbi protiv džihadističke pobune koja se proširila iz Malija tijekom proteklog desetljeća.

Niger je postao ključni saveznik zapadnih sila koje žele pomoći u borbi protiv pobune, no suočavaju se s rastućom ogorčenošću novih hunti na vlasti u Maliju i Burkini Faso. Zapadnoafrička zemlja također je saveznica Europske unije u borbi protiv neregularnih migracija iz podsaharske Afrike.

Oglasilo se predsjedništvo Nigera koje je priopćilo da su neki pripadnici predsjedničke garde "uzalud" pokrenuli "antirepublikanski" pokret i da je nacionalna vojska spremna napasti ih ako se ne opamete. U priopćenju se dodaje da su predsjednik Bazum i njegova obitelj dobro.

Događaji nalikuju na četiri vojne pobune koje su od 2020. pogađale susjedni Mali i Burkinu Faso.

Blokirana su i ministarstva smještena blizu predsjedničke palače, a osoblje koje se nalazi u palači nije pušteno u svoje urede, rekli su predsjednički i sigurnosni izvori.

Reutersov izvjestitelj izvijestio je da je u ostatku Niameya mirno, da pristup internetu funkcionira te da se jutarnji promet odvija kao i obično.

Ranije državne udare u Burkini Faso i Maliju dijelom je potaknulo nezadovoljstvo zbog neuspjeha vlasti da zaustave islamističku pobunu koja šteti području Sahela, a to uključuje i Niger.

U ožujku 2021. u Nigeru je spriječen pokušaj državnog udara. Vojska je pokušala zauzeti predsjedničku palaču nekoliko dana prije nego što je Bazum trebao prisegnuti.
