Recesija i poostrožena imigracijska politika usporili su dotok stranaca u SAD, pa je prognoza gubitka većinskog statusa za bijelce pomaknuta za osam godina, na 2010., stoji u prognozi Statističkog ureda SAD.

Prognoza objavljena u srijedu mijenja prošlogodišnja predviđanja ureda, da će djeca bijelaca postati manjina 2023., a ukupna bjelačka populacija će ih slijediti 2042. godine.

Ranije procjene nisu uzimale u obzir mogućnost smanjenja broja ljudi koji ulaze u SAD zbog ekonomske krize i imigracijske politike uvedene nakon terorističkih napada 11. rujna 2001.

SAD trenutačno ima 308 milijuna stanovnika, od kojih su dvije trećine nehispanički bijelci.

Ukupno stanovništvo trebalo bi se popeti do 399 milijuna do 2050. godine, prema novim projekcijama, s bijelcima koji bi činili do 49,9 posto stanovništva.

Crnci će činiti 12,2 posto stanovnika, što je neizmijenjeno u odnosu na današnje stanje. Međutim Hispanici, koji su trenutačno 15 posto stanovništva, rasti će do 28 posto u 2050. godini. Za američke Azijate, predviđa se rast sa 4,4 na 6,0 posto stanovništva.

Recesija i poostrožena imigracijska politika usporili su dotok stranaca u SAD, pa je prognoza gubitka većinskog statusa za bijelce pomaknuta za osam godina, na 2010., stoji u prognozi Statističkog ureda SAD.

Prognoza objavljena u srijedu mijenja prošlogodišnja predviđanja ureda, da će djeca bijelaca postati manjina 2023., a ukupna bjelačka populacija će ih slijediti 2042. godine.

Ranije procjene nisu uzimale u obzir mogućnost smanjenja broja ljudi koji ulaze u SAD zbog ekonomske krize i imigracijske politike uvedene nakon terorističkih napada 11. rujna 2001.

SAD trenutačno ima 308 milijuna stanovnika, od kojih su dvije trećine nehispanički bijelci.

Ukupno stanovništvo trebalo bi se popeti do 399 milijuna do 2050. godine, prema novim projekcijama, s bijelcima koji bi činili do 49,9 posto stanovništva.

Crnci će činiti 12,2 posto stanovnika, što je neizmijenjeno u odnosu na današnje stanje. Međutim Hispanici, koji su trenutačno 15 posto stanovništva, rasti će do 28 posto u 2050. godini. Za američke Azijate, predviđa se rast sa 4,4 na 6,0 posto stanovništva.
