Njujorški tužitelji u četvrtak su u završnom obraćanju poroti na suđenju bivšem filmskom producentu Harveyu Weinsteinu zbog optužbi za silovanje, rekli da je Weinstein zloporabio svoju moć.
Pomoćnica okružnog tužitelja Joan Iluzzi rekla je porotnicima, koji će o slučaju raspravljati sljedeći tjedan, da je 67-godišnji Weistein mislio da žrtve nikada neće istupiti.
"Optuženik nije samo naštetio dostojanstvu i životu svjedokinja, već ih je i podcijenio", rekla je Iluzzi.
Weisten se izjasnio nevinim za seksualno zlostavljanje bivše produkcijske asistentice Mimi Haleyi 2006. i silovanje glumice Jessice Mann 2013.
Od 2017. je više od 80 žena optužilo Weinsteina za neprimjereno seksualno ponašanje. Kroz pokret #MeToo žene su optužile moćne muškarce u biznisu, medijima i politici za seksualno uznemiravanje.
Weistein koji je producirao filmove 'Engleski pacijent' i 'Zaljubljeni Shakespeare' demantirao je seks bez pristanka.
U četvrtak je Donna Rotunno, jedna od Weinsteinovih odvjetnica, napala tužitelje kao nepouzdane i optužila da žele seks s pristankom prikazati kao napad.
"Stvaraju prostor u kojem žene liše zdravog razuma, autonomije i odgovornosti", rekla je Rotunno tijekom završne rasprave koja je potrajala gotovo pet sati.
Haleyi je svjedočila da ju je Weinstein prisilio na oralni seks u njegovu domu 2006. Mann ga je optužila za silovanje u hotelskoj sobi na Manhattanu što je opisala kao "iznimno ponižavajući" odnos.
Porota je čula svjedočenja još četiri žene. Glumica Annabella Sciorra rekla je da je Weinstein na zimu 1993. ili 1994. ušao u njezin stan i silovao je.
Optužba je zastarjela pa se ne može tretirati kao odvojen zločin, ali mogla bi djelovati kao otežavajući faktor koji bi išao u prilog najozbiljnijoj optužbi u slučaju, predatorskom seksualnom napadu, zbog kojeg se može dobiti doživotna kazna zatvora.
Tužitelji su pozvali ostale tri žene kako bi njihova svjedočenja osnažila dokaze o Weinsteinovoj namjeri, ali nisu ga optužili za zločine povezane s njihovim svjedočenjima.
Sudac James Burke trebao bi u utorak ujutro dati upute članovima porote nakon čega će oni vijećati o slučaju.

Njujorški tužitelji u četvrtak su u završnom obraćanju poroti na suđenju bivšem filmskom producentu Harveyu Weinsteinu zbog optužbi za silovanje, rekli da je Weinstein zloporabio svoju moć.
Pomoćnica okružnog tužitelja Joan Iluzzi rekla je porotnicima, koji će o slučaju raspravljati sljedeći tjedan, da je 67-godišnji Weistein mislio da žrtve nikada neće istupiti.
"Optuženik nije samo naštetio dostojanstvu i životu svjedokinja, već ih je i podcijenio", rekla je Iluzzi.
Weisten se izjasnio nevinim za seksualno zlostavljanje bivše produkcijske asistentice Mimi Haleyi 2006. i silovanje glumice Jessice Mann 2013.
Od 2017. je više od 80 žena optužilo Weinsteina za neprimjereno seksualno ponašanje. Kroz pokret #MeToo žene su optužile moćne muškarce u biznisu, medijima i politici za seksualno uznemiravanje.
Weistein koji je producirao filmove 'Engleski pacijent' i 'Zaljubljeni Shakespeare' demantirao je seks bez pristanka.
U četvrtak je Donna Rotunno, jedna od Weinsteinovih odvjetnica, napala tužitelje kao nepouzdane i optužila da žele seks s pristankom prikazati kao napad.
"Stvaraju prostor u kojem žene liše zdravog razuma, autonomije i odgovornosti", rekla je Rotunno tijekom završne rasprave koja je potrajala gotovo pet sati.
Haleyi je svjedočila da ju je Weinstein prisilio na oralni seks u njegovu domu 2006. Mann ga je optužila za silovanje u hotelskoj sobi na Manhattanu što je opisala kao "iznimno ponižavajući" odnos.
Porota je čula svjedočenja još četiri žene. Glumica Annabella Sciorra rekla je da je Weinstein na zimu 1993. ili 1994. ušao u njezin stan i silovao je.
Optužba je zastarjela pa se ne može tretirati kao odvojen zločin, ali mogla bi djelovati kao otežavajući faktor koji bi išao u prilog najozbiljnijoj optužbi u slučaju, predatorskom seksualnom napadu, zbog kojeg se može dobiti doživotna kazna zatvora.
Tužitelji su pozvali ostale tri žene kako bi njihova svjedočenja osnažila dokaze o Weinsteinovoj namjeri, ali nisu ga optužili za zločine povezane s njihovim svjedočenjima.
Sudac James Burke trebao bi u utorak ujutro dati upute članovima porote nakon čega će oni vijećati o slučaju.
