Izraelski premijer Benjamin Netanyahu odbio je molbu Joe Bidena da odustane od planiranog kopnenog napada na Rafah, posljednje utočište za više od milijun raseljenih u Gazi, ali i grada za koji Izrael smatra da je zaklon i borcima islamističkog Hamasa.

Netanyahu je zastupnicima u parlamentu u utorak rekao da je "potpuno jasno dao do znanja" američkom predsjedniku da je Izrael odlučan završiti eliminaciju Hamasovih brigada u Rafahu te da se to jedino može učiniti tako da se uđe na taj teren.

Dvojica čelnika razgovarala su u ponedjeljak, a savjetnik Bijele kuće za nacionalnu sigurnost Jake Sullivan je rekao da Washington kopneni napad smatra "greškom" te da vjeruje da Izrael može ostvariti svoje vojne ciljeve na drugi način.

Netanyahu je potvrdio da postoji neslaganje s Amerikancima oko potrebe da se uđe u Rafah, ali ne oko potrebe da se eliminira Hamas, dodavši da ne vidi način kako eliminirati Hamas bez uništenja preostalih bataljuna.

Washington je pokrenuo novu diplomatsku inicijativu za prekidom vatre kako bi se nakon skoro šest mjeseci oslobodili preostali taoci, njih preko 100, te kako bi se dostavila veća količina pomoći enklavi i spriječila glad.

Glavni državni tajnik Antony Blinken najavio je novi posjet Bliskom istoku gdje bi se sastao s čelnicima Egipta i Saudijske Arabije i razgovarao o "pravoj arhitekturi za trajan mir".

Blinken za sada nije spomenuo da bi se mogao zaustaviti i u Izraelu, a izraelsko ministarstvo vanjskih poslova je priopćilo da nisu obaviješteni da pripreme njegov posjet.

Prema Hamasovom ministarstvu zdravstva, u izraelskoj ofenzivi na Pojas Gaze poginulo je gotovo 32.000 ljudi.

Izrael osporava taj broj i upozorava da Hamas ne navodi broj poginulih boraca. Rat je izbio nakon što je Hamas 7. listopada izveo krvavi napad na sela i kibuce u južnom Izraelu i glazbeni festival te pobio oko 1200 ljudi, a oteo 253.

U dva prekida vatre Hamas je pustio oko 100 talaca u zamjenu za nekoliko stotina Palestinaca iz izraelskih zatvora. Više od 100 talaca, među kojima 19 djevojaka i dvoje djece, i dalje je u zatočeništvu. Razna izvješća govore da je 60 talaca ubijeno.

Pregovori o prekidu vatre nastavit će se ovaj tjedan u Katru.

Prema informacijama, razgovarat će se o šestotjednom primirju tijekom kojeg bi Hamas pustio 40 talaca za nekoliko stotina palestinskih zatvorenika. No Hamas za sada ne prihvaća privremeno primirje već traži širi plan za potpuno okončanje rata. U suprotnom, poručila je ta teroristička organizacija, neće pustiti taoce.

Izrael posljednjih tjedana vrši precizne napade na vođe tog islamističkog pokreta. SAD je potvrdio da je tijekom noći Izrael likvidirao Marwana Issu, zamjenika zapovjednika vojnog krila Hamasa u Pojasu Gaze.

Izraelski premijer Benjamin Netanyahu odbio je molbu Joe Bidena da odustane od planiranog kopnenog napada na Rafah, posljednje utočište za više od milijun raseljenih u Gazi, ali i grada za koji Izrael smatra da je zaklon i borcima islamističkog Hamasa.

Netanyahu je zastupnicima u parlamentu u utorak rekao da je "potpuno jasno dao do znanja" američkom predsjedniku da je Izrael odlučan završiti eliminaciju Hamasovih brigada u Rafahu te da se to jedino može učiniti tako da se uđe na taj teren.

Dvojica čelnika razgovarala su u ponedjeljak, a savjetnik Bijele kuće za nacionalnu sigurnost Jake Sullivan je rekao da Washington kopneni napad smatra "greškom" te da vjeruje da Izrael može ostvariti svoje vojne ciljeve na drugi način.

Netanyahu je potvrdio da postoji neslaganje s Amerikancima oko potrebe da se uđe u Rafah, ali ne oko potrebe da se eliminira Hamas, dodavši da ne vidi način kako eliminirati Hamas bez uništenja preostalih bataljuna.

Washington je pokrenuo novu diplomatsku inicijativu za prekidom vatre kako bi se nakon skoro šest mjeseci oslobodili preostali taoci, njih preko 100, te kako bi se dostavila veća količina pomoći enklavi i spriječila glad.

Glavni državni tajnik Antony Blinken najavio je novi posjet Bliskom istoku gdje bi se sastao s čelnicima Egipta i Saudijske Arabije i razgovarao o "pravoj arhitekturi za trajan mir".

Blinken za sada nije spomenuo da bi se mogao zaustaviti i u Izraelu, a izraelsko ministarstvo vanjskih poslova je priopćilo da nisu obaviješteni da pripreme njegov posjet.

Prema Hamasovom ministarstvu zdravstva, u izraelskoj ofenzivi na Pojas Gaze poginulo je gotovo 32.000 ljudi.

Izrael osporava taj broj i upozorava da Hamas ne navodi broj poginulih boraca. Rat je izbio nakon što je Hamas 7. listopada izveo krvavi napad na sela i kibuce u južnom Izraelu i glazbeni festival te pobio oko 1200 ljudi, a oteo 253.

U dva prekida vatre Hamas je pustio oko 100 talaca u zamjenu za nekoliko stotina Palestinaca iz izraelskih zatvora. Više od 100 talaca, među kojima 19 djevojaka i dvoje djece, i dalje je u zatočeništvu. Razna izvješća govore da je 60 talaca ubijeno.

Pregovori o prekidu vatre nastavit će se ovaj tjedan u Katru.

Prema informacijama, razgovarat će se o šestotjednom primirju tijekom kojeg bi Hamas pustio 40 talaca za nekoliko stotina palestinskih zatvorenika. No Hamas za sada ne prihvaća privremeno primirje već traži širi plan za potpuno okončanje rata. U suprotnom, poručila je ta teroristička organizacija, neće pustiti taoce.

Izrael posljednjih tjedana vrši precizne napade na vođe tog islamističkog pokreta. SAD je potvrdio da je tijekom noći Izrael likvidirao Marwana Issu, zamjenika zapovjednika vojnog krila Hamasa u Pojasu Gaze.
