U američkoj saveznoj državi Ilinois muškarac je preminuo od bjesnila, što je prvi takav tragičan slučaj u toj državi od 1954. godine.
Zdravstvene vlasti su objavile da je muškarac u 80-im godinama umro nešto više od mjesec dana nakon što je ispričao da se probudio sredinom kolovoza i zatekao šišmiša koji ga je napao tako što mu se zalijepio za vrat.
Centar za kontrolu i prevenciju bolesti potvrdio je dijagnozu nakon ispitivanja u laboratoriju uz zaključak kako je čovjek ranije počeo osjećati simptome povezane s bjesnilom, uključujući bol u vratu, glavobolju, poteškoće u kontroliranju udova, nejasan govor i trnce u ekstremitetima.
Bjesnilo ima jednu od najvećih stopa smrtnosti od bilo koje druge bolesti, jer gotovo 100% pacijenata koji pokazuju simptome umire u roku od nekoliko tjedana.
Iako postoji cjepivo protiv bjesnila i druge mogućnosti liječenja koje mogu spriječiti smrt, sve se to treba primijeniti odmah nakon što je žrtva izložena bolesti.
Kada žrtva počne pokazivati simptome, obično je prekasno.
CBS News javlja kako se zdravstvenim radnicima koji su bili u kontaktu sa izlučevinama zaraženog muškarca pruža prevencija protiv bjesnila.
- Ako mislite da ste možda bili izloženi bjesnilu, odmah potražite medicinsku pomoć i slijedite preporuke zdravstvenih radnika, poručili su liječnici.
Ljudski slučajevi bjesnila su rijetki, ali ih ima - do tri slučaja koji se prijavljuju svake godine širom sveta. Procjenjuje se da 60.000 Amerikanaca prima cjepiva nakon izlaganja svake godine.

U američkoj saveznoj državi Ilinois muškarac je preminuo od bjesnila, što je prvi takav tragičan slučaj u toj državi od 1954. godine.
Zdravstvene vlasti su objavile da je muškarac u 80-im godinama umro nešto više od mjesec dana nakon što je ispričao da se probudio sredinom kolovoza i zatekao šišmiša koji ga je napao tako što mu se zalijepio za vrat.
Centar za kontrolu i prevenciju bolesti potvrdio je dijagnozu nakon ispitivanja u laboratoriju uz zaključak kako je čovjek ranije počeo osjećati simptome povezane s bjesnilom, uključujući bol u vratu, glavobolju, poteškoće u kontroliranju udova, nejasan govor i trnce u ekstremitetima.
Bjesnilo ima jednu od najvećih stopa smrtnosti od bilo koje druge bolesti, jer gotovo 100% pacijenata koji pokazuju simptome umire u roku od nekoliko tjedana.
Iako postoji cjepivo protiv bjesnila i druge mogućnosti liječenja koje mogu spriječiti smrt, sve se to treba primijeniti odmah nakon što je žrtva izložena bolesti.
Kada žrtva počne pokazivati simptome, obično je prekasno.
CBS News javlja kako se zdravstvenim radnicima koji su bili u kontaktu sa izlučevinama zaraženog muškarca pruža prevencija protiv bjesnila.
- Ako mislite da ste možda bili izloženi bjesnilu, odmah potražite medicinsku pomoć i slijedite preporuke zdravstvenih radnika, poručili su liječnici.
Ljudski slučajevi bjesnila su rijetki, ali ih ima - do tri slučaja koji se prijavljuju svake godine širom sveta. Procjenjuje se da 60.000 Amerikanaca prima cjepiva nakon izlaganja svake godine.
