Mlada 33-godišnja žena umrla je nakon što su joj liječnici rekli da je svoju rijetku genetsku bolest - umislila.

Stephanie Aston umrla je u svom domu u Aucklandu na Novom Zelandu 1. rujna nakon duge borbe s Ehlers-Danlosovim sindromom (EDS), piše Daily Mail.

EDS je rijedak genetski poremećaj koji utječe na vezivna tkiva u tijelu, a postoji 13 različitih varijanti tog stanja.

Poremećaj se smatra ‘nevidljivom bolešću‘ jer oboljeli često izgledaju prilično zdravi unatoč bolnim simptomima koji uključuju jake migrene, iščašenje zglobova, lako nastajanje modrica, bolove u trbuhu, nedostatak željeza, nesvjesticu i abnormalno ubrzan rad srca.

Stephanie je kazala da je 2016. liječnik njezine simptome odbacio i rekao joj da je ‘sve u njenoj glvi‘.

Kazao joj je i da misli da ona uopće nije bolesna već da je umjesto toga sama sebi uzrokovala mučninu.

Pogrešna dijagnoza dovela do toga da je optužena za samoozljeđivanje, poremećaje prehrane, lažiranje povišene temperature, napadaje kašlja i nesvjestice, pa je čak stavljena i pod psihijatrijski nadzor.

‘Osjećam se kao da mi je oduzeto dostojanstvo i da su mi ozbiljno povrijeđena prava‘, rekla je Stephanie za NZ Herald.

Nakon što se žalila povjereniku za zdravlje i invalidnost (HDC), rekla je da je dijagnoza dodatno negativno utjecala na njezino zdravlje.

Meenal Duggal, zamjenica povjerenika HDC-a za rješavanje pritužbi, presudila je u svibnju 2017. da nije uloga ureda da poništi ili potvrdi spornu dijagnozu. Ured tako nije poduzeo nikakve daljnje radnje nakon presude, piše Jutarnji list.

Priča Stephanie Aston dovela je do toga da je postala prava maskota za one koji pate od EDS-a ili sličnih nevidljivih bolesti jer se zauzimala za sebe unatoč iscrpljujućem poremećaju.

Također je pomogla pokrenuti Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes New Zealand 2017., organizaciju koja podržava one koji pate od ovog poremećaja.

‘S velikom tugom moramo objaviti da je Steph Aston preminula‘, objavila je ta organizacija u subotu na Facebooku.

‘Steph je pomogla osnovati ovo društvo još 2017. i vodila ga mnogo godina sve dok joj se zdravlje još više nije pogoršalo i nije mogla nastaviti pomagati. Ona je bila svjetionik za mnoge u našoj zajednici. Sve do samog kraja bila je spremna pomoći svakome i poslušati ga. Jako ćeš nam nedostajati. Nadam se da ćeš se sada dobro odmoriti‘, stoji u tužnoj objavi na Facebooku.

Mlada 33-godišnja žena umrla je nakon što su joj liječnici rekli da je svoju rijetku genetsku bolest - umislila.

Stephanie Aston umrla je u svom domu u Aucklandu na Novom Zelandu 1. rujna nakon duge borbe s Ehlers-Danlosovim sindromom (EDS), piše Daily Mail.

EDS je rijedak genetski poremećaj koji utječe na vezivna tkiva u tijelu, a postoji 13 različitih varijanti tog stanja.

Poremećaj se smatra ‘nevidljivom bolešću‘ jer oboljeli često izgledaju prilično zdravi unatoč bolnim simptomima koji uključuju jake migrene, iščašenje zglobova, lako nastajanje modrica, bolove u trbuhu, nedostatak željeza, nesvjesticu i abnormalno ubrzan rad srca.

Stephanie je kazala da je 2016. liječnik njezine simptome odbacio i rekao joj da je ‘sve u njenoj glvi‘.

Kazao joj je i da misli da ona uopće nije bolesna već da je umjesto toga sama sebi uzrokovala mučninu.

Pogrešna dijagnoza dovela do toga da je optužena za samoozljeđivanje, poremećaje prehrane, lažiranje povišene temperature, napadaje kašlja i nesvjestice, pa je čak stavljena i pod psihijatrijski nadzor.

‘Osjećam se kao da mi je oduzeto dostojanstvo i da su mi ozbiljno povrijeđena prava‘, rekla je Stephanie za NZ Herald.

Nakon što se žalila povjereniku za zdravlje i invalidnost (HDC), rekla je da je dijagnoza dodatno negativno utjecala na njezino zdravlje.

Meenal Duggal, zamjenica povjerenika HDC-a za rješavanje pritužbi, presudila je u svibnju 2017. da nije uloga ureda da poništi ili potvrdi spornu dijagnozu. Ured tako nije poduzeo nikakve daljnje radnje nakon presude, piše Jutarnji list.

Priča Stephanie Aston dovela je do toga da je postala prava maskota za one koji pate od EDS-a ili sličnih nevidljivih bolesti jer se zauzimala za sebe unatoč iscrpljujućem poremećaju.

Također je pomogla pokrenuti Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes New Zealand 2017., organizaciju koja podržava one koji pate od ovog poremećaja.

‘S velikom tugom moramo objaviti da je Steph Aston preminula‘, objavila je ta organizacija u subotu na Facebooku.

‘Steph je pomogla osnovati ovo društvo još 2017. i vodila ga mnogo godina sve dok joj se zdravlje još više nije pogoršalo i nije mogla nastaviti pomagati. Ona je bila svjetionik za mnoge u našoj zajednici. Sve do samog kraja bila je spremna pomoći svakome i poslušati ga. Jako ćeš nam nedostajati. Mlada 33-godišnja žena umrla je nakon što su joj liječnici rekli da je svoju rijetku genetsku bolest - umislila.

Stephanie Aston umrla je u svom domu u Aucklandu na Novom Zelandu 1. rujna nakon duge borbe s Ehlers-Danlosovim sindromom (EDS), piše Daily Mail.

EDS je rijedak genetski poremećaj koji utječe na vezivna tkiva u tijelu, a postoji 13 različitih varijanti tog stanja.

Poremećaj se smatra ‘nevidljivom bolešću‘ jer oboljeli često izgledaju prilično zdravi unatoč bolnim simptomima koji uključuju jake migrene, iščašenje zglobova, lako nastajanje modrica, bolove u trbuhu, nedostatak željeza, nesvjesticu i abnormalno ubrzan rad srca.

Stephanie je kazala da je 2016. liječnik njezine simptome odbacio i rekao joj da je ‘sve u njenoj glvi‘.

Kazao joj je i da misli da ona uopće nije bolesna već da je umjesto toga sama sebi uzrokovala mučninu.

Pogrešna dijagnoza dovela do toga da je optužena za samoozljeđivanje, poremećaje prehrane, lažiranje povišene temperature, napadaje kašlja i nesvjestice, pa je čak stavljena i pod psihijatrijski nadzor.

‘Osjećam se kao da mi je oduzeto dostojanstvo i da su mi ozbiljno povrijeđena prava‘, rekla je Stephanie za NZ Herald.

Nakon što se žalila povjereniku za zdravlje i invalidnost (HDC), rekla je da je dijagnoza dodatno negativno utjecala na njezino zdravlje.

Meenal Duggal, zamjenica povjerenika HDC-a za rješavanje pritužbi, presudila je u svibnju 2017. da nije uloga ureda da poništi ili potvrdi spornu dijagnozu. Ured tako nije poduzeo nikakve daljnje radnje nakon presude, piše Jutarnji list.

Priča Stephanie Aston dovela je do toga da je postala prava maskota za one koji pate od EDS-a ili sličnih nevidljivih bolesti jer se zauzimala za sebe unatoč iscrpljujućem poremećaju.

Također je pomogla pokrenuti Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes New Zealand 2017., organizaciju koja podržava one koji pate od ovog poremećaja.

‘S velikom tugom moramo objaviti da je Steph Aston preminula‘, objavila je ta organizacija u subotu na Facebooku.

‘Steph je pomogla osnovati ovo društvo još 2017. i vodila ga mnogo godina sve dok joj se zdravlje još više nije pogoršalo i nije mogla nastaviti pomagati. Ona je bila svjetionik za mnoge u našoj zajednici. Sve do samog kraja bila je spremna pomoći svakome i poslušati ga. Jako ćeš nam nedostajati. Nadam se da ćeš se sada dobro odmoriti‘, stoji u tužnoj objavi na Facebooku.
