Christine Lagarde, čelnica Međunarodnog monetarnog fonda, objavila je u utorak kako na to mjesto podnosi ostavku koja će stupiti na snagu sredinom rujna, nakon što je sada jasniji proces njezine nominacije za predsjednicu Europske središnje banke.

Lagarde je kazala kako njezina ostavka stupa na snagu 12. rujna, otvarajući put MMF-u da izabere novog čelnika.

"S većom jasnoćom oko procesa moje nominacije za predsjednicu Europske središnje banke (ECB) i vremena koje će biti za to potrebno, donijela sam odluku koja je u najboljem interesu MMF-a", rekla je Lagarde

Kazala je kako će njezina ostavka ubrzati izbor njezina nasljednika.

Ostavka Lagarde dolazi dva tjedna nakon njezine nominacije 2. srpnja za mjesto predsjednice ECB-a. Nije odmah podnijela ostavku u MMF-u jer nije bilo izvjesno hoće li novi Europski parlament odobriti nju i ostale kandidate za vodeće pozicije EU-a, kažu Reutersovi izvori.

O njezinoj nominaciji raspravlja podijeljeni Europski parlament. Ukoliko bude prihvaćena, na mjestu predsjednice ECB-a 31. listopada naslijedit će Marija Draghija.

Drugi petogodišnji mandat Christine Lagarde na poziciji čelnice MMF-a trebao je trajati do srpnja 2021. Mjesto predsjednika MMF-a tradicionalno je pripadalo Europljaninu, dok je vodeća pozicija MMF-ove sestrinske organizacije, Svjetske banke, pripadala Amerikancu.

Christine Lagarde, čelnica Međunarodnog monetarnog fonda, objavila je u utorak kako na to mjesto podnosi ostavku koja će stupiti na snagu sredinom rujna, nakon što je sada jasniji proces njezine nominacije za predsjednicu Europske središnje banke.

Lagarde je kazala kako njezina ostavka stupa na snagu 12. rujna, otvarajući put MMF-u da izabere novog čelnika.

"S većom jasnoćom oko procesa moje nominacije za predsjednicu Europske središnje banke (ECB) i vremena koje će biti za to potrebno, donijela sam odluku koja je u najboljem interesu MMF-a", rekla je Lagarde

Kazala je kako će njezina ostavka ubrzati izbor njezina nasljednika.

Ostavka Lagarde dolazi dva tjedna nakon njezine nominacije 2. srpnja za mjesto predsjednice ECB-a. Nije odmah podnijela ostavku u MMF-u jer nije bilo izvjesno hoće li novi Europski parlament odobriti nju i ostale kandidate za vodeće pozicije EU-a, kažu Reutersovi izvori.

O njezinoj nominaciji raspravlja podijeljeni Europski parlament. Ukoliko bude prihvaćena, na mjestu predsjednice ECB-a 31. listopada naslijedit će Marija Draghija.

Drugi petogodišnji mandat Christine Lagarde na poziciji čelnice MMF-a trebao je trajati do srpnja 2021. Mjesto predsjednika MMF-a tradicionalno je pripadalo Europljaninu, dok je vodeća pozicija MMF-ove sestrinske organizacije, Svjetske banke, pripadala Amerikancu.

Christine Lagarde, čelnica Međunarodnog monetarnog fonda, objavila je u utorak kako na to mjesto podnosi ostavku koja će stupiti na snagu sredinom rujna, nakon što je sada jasniji proces njezine nominacije za predsjednicu Europske središnje banke.
