Da nikad nije kasno za činiti dobro, pokazuje slučaj Cecila Lockharta iz Zapadne Virginije, koji je preminuo 4. svibnja u 95. godini.

Kako izvještava CNN, njegovom jetrom spašena je žena koja se upravo oporavlja od transplantacije. Time je Lockhart postao najstariji donor u povijesti Sjedinjenih Američkih Država, jer do sada je to bio jedan 93-godišnjak.

Cecil Lockhart, koji je 50 godina radio kao rudar, nije bio registriran kao donor, ali doniranje organa bilo je moguće jer je s obitelji razgovarao o svojim željama. Sharon White, Cecilova kći, rekla je da je otac želio postati donor nakon što je njegov sin Stanley, nakon smrti 2010. godine, darivanjem tkiva spasio živote 75 ljudi, a darivanjem rožnice vratio vid još dvjema osobama.

"Donorstvo moga brata pomoglo je mome tati da ozdravi", rekla je Sharon White.

I drugo dvoje Cecilove djece slažu se s njom, čak su zatražili da se svi na njegovu sprovodu registriraju kao donori njemu u čast.

Zadovoljstvo je pokazala i organizacija CORE koja u SAD-u koordinira donorstvo, koje je dijelom poremetila pandemija.

- Tijekom posljednjih 40 godina 6000 darivatelja organa u SAD-u dobilo je priliku spasiti više od 15.000 ljudi, rekla je izvršna direktorica CORE-a Susan Stuart dodavši da godine nisu zapreka za donorstvo te da jedan darivatelj može spasiti do osam života. Ona potiče ljude da se registriraju kao donori.

Hrvatska je članica Eurotransplanta i 2018. bila je najbolja jer je 37 ljudi na milijun stanovnika darovalo je organ, dok je prosjek Eurotransplanta bio 15 donora na milijun stanovnika.

Snažno su nedavno odjeknule dvije humane geste obitelji tragično preminulih djevojčice iz Nove Gradiške i Branka Mijatovića, koje su donirale njihove organe i tako spasile nekoliko života.

Da nikad nije kasno za činiti dobro, pokazuje slučaj Cecila Lockharta iz Zapadne Virginije, koji je preminuo 4. svibnja u 95. godini.

Kako izvještava CNN, njegovom jetrom spašena je žena koja se upravo oporavlja od transplantacije. Time je Lockhart postao najstariji donor u povijesti Sjedinjenih Američkih Država, jer do sada je to bio jedan 93-godišnjak.

Cecil Lockhart, koji je 50 godina radio kao rudar, nije bio registriran kao donor, ali doniranje organa bilo je moguće jer je s obitelji razgovarao o svojim željama. Sharon White, Cecilova kći, rekla je da je otac želio postati donor nakon što je njegov sin Stanley, nakon smrti 2010. godine, darivanjem tkiva spasio živote 75 ljudi, a darivanjem rožnice vratio vid još dvjema osobama.

"Donorstvo moga brata pomoglo je mome tati da ozdravi", rekla je Sharon White.

I drugo dvoje Cecilove djece slažu se s njom, čak su zatražili da se svi na njegovu sprovodu registriraju kao donori njemu u čast.

Zadovoljstvo je pokazala i organizacija CORE koja u SAD-u koordinira donorstvo, koje je dijelom poremetila pandemija.

- Tijekom posljednjih 40 godina 6000 darivatelja organa u SAD-u dobilo je priliku spasiti više od 15.000 ljudi, rekla je izvršna direktorica CORE-a Susan Stuart dodavši da godine nisu zapreka za donorstvo te da jedan darivatelj može spasiti do osam života. Ona potiče ljude da se registriraju kao donori.

Hrvatska je članica Eurotransplanta i 2018. bila je najbolja jer je 37 ljudi na milijun stanovnika darovalo je organ, dok je prosjek Eurotransplanta bio 15 donora na milijun stanovnika.

Snažno su nedavno odjeknule dvije humane geste obitelji tragično preminulih djevojčice iz Nove Gradiške i Branka Mijatovića, koje su donirale njihove organe i tako spasile nekoliko života.
