Načelnik Združenog stožera američke vojske general Mark Milley jučer je pred Senatom branio svoj potez tajnih telefonskih poziva prema Kini. Dok republikanci traže njegovu ostavku, on tvrdi da je htio ublažiti napetosti između dvije strane, a ne “uzurpirati vlast”, izvještava Reuters, a prenosi Geopolitika News.

Milley je pred Odborom za oružane službe Senata prvi put detaljnije govorio o svojim potezima kao najviši rangirani vojni časnik, nakon što je izašla knjiga u kojoj se opisuju njegovi “tajni” telefonski pozivi Kini, tj. razgovori s generalom Li Zuochengom, zapovjednikom Narodnooslobodilačke vojske, 20. listopada 2020. i 1. siječnja 2021. Informacija o telefonskim pozivima kineskom generalu u posljednjim mjesecima mandata Donalda Trumpa dospjela je u javnost kada je objavljen izvadak iz knjige novinara Boba Woodwarda i Roberta Coste.

Milley je općenito potvrdio navode iz knjige da je Peking bio zabrinut da bi predsjednik Trump mogao započeti rat s Kinom, ali odbacuje tvrdnju da su pozivi bili tajni. Po njegovim riječima, ti su pozivi bilo koordinirani s američkom vladom te da je htio smiriti napetosti i kineskoj strani prenijeti da budu “mirni” i da ih “nitko neće napasti”.

”Znam, siguran sam, predsjednik Trump nije namjeravao napasti Kinu i moja je zadana odgovornost da prenosim predsjedničke naredbe i namjere”, kazao je Milley na saslušanju pred senatskim odborom.

Trese mu se fotelja

“Moja je poruka bila dosljedna: samo mirno, bez napetosti. Nećemo vas napasti”, rekao je Milley u svom iskazu. Milley je potvrdio obavještajni podatak koji je američke dužnosnike uvjerio da je Kina “zabrinuta da će je SAD napasti”.

Također je priznao da je 8. siječnja razgovarao s predsjednicom Zastupničkog doma Nancy Pelosi, koja je prema Washington Postu, pitala generala koje su sigurnosne mjere poduzete kako bi se “nestabilnog predsjednika” spriječilo da izvede nuklearni napad. “On je lud. Znaš da je lud”, rekla je Pelosi Milleyu, kako se navodi u knjizi dvojice novinara.

On joj je, kako tvrdi, odgovori da su sigurnosne mjere poduzete, ali da “nije kvalificiran procjenjivati mentalno zdravlje predsjednika SAD-a”. “Niti u jednom trenutku nisam pokušao promijeniti ili utjecati na proces, uzurpirati vlast, ili se ubaciti u zapovjedni lanac”, rekao je Milley. Trump je priopćio da “nikada nije niti razmišljao o napadu na Kinu” te da bi Milley, ako je istina da je zvao Peking, trebao biti smijenjen.

Republikanski senator Marco Rubio zatražio je Milleyevu ostavku, a senator Rand Paul smatra da bi trebao kazneno odgovarati ako su navodi u knjizi točni. Milley će sutra biti saslušan i u Zastupničkom domu.

Njegovo saslušanje je među medijski najpopraćenijim zbivanjima u SAD-u. Milley je iskusni general koji je zapovijedao u Iraku i Afganistanu. No, u američkoj javnosti je poznat i po tome što se javno bavio temama kao što su rasizam, unutarnji ekstremizam, nuklearno oružje i sposobnosti Donalda Trumpa za vrhovnog zapovjednika. Milley se zapleo u politički bitna pitanja pa je redovito bio na naslovnicama medija. Čini se da bi ovaj put takav pretjerani “angažman” mogao koštati pozicije, piše Geopolitika News.

Načelnik Združenog stožera američke vojske general Mark Milley jučer je pred Senatom branio svoj potez tajnih telefonskih poziva prema Kini. Dok republikanci traže njegovu ostavku, on tvrdi da je htio ublažiti napetosti između dvije strane, a ne “uzurpirati vlast”, izvještava Reuters, a prenosi Geopolitika News.

Milley je pred Odborom za oružane službe Senata prvi put detaljnije govorio o svojim potezima kao najviši rangirani vojni časnik, nakon što je izašla knjiga u kojoj se opisuju njegovi “tajni” telefonski pozivi Kini, tj. razgovori s generalom Li Zuochengom, zapovjednikom Narodnooslobodilačke vojske, 20. listopada 2020. i 1. siječnja 2021. Informacija o telefonskim pozivima kineskom generalu u posljednjim mjesecima mandata Donalda Trumpa dospjela je u javnost kada je objavljen izvadak iz knjige novinara Boba Woodwarda i Roberta Coste.

Milley je općenito potvrdio navode iz knjige da je Peking bio zabrinut da bi predsjednik Trump mogao započeti rat s Kinom, ali odbacuje tvrdnju da su pozivi bili tajni. Po njegovim riječima, ti su pozivi bilo koordinirani s američkom vladom te da je htio smiriti napetosti i kineskoj strani prenijeti da budu “mirni” i da ih “nitko neće napasti”.

”Znam, siguran sam, predsjednik Trump nije namjeravao napasti Kinu i moja je zadana odgovornost da prenosim predsjedničke naredbe i namjere”, kazao je Milley na saslušanju pred senatskim odborom.

Trese mu se fotelja

“Moja je poruka bila dosljedna: samo mirno, bez napetosti. Nećemo vas napasti”, rekao je Milley u svom iskazu. Milley je potvrdio obavještajni podatak koji je američke dužnosnike uvjerio da je Kina “zabrinuta da će je SAD napasti”.

Također je priznao da je 8. siječnja razgovarao s predsjednicom Zastupničkog doma Nancy Pelosi, koja je prema Washington Postu, pitala generala koje su sigurnosne mjere poduzete kako bi se “nestabilnog predsjednika” spriječilo da izvede nuklearni napad. “On je lud. Znaš da je lud”, rekla je Pelosi Milleyu, kako se navodi u knjizi dvojice novinara.

On joj je, kako tvrdi, odgovori da su sigurnosne mjere poduzete, ali da “nije kvalificiran procjenjivati mentalno zdravlje predsjednika SAD-a”. “Niti u jednom trenutku nisam pokušao promijeniti ili utjecati na proces, uzurpirati vlast, ili se ubaciti u zapovjedni lanac”, rekao je Milley. Trump je priopćio da “nikada nije niti razmišljao o napadu na Kinu” te da bi Milley, ako je istina da je zvao Peking, trebao biti smijenjen.

Republikanski senator Marco Rubio zatražio je Milleyevu ostavku, a senator Rand Paul smatra da bi trebao kazneno odgovarati ako su navodi u knjizi točni. Milley će sutra biti saslušan i u Zastupničkom domu.

Njegovo saslušanje je među medijski najpopraćenijim zbivanjima u SAD-u. Milley je iskusni general koji je zapovijedao u Iraku i Afganistanu. No, u američkoj javnosti je poznat i po tome što se javno bavio temama kao što su rasizam, unutarnji ekstremizam, nuklearno oružje i sposobnosti Donalda Trumpa za vrhovnog zapovjednika. Milley se zapleo u politički bitna pitanja pa je redovito bio na naslovnicama medija. Čini se da bi ovaj put takav pretjerani “angažman” mogao koštati pozicije, piše Geopolitika News.
