Egipat gradi dvije autoceste izvan Kaira, u blizini piramida, a time je oživio i proširio projekt koji je suspendiran devedesetih godina prošlog stoljeća nakon kritika međunarodne zajednice.
Velike piramide, glavna egipatska turistička atrakcija, jedine su od sedam antičkih svjetskih čuda preživjele do danas, te su pod zaštitom UNESCO-a.
Dvije autoceste dio su infrastrukturnih projekata koje predvodi moćna egipatska vojska, a zagovara predsjednik Abdel Fatah al-Sisi. Egipat gradi i novu prijestolnicu kako bi umanjio pritisak na Kairo, prenapučeni grad s 20 milijuna stanovnika.
Sjeverna autocesta prolazit će pustinjom na udaljenosti od oko 2,5 kilometara južno od Velikih piramida. Južna će prolaziti između stepenaste piramide u Sakari, najstarije od svih, te crvene i savijene piramide u Dahšuru. Obje ceste će imati osam traka.
Kritičari strahuju da bi one mogle napraviti nepovratnu štetu tim iznimno važnim lokalitetima svjetske baštine. Vlasti se brane da će ceste graditi oprezno i time popraviti prometnu povezanost.
"Ove ceste su veoma, veoma važne za razvoj, za Egipćane, za unutrašnjost Egipta", rekao je Mostafa al-Waziri, glavni tajnik egipatskog Vrhovnog vijeća za starine.
"Znajte da se jako dobro brinimo za naše starine diljem Egipta".
Neki egiptolozi i konzervatori tvrde da će autoceste uništiti integritet visoravni piramida, da će se graditi preko neistraženih arheoloških lokaliteta i stvarati onečišćenje koje bi moglo oštetiti te spomenike, zagaditi okruženje i izložiti krađi ograđena područja bogata arheološkim predmetima.
Al-Waziri ističe da su postojeće ceste puno bliže piramidama i da dovode velik broj turističkih autobusa.
"Zato mnogo radimo na razvoju", kazao je, dodavši da se na tom području u budućnosti planiraju koristiti električni busevi kako bi se smanjilo zagađenje.
Autoceste će rasjeći piramide na tri dijela te će podijeliti i dio drevnog Memfisa, tri tisuće godina jednog od najvećih i najutjecajnijih gradova na svijetu.
"Bio sam zapanjen onim što sam vidio", rekao je bivši dužnosnik UNESCO-a Said Zulficar koji je prije dva mjeseca posjetio dio južne autoceste.

Egipat gradi dvije autoceste izvan Kaira, u blizini piramida, a time je oživio i proširio projekt koji je suspendiran devedesetih godina prošlog stoljeća nakon kritika međunarodne zajednice.
Velike piramide, glavna egipatska turistička atrakcija, jedine su od sedam antičkih svjetskih čuda preživjele do danas, te su pod zaštitom UNESCO-a.
Dvije autoceste dio su infrastrukturnih projekata koje predvodi moćna egipatska vojska, a zagovara predsjednik Abdel Fatah al-Sisi. Egipat gradi i novu prijestolnicu kako bi umanjio pritisak na Kairo, prenapučeni grad s 20 milijuna stanovnika.
Sjeverna autocesta prolazit će pustinjom na udaljenosti od oko 2,5 kilometara južno od Velikih piramida. Južna će prolaziti između stepenaste piramide u Sakari, najstarije od svih, te crvene i savijene piramide u Dahšuru. Obje ceste će imati osam traka.
Kritičari strahuju da bi one mogle napraviti nepovratnu štetu tim iznimno važnim lokalitetima svjetske baštine. Vlasti se brane da će ceste graditi oprezno i time popraviti prometnu povezanost.
"Ove ceste su veoma, veoma važne za razvoj, za Egipćane, za unutrašnjost Egipta", rekao je Mostafa al-Waziri, glavni tajnik egipatskog Vrhovnog vijeća za starine.
"Znajte da se jako dobro brinimo za naše starine diljem Egipta".
Neki egiptolozi i konzervatori tvrde da će autoceste uništiti integritet visoravni piramida, da će se graditi preko neistraženih arheoloških lokaliteta i stvarati onečišćenje koje bi moglo oštetiti te spomenike, zagaditi okruženje i izložiti krađi ograđena područja bogata arheološkim predmetima.
Al-Waziri ističe da su postojeće ceste puno bliže piramidama i da dovode velik broj turističkih autobusa.
"Zato mnogo radimo na razvoju", kazao je, dodavši da se na tom području u budućnosti planiraju koristiti električni busevi kako bi se smanjilo zagađenje.
Autoceste će rasjeći piramide na tri dijela te će podijeliti i dio drevnog Memfisa, tri tisuće godina jednog od najvećih i najutjecajnijih gradova na svijetu.
"Bio sam zapanjen onim što sam vidio", rekao je bivši dužnosnik UNESCO-a Said Zulficar koji je prije dva mjeseca posjetio dio južne autoceste.
