Brazilsko ministarstvo pravosuđa dodijelilo je predsjedniku Jairu Bolsonaru državnu "medalju domorodačkih zasluga", što je izazvalo oštre kritike domorodačkih čelnika koji su dugo optuživali čelnika krajnje desnice da promiče politike koje štete njihovim zajednicama. Ministar pravosuđa Anderson Torres predao je medalju Bolsonaru i 25 drugih odlikovanih u srijedu "kao priznanje za njihovu značajnu altruističku službu za dobrobit, zaštitu i obranu autohtonih zajednica", navodi se u dekretu objavljenom u službenom glasilu. Torres je medalju dodijelio i sebi, ministrici poljoprivrede Terezi Cristini, ministru infrastrukture Tarcisiju Gomesu i ministru obrane Walteru Bragi Nettu.

Vođe autohtonih naroda i njihovi saveznici optužili su Bolsonaroa da pokušava prisiliti domorodačke narode u Brazilu da odu sa njihovih područja, promičući uništavanje okoliša i dopuštajući neograničeno krčenje šuma u prašumi Amazone, domu mnogih starosjedilačkih skupina, prenosi Al Jazeera.

"Apsurdno", tvitala je Sonia Guajajara, nacionalna koordinatorica Udruge brazilskih autohtonih naroda (APIB), o ovoj odluci u srijedu. "Kao da sva samopromocija koju smo dosad gledali nije bila dovoljna, ova barbarska anti-vlada sada je dodala još jednu: medalju zasluga za Jaira Bolsonara i njegove saveznike za njihove 'značajne' usluge domorodačkim narodima", rekla je Guajajara, dodajući da će njezina organizacija ići na sud da blokira ovaj dekret.

Congressional Environmental Front, zakonodavni blok koji se često protivi Bolsonaru, rekao je da je njezin čelnik, zamjenik u donjem domu Alessandro Molon, podnio zahtjev u Kongresu za poništavanje dekreta. "Nečuveno je da ista vlada koja pokušava legalizirati rudarstvo na domorodačkim zemljama, dovodeći u opasnost samu egzistenciju ovih progonjenih i maltretiranih naroda, ima hrabrosti dodijeliti si medalje 'zasluga' za sve zlo što je učinila", Molon je rekao u priopćenju.

Bolsonaro, koji je preuzeo dužnost 2019., smanjio je zaštitu okoliša u Amazoni i oduzeo sredstva vladinoj agenciji za zaštitu starosjedilaca, Funai. Također se zalagao za više rudarstva i komercijalne poljoprivrede u Amazonu kako bi stvorio radna mjesta i smanjio siromaštvo. Nacionalna medalja za autohtone zasluge tradicionalno se dodjeljivala akademicima kao što je antropologinja Darcy Ribeiro ili domorodačkim vođama kao što je legendarni poglavica i ekolog Raoni Matuktire.

Brazil je dom za otprilike milijun starosjedilaca, oko 0,5 posto stanovništva. Ranije u ožujku nekoliko tisuća Brazilaca okupilo se ispred Kongresa kako bi prosvjedovali protiv zakona koje je podržao Bolsonaro, a koji bi oslabili zaštitu okoliša Amazone i omogućili rudarenje na domorodačkim zemljama.

"Earth Event" sazvao je popularni pjevač Caetano Veloso i još četrdesetak brazilskih glazbenika kako bi pozvali parlament da zaustavi ono što su nazvali "uništenjem" amazonske prašume. "Situacija je kritična, ova vlada uništava ono što je ostalo od naših šuma", rekla je sveučilišna profesorica Priscila Borges, dodajući da je okoliš Brazila ugrožen ekspanzijom poljoprivrede i vladom koja služi interesima agrobiznisa.

Aktivisti za zaštitu okoliša također se protive zakonu kojim će se amnestirati otimači zemlje koji su desetljećima ilegalno zauzimali zemlje koje pripadaju vladi ili koje tradicionalno naseljavaju autohtone zajednice. Drugi bi nacrti zakona olabavili zahtjeve za izdavanje dozvola za okoliš i povećali broj pesticida i herbicida koje poljoprivrednici mogu koristiti. Četvrti zakon, za koji se vlada nadala da će ga brzo provući kroz Kongres, tvrdeći da je rat u Ukrajini poremetio opskrbu gnojivima potrebnim za žitarice, omogućio bi rudarenje i istraživanje nafte na autohtonim rezervatima koji su zaštićeni Ustavom.

No stranački zastupnici u donjem domu Kongresa nisu pristali žuriti s glasovanjem, zbog zabrinutosti da bi se birači mogli naljutiti u izbornoj godini. Zastupnik Arthur Lira rekao je da će biti osnovana radna skupina koja će proučiti zakon i izvijestiti o tome za 30 dana.

Brazilsko ministarstvo pravosuđa dodijelilo je predsjedniku Jairu Bolsonaru državnu "medalju domorodačkih zasluga", što je izazvalo oštre kritike domorodačkih čelnika koji su dugo optuživali čelnika krajnje desnice da promiče politike koje štete njihovim zajednicama. Ministar pravosuđa Anderson Torres predao je medalju Bolsonaru i 25 drugih odlikovanih u srijedu "kao priznanje za njihovu značajnu altruističku službu za dobrobit, zaštitu i obranu autohtonih zajednica", navodi se u dekretu objavljenom u službenom glasilu. Torres je medalju dodijelio i sebi, ministrici poljoprivrede Terezi Cristini, ministru infrastrukture Tarcisiju Gomesu i ministru obrane Walteru Bragi Nettu.

Vođe autohtonih naroda i njihovi saveznici optužili su Bolsonaroa da pokušava prisiliti domorodačke narode u Brazilu da odu sa njihovih područja, promičući uništavanje okoliša i dopuštajući neograničeno krčenje šuma u prašumi Amazone, domu mnogih starosjedilačkih skupina, prenosi Al Jazeera.

"Apsurdno", tvitala je Sonia Guajajara, nacionalna koordinatorica Udruge brazilskih autohtonih naroda (APIB), o ovoj odluci u srijedu. "Kao da sva samopromocija koju smo dosad gledali nije bila dovoljna, ova barbarska anti-vlada sada je dodala još jednu: medalju zasluga za Jaira Bolsonara i njegove saveznike za njihove 'značajne' usluge domorodačkim narodima", rekla je Guajajara, dodajući da će njezina organizacija ići na sud da blokira ovaj dekret.

Congressional Environmental Front, zakonodavni blok koji se često protivi Bolsonaru, rekao je da je njezin čelnik, zamjenik u donjem domu Alessandro Molon, podnio zahtjev u Kongresu za poništavanje dekreta. "Nečuveno je da ista vlada koja pokušava legalizirati rudarstvo na domorodačkim zemljama, dovodeći u opasnost samu egzistenciju ovih progonjenih i maltretiranih naroda, ima hrabrosti dodijeliti si medalje 'zasluga' za sve zlo što je učinila", Molon je rekao u priopćenju.

Bolsonaro, koji je preuzeo dužnost 2019., smanjio je zaštitu okoliša u Amazoni i oduzeo sredstva vladinoj agenciji za zaštitu starosjedilaca, Funai. Također se zalagao za više rudarstva i komercijalne poljoprivrede u Amazonu kako bi stvorio radna mjesta i smanjio siromaštvo. Nacionalna medalja za autohtone zasluge tradicionalno se dodjeljivala akademicima kao što je antropologinja Darcy Ribeiro ili domorodačkim vođama kao što je legendarni poglavica i ekolog Raoni Matuktire.

Brazil je dom za otprilike milijun starosjedilaca, oko 0,5 posto stanovništva. Ranije u ožujku nekoliko tisuća Brazilaca okupilo se ispred Kongresa kako bi prosvjedovali protiv zakona koje je podržao Bolsonaro, a koji bi oslabili zaštitu okoliša Amazone i omogućili rudarenje na domorodačkim zemljama.

"Earth Event" sazvao je popularni pjevač Caetano Veloso i još četrdesetak brazilskih glazbenika kako bi pozvali parlament da zaustavi ono što su nazvali "uništenjem" amazonske prašume. "Situacija je kritična, ova vlada uništava ono što je ostalo od naših šuma", rekla je sveučilišna profesorica Priscila Borges, dodajući da je okoliš Brazila ugrožen ekspanzijom poljoprivrede i vladom koja služi interesima agrobiznisa.

Aktivisti za zaštitu okoliša također se protive zakonu kojim će se amnestirati otimači zemlje koji su desetljećima ilegalno zauzimali zemlje koje pripadaju vladi ili koje tradicionalno naseljavaju autohtone zajednice. Drugi bi nacrti zakona olabavili zahtjeve za izdavanje dozvola za okoliš i povećali broj pesticida i herbicida koje poljoprivrednici mogu koristiti. Četvrti zakon, za koji se vlada nadala da će ga brzo provući kroz Kongres, tvrdeći da je rat u Ukrajini poremetio opskrbu gnojivima potrebnim za žitarice, omogućio bi rudarenje i istraživanje nafte na autohtonim rezervatima koji su zaštićeni Ustavom.

No stranački zastupnici u donjem domu Kongresa nisu pristali žuriti s glasovanjem, zbog zabrinutosti da bi se birači mogli naljutiti u izbornoj godini. Zastupnik Arthur Lira rekao je da će biti osnovana radna skupina koja će proučiti zakon i izvijestiti o tome za 30 dana.
