Najgora suša u Europi u nekoliko posljednjih godina uzrokovala je najniži vodostaj moćne rijeke Dunava koji je zabilježen u gotovo cijelo stoljeće, razotkrivši trupove desetaka njemačkih ratnih brodova s eksplozivima koji su potopljeni u Drugom svjetskom ratu blizu srpskog lučkog grada Prahova.
Crnomorska flota nacističke Njemačke potopila je duž Dunava stotine brodova 1944. godine kako se povlačila od sovjetskih snaga, dok ti brodovi i dan danas ometaju riječni promet tijekom niskih vodostaja.

Međutim, ovogodišnja suša, za koju znanstvenici tvrde da je posljedica globalnog zatopljenja, razotkrila je više od 20 trupova na jednom potezu Dunava blizu Prahova u istočnoj Srbiji, od kojih mnogi još uvijek sadrže tone streljiva i eksploziva te predstavljaju opasnost u plovidbi.
"Njemačka flota iza sebe je ostavila veliku ekološku katastrofu koja prijeti nama, stanovnicima Prahova", rekao je Velimir Trajilović (74), umirovljenik iz Prahova koji je napisao knjigu o njemačkim brodovima.

Radnici u lokalnoj ribarskoj industriji također su u opasnosti, uključujući i one iz Rumunjske s druge strane rijeke.
Mjeseci suše i rekordno visoke temperature ispostavili su se kao smetnja riječnom prometu na vitalnim arterijama i u drugim dijelovima Europe uključujući Njemačku, Italiju i Francusku. U Srbiji, vlasti su pribjegle jaružanju kako bi plovni putevi na Dunavu ostali i dalje otvoreni.
Kraj Prahova, zbog trupova nekih brodova plovni put Dunava sužen je sa 180 na samo 100 metara.
Raštrkani po riječnom koritu, neki brodovi i dalje imaju oklopne kupole, zapovjedne mostove, slomljene jarbole i iskrivljene trupove, dok drugi leže pod pjeskovitim humcima.
U ožujku, srpska vlada raspisala je poziv za spas trupova i uklanjanje streljiva i eksploziva. Trošak operacije procijenjen je na 29 milijuna eura.

Međutim, ovogodišnja suša, za koju znanstvenici tvrde da je posljedica globalnog zatopljenja, razotkrila je više od 20 trupova na jednom potezu Dunava blizu Prahova u istočnoj Srbiji, od kojih mnogi još uvijek sadrže tone streljiva i eksploziva te predstavljaju opasnost u plovidbi.
"Njemačka flota iza sebe je ostavila veliku ekološku katastrofu koja prijeti nama, stanovnicima Prahova", rekao je Velimir Trajilović (74), umirovljenik iz Prahova koji je napisao knjigu o njemačkim brodovima.

Radnici u lokalnoj ribarskoj industriji također su u opasnosti, uključujući i one iz Rumunjske s druge strane rijeke.
Mjeseci suše i rekordno visoke temperature ispostavili su se kao smetnja riječnom prometu na vitalnim arterijama i u drugim dijelovima Europe uključujući Njemačku, Italiju i Francusku. U Srbiji, vlasti su pribjegle jaružanju kako bi plovni putevi na Dunavu ostali i dalje otvoreni.
Kraj Prahova, zbog trupova nekih brodova plovni put Dunava sužen je sa 180 na samo 100 metara.
Raštrkani po riječnom koritu, neki brodovi i dalje imaju oklopne kupole, zapovjedne mostove, slomljene jarbole i iskrivljene trupove, dok drugi leže pod pjeskovitim humcima.
U ožujku, srpska vlada raspisala je poziv za spas trupova i uklanjanje streljiva i eksploziva. Trošak operacije procijenjen je na 29 milijuna eura.
