'Sami za sebe kažu da su hrabri, ali to nije hrabrost. Odrubiti glavu čovjeku koji kleči vezanih ruku je čisti kukavičluk. Kukavica ste ako idete nekom bespomoćnom odrubiti glavu. U tom slučaju niste ni ljudsko biće. Morate biti čudovište za učiniti takvo nešto', rekla je Dragana Haines.

Njezin je ubijeni suprug odrastao u Škotskoj, a nakon vojničke karijere prebacio se u humanitarce te ga je Dragana u toj ulozi i upoznala u Hrvatskoj. Na sisačkom je području radio za njemačku organizaciju koja se bavila obnovom, a ona je kao prevoditeljica radila za Organizaciju za europsku sigurnost i suradnju (OESS).

Vjenčali su se 2010. godine i skrasili u Sisku, gdje su dobili i kćerkicu Atheu.

David je otet u ožujku prošle godine u Siriji u koju je otišao radeći za francusku humanitarnu organizaciju.

'Svaki je dan bio izazov. Budila sam se s pitanjem trebam li se uopće nadati, hoće li to biti dan kada će me netko ili on nazvati i reći mi da je oslobođen i da se vraća kući. Ili će to biti dan kada ću dobiti poziv zbog neke loše vijesti', priča Dragana.

U trenutku kada je ispričala kako je u lipnju pogledala video na kojemu je David prikazan uz obećanje da će upravo on biti sljedeći kojem će odrubiti glavu, Dragana se rasplakala.

'Vidjela sam ga na snimci. Vidjela sam samo dio kada on govori. Nikada nisam skupila dovoljno hrabrosti da pogledam ostatak. Ne želim to gledati', rekla je.

Davidovu je tragediju pokušala sakriti od kćeri, ali djevojčica je shvatila da nešto nije u redu. 'Otišla bih u svoju sobu kako me ne bi vidjela da plačem, ali naravno da me je mogla čuti. Nakon nekog vremena shvatila je da, čim bih počela preko telefona razgovarati na engleski, da je to stric Mike [Davidov brat]. Dotrčala bi do mene s maramicama i govorila mi 'Mama, nemoj biti tužna, molim te nemoj plakati'. Shvaćala je da se nešto loše događa', govori Dragana.

U rujnu ju je Mike nazvao s najgorom viješću. 'Rekao mi je: Dragana, sada mu više ne mogu nauditi. Taj me je trenutak obilježio za ostatak života.'

Još uvijek ne zna kako bi objasnila svojoj kćeri što se dogodilo i zašto se njezin tata neće vratiti. Govori joj da je tata bio hrabar čovjek, da je išao pomoći ljudima u nevolji i da su sada ostale samo njih dvije.

'David je dao smisao mom životu. Učinio ga je drugačijim, promijenio ga je, a sada je Athea razlog da idem dalje. David bi htio da budem jaka, zbog naše kćeri', kazala je na kraju Dragana za Sky News.

'Sami za sebe kažu da su hrabri, ali to nije hrabrost. Odrubiti glavu čovjeku koji kleči vezanih ruku je čisti kukavičluk. Kukavica ste ako idete nekom bespomoćnom odrubiti glavu. U tom slučaju niste ni ljudsko biće. Morate biti čudovište za učiniti takvo nešto', rekla je Dragana Haines.

Njezin je ubijeni suprug odrastao u Škotskoj, a nakon vojničke karijere prebacio se u humanitarce te ga je Dragana u toj ulozi i upoznala u Hrvatskoj. Na sisačkom je području radio za njemačku organizaciju koja se bavila obnovom, a ona je kao prevoditeljica radila za Organizaciju za europsku sigurnost i suradnju (OESS).

Vjenčali su se 2010. godine i skrasili u Sisku, gdje su dobili i kćerkicu Atheu.

David je otet u ožujku prošle godine u Siriji u koju je otišao radeći za francusku humanitarnu organizaciju.

'Svaki je dan bio izazov. Budila sam se s pitanjem trebam li se uopće nadati, hoće li to biti dan kada će me netko ili on nazvati i reći mi da je oslobođen i da se vraća kući. Ili će to biti dan kada ću dobiti poziv zbog neke loše vijesti', priča Dragana.

U trenutku kada je ispričala kako je u lipnju pogledala video na kojemu je David prikazan uz obećanje da će upravo on biti sljedeći kojem će odrubiti glavu, Dragana se rasplakala.

'Vidjela sam ga na snimci. Vidjela sam samo dio kada on govori. Nikada nisam skupila dovoljno hrabrosti da pogledam ostatak. Ne želim to gledati', rekla je.

Davidovu je tragediju pokušala sakriti od kćeri, ali djevojčica je shvatila da nešto nije u redu. 'Otišla bih u svoju sobu kako me ne bi vidjela da plačem, ali naravno da me je mogla čuti. Nakon nekog vremena shvatila je da, čim bih počela preko telefona razgovarati na engleski, da je to stric Mike [Davidov brat]. Dotrčala bi do mene s maramicama i govorila mi 'Mama, nemoj biti tužna, molim te nemoj plakati'. Shvaćala je da se nešto loše događa', govori Dragana.

U rujnu ju je Mike nazvao s najgorom viješću. 'Rekao mi je: Dragana, sada mu više ne mogu nauditi. Taj me je trenutak obilježio za ostatak života.'

Još uvijek ne zna kako bi objasnila svojoj kćeri što se dogodilo i zašto se njezin tata neće vratiti. Govori joj da je tata bio hrabar čovjek, da je išao pomoći ljudima u nevolji i da su sada ostale samo njih dvije.

'David je dao smisao mom životu. Učinio ga je drugačijim, promijenio ga je, a sada je Athea razlog da idem dalje. David bi htio da budem jaka, zbog naše kćeri', kazala je na kraju Dragana za Sky News.
