Stipe Mesić, nekadašnji predsjednik Republike, bez sumnje je najpoznatiji hrvatski političar koji je godinama u bliskim kontaktima s Rusijom i tamošnjim vodstvom. U više navrata sastao se s Vladimirom Putinom, kojega je često opisivao biranim riječima, kao što je nerijetko i kritizirao optužbe na račun ruske politike.

Tako je, kada se prije mjesec dana počela intenzivirati kriza oko Ukrajine, izjavio za portal Dnevno.hr: "Amerika je duboko angažirana u sadašnjoj krizi, i to ne u ulozi branitelja Zapada i demokracije, nego u ulozi zemlje koja gotovo očajnički nastoji očuvati, ili vratiti položaj svjetskog hegemona, supersile kojoj nitko nije ravan i koja odlučuje o tome kakav će biti svijet u kojem živimo."

Rusija je prije šest dana napala Ukrajinu, a Putin poziva na eliminaciju tamošnje "nacističko-narkomanske vlasti". Bilo je zanimljivo čuti kako sada razmišlja Mesić. Iako ne opravdava rat, reklo bi se da i dalje ima puno razumijevanja za stajališta Kremlja, i smatra kako Zapad nije slušao ruska upozorenja, piše Jutarnji list.

Koje je vaše mišljenje o ratu, napadu Rusije na Ukrajinu?

- Odgovor na ovo pitanje ne može biti kratak jer treba vidjeti uzroke i posljedice, a ni jedno ni drugo nije novijeg datuma. Jer, kada je u prošlosti dogovarano da Sovjetski Savez podrži ujedinjenje Zapadne i Istočne Njemačke, i kada se rasformira Varšavski pakt, dogovoreno je da se NATO neće širiti prema granicama Rusije.

Znam da postoje dileme je li to dogovoreno ili nije, ali koliko sam mogao provjeriti, to je dogovoreno i postoji u spisima. Sada je došlo do kratkog spoja. Pitanje je zašto je trebalo forsirati širenje ako Rusija nije neprijatelj.

Sjetimo se napetosti koja je zbog raketa na Kubi vladala između Amerike i SSSR-a, kada je zbog toga prijetio nuklearni rat. Tko zna ne bi li isto tako, malo po malo, rakete došle na rusku granicu. To je trebalo ranije rješavati jer svaka od zemalja koje su u NATO-u, računajući i našu, ima svoju pretpovijest. Po meni, za Ukrajinu je najbolji model bila neutralnost kakvu je imala Finska, a ne forsirati ulazak u NATO.

Ali Ukrajina nije u NATO-u, a kamoli da na svojem teritoriju ima rakete usmjerene prema Rusiji?

- Čekajte, ja ne govorim o sadašnjem trenutku, nego o procesu koji se događa. Ako dolazi NATO, uvijek je moguće dovesti rakete, i toga treba biti svjestan. NATO ne dolazi saditi grincajg.

Moram ponoviti da Ukrajina nije članica NATO-a, a sada je napadnuta.

- Vi mene ne razumijete. Ne opravdavam ovo što se dešava, ali kažem - trebalo je shvatiti uzroke i posljedice. Ovo sada je posljedica.

Što sada treba napraviti?

- Treba sjesti i razgovarati.

Treba li se ruska vojska povući iz Ukrajine?

- Ona će se morati povući jer to nije Rusija. Mora se povući. Ali to se sve mora riješiti dogovorom.

Međutim, Putin kaže da je uvjet odlazak aktualne ukrajinske vlasti?

- Smatram da ni jedna država ne može drugoj određivati tko će biti u nečijem državnom vodstvu. Jasno da se to ne može ispuniti.

Koje je vaše mišljenje o ruskom predsjedniku Putinu, s kojim ste se susreli više puta?

- Poznajem jednog Putina, ali sada je druga situacija. Sada ga ne poznajem.

A što mislite o politici Hrvatske u ukrajinskoj krizi i ratu, i punoj podršci stavovima EU i NATO-a?

- Dobro, to je politička odluka i morala se pridružiti. Hrvatska ne može ni puno pomoći ni puno odmoći.

Slažete li se da je Putin napravio veliku grešku jer je protiv sebe okrenuo skoro cijeli svijet?

- Ponavljam, najlakše je osuditi, ali treba vidjeti što je dovelo do ove situacije. Svi mi osuđujemo svaku agresiju. To će osuditi svaki normalan čovjek. Ali moramo se udubiti u pitanje, što je do toga dovelo?

Čini mi se da niste pretjerano skloni NATO-u?

- NATO je imao svoju ulogu dok je protivnik bio Sovjetski Savez i dok su postojale ideološke razmirice. Međutim, SSSR-a više nema, kao ni opasnosti od njega, i trebalo je voditi drukčiju politiku NATO-a. Uostalom, iza svega stoji Amerika jer NATO nema svoje snage.

Po vašem mišljenju, hoće li Rusija morati reterirati?

- Rusija će reterirati onda kada se dogovori o uzrocima i posljedicama. Volio bih da se problem riješi pregovorima, ali ovakve probleme ne mogu riješiti jedni pregovori.

Stipe Mesić, nekadašnji predsjednik Republike, bez sumnje je najpoznatiji hrvatski političar koji je godinama u bliskim kontaktima s Rusijom i tamošnjim vodstvom. U više navrata sastao se s Vladimirom Putinom, kojega je često opisivao biranim riječima, kao što je nerijetko i kritizirao optužbe na račun ruske politike.

Tako je, kada se prije mjesec dana počela intenzivirati kriza oko Ukrajine, izjavio za portal Dnevno.hr: "Amerika je duboko angažirana u sadašnjoj krizi, i to ne u ulozi branitelja Zapada i demokracije, nego u ulozi zemlje koja gotovo očajnički nastoji očuvati, ili vratiti položaj svjetskog hegemona, supersile kojoj nitko nije ravan i koja odlučuje o tome kakav će biti svijet u kojem živimo."

Rusija je prije šest dana napala Ukrajinu, a Putin poziva na eliminaciju tamošnje "nacističko-narkomanske vlasti". Bilo je zanimljivo čuti kako sada razmišlja Mesić. Iako ne opravdava rat, reklo bi se da i dalje ima puno razumijevanja za stajališta Kremlja, i smatra kako Zapad nije slušao ruska upozorenja, piše Jutarnji list.

Koje je vaše mišljenje o ratu, napadu Rusije na Ukrajinu?

- Odgovor na ovo pitanje ne može biti kratak jer treba vidjeti uzroke i posljedice, a ni jedno ni drugo nije novijeg datuma. Jer, kada je u prošlosti dogovarano da Sovjetski Savez podrži ujedinjenje Zapadne i Istočne Njemačke, i kada se rasformira Varšavski pakt, dogovoreno je da se NATO neće širiti prema granicama Rusije.

Znam da postoje dileme je li to dogovoreno ili nije, ali koliko sam mogao provjeriti, to je dogovoreno i postoji u spisima. Sada je došlo do kratkog spoja. Pitanje je zašto je trebalo forsirati širenje ako Rusija nije neprijatelj.

Sjetimo se napetosti koja je zbog raketa na Kubi vladala između Amerike i SSSR-a, kada je zbog toga prijetio nuklearni rat. Tko zna ne bi li isto tako, malo po malo, rakete došle na rusku granicu. To je trebalo ranije rješavati jer svaka od zemalja koje su u NATO-u, računajući i našu, ima svoju pretpovijest. Po meni, za Ukrajinu je najbolji model bila neutralnost kakvu je imala Finska, a ne forsirati ulazak u NATO.

Ali Ukrajina nije u NATO-u, a kamoli da na svojem teritoriju ima rakete usmjerene prema Rusiji?

- Čekajte, ja ne govorim o sadašnjem trenutku, nego o procesu koji se događa. Ako dolazi NATO, uvijek je moguće dovesti rakete, i toga treba biti svjestan. NATO ne dolazi saditi grincajg.

Moram ponoviti da Ukrajina nije članica NATO-a, a sada je napadnuta.

- Vi mene ne razumijete. Ne opravdavam ovo što se dešava, ali kažem - trebalo je shvatiti uzroke i posljedice. Ovo sada je posljedica.

Što sada treba napraviti?

- Treba sjesti i razgovarati.

Treba li se ruska vojska povući iz Ukrajine?

- Ona će se morati povući jer to nije Rusija. Mora se povući. Ali to se sve mora riješiti dogovorom.

Međutim, Putin kaže da je uvjet odlazak aktualne ukrajinske vlasti?

- Smatram da ni jedna država ne može drugoj određivati tko će biti u nečijem državnom vodstvu. Jasno da se to ne može ispuniti.

Koje je vaše mišljenje o ruskom predsjedniku Putinu, s kojim ste se susreli više puta?

- Poznajem jednog Putina, ali sada je druga situacija. Sada ga ne poznajem.

A što mislite o politici Hrvatske u ukrajinskoj krizi i ratu, i punoj podršci stavovima EU i NATO-a?

- Dobro, to je politička odluka i morala se pridružiti. Hrvatska ne može ni puno pomoći ni puno odmoći.

Slažete li se da je Putin napravio veliku grešku jer je protiv sebe okrenuo skoro cijeli svijet?

- Ponavljam, najlakše je osuditi, ali treba vidjeti što je dovelo do ove situacije. Svi mi osuđujemo svaku agresiju. To će osuditi svaki normalan čovjek. Ali moramo se udubiti u pitanje, što je do toga dovelo?

Čini mi se da niste pretjerano skloni NATO-u?

- NATO je imao svoju ulogu dok je protivnik bio Sovjetski Savez i dok su postojale ideološke razmirice. Međutim, SSSR-a više nema, kao ni opasnosti od njega, i trebalo je voditi drukčiju politiku NATO-a. Uostalom, iza svega stoji Amerika jer NATO nema svoje snage.

Po vašem mišljenju, hoće li Rusija morati reterirati?

- Rusija će reterirati onda kada se dogovori o uzrocima i posljedicama. Volio bih da se problem riješi pregovorima, ali ovakve probleme ne mogu riješiti jedni pregovori.
