Grad Umag planira novo naselje za 1.800 stanovnika, s neboderima do 10 katova, po uzoru na francuski grad Perpignan.
Do 1. veljače traje javni uvid u prijedlog UPU-a Umag-istok, a svi zainteresirani mogu ga pogledati u predvorju Gradske vijećnice grada Umaga te na mrežnim stranicama Grada Umaga (www.umag.hr).

Nenad Novković iz tvrtke Novi urbanizam iz Pule pojasnio je namjenu ovog neizgrađenog građevinskog dijela čije granice sežu od kružnog toka u Aveniji grada Vukovara pa južno prema Novigradu.
Sjevernije od potoka predviđa se izgradnja gospodarsko-poslovne, pretežito trgovačke djelatnosti, nastavak zone Marketi, a južnije od potoka je pretežito stambena namjena. Najveći vlasnik zemljišta je država, pa privatnici i onda Grad Umag. Planira se izgradnja 600 stambenih jedinica za oko 1.800 žitelja, od čega je 300 stambenih jedinica u dužnim objektima te 300 u neboderima do deset katova, uz dvije podzemne etaže, piše Sanja Bosnić za Glas Istre.

Novković je napomenuo da su se vodili demografskim razvojem Umaga i pokazateljima iz PPUG-a, a vjeruje da će se poboljšanom infrastrukturom i turističkom ponudom povećati interes za nova ulaganja u ovu stambenu izgradnju, čime bi se dostigao prirast broja stanovnika, najviše povremenih. Stambena izgradnja mogla bi započeti u sljedećem desetljeću, a u poslovnom dijelu i ranije.
U raspravi se građanin Zlatan Varelija osvrnuo na nedavno objavljene podatke o popisu stanovništva istaknuvši da Umag bilježi pad od 5,29 posto, pa naselje Umaga danas broji 6.781 stanovnika, dok je broj stambenih jedinica u gradu znatno narastao. Zanimalo ga je da li se pri izradi plana koristila neka studija i koja, s obzirom na to da se predlaže naselje za 1.800 stanovnika.
Izrađivač plana je istaknuo da se takve projekcije izrađuju na višoj razini, odnosno nalaze se u planovima Istarske županije.

Goran Galović, inače nezavisni gradski vijećnik, ponovio je svoj upit o tome tko je naručitelj UPU-a, odnosno tko je budući investitor jer ne shvaća javni interes i potrebe stanovnika Umaga za ovakvim prijedlogom, kako je rekao, futurističkog UPU-a, planiranog po uzoru na francuski grad Perpignan, kako stoji u obrazloženju plana.
Zanimalo ga je i zašto se žuri s izradom. Predsjednik uprave umaškog poduzeća Istra-auto Branko Lukšić pohvalio je inicijativu Grada zbog izrade atraktivnog i funkcionalnog idejnog rješenja, istaknuvši da će se time omogućiti otvaranje novih poslovnih prostora i radnih mjesta.
U raspravi je Veljko Ivančić pak negodovao zbog termina "povremenih stanovnika" te zaključio da je očito naselje predviđeno za povremeno stanovanje, odnosno za sezonce i nove apartmane.

Nenad Novković iz tvrtke Novi urbanizam iz Pule pojasnio je namjenu ovog neizgrađenog građevinskog dijela čije granice sežu od kružnog toka u Aveniji grada Vukovara pa južno prema Novigradu.
Sjevernije od potoka predviđa se izgradnja gospodarsko-poslovne, pretežito trgovačke djelatnosti, nastavak zone Marketi, a južnije od potoka je pretežito stambena namjena. Najveći vlasnik zemljišta je država, pa privatnici i onda Grad Umag. Planira se izgradnja 600 stambenih jedinica za oko 1.800 žitelja, od čega je 300 stambenih jedinica u dužnim objektima te 300 u neboderima do deset katova, uz dvije podzemne etaže, piše Sanja Bosnić za Glas Istre.

Novković je napomenuo da su se vodili demografskim razvojem Umaga i pokazateljima iz PPUG-a, a vjeruje da će se poboljšanom infrastrukturom i turističkom ponudom povećati interes za nova ulaganja u ovu stambenu izgradnju, čime bi se dostigao prirast broja stanovnika, najviše povremenih. Stambena izgradnja mogla bi započeti u sljedećem desetljeću, a u poslovnom dijelu i ranije.
U raspravi se građanin Zlatan Varelija osvrnuo na nedavno objavljene podatke o popisu stanovništva istaknuvši da Umag bilježi pad od 5,29 posto, pa naselje Umaga danas broji 6.781 stanovnika, dok je broj stambenih jedinica u gradu znatno narastao. Zanimalo ga je da li se pri izradi plana koristila neka studija i koja, s obzirom na to da se predlaže naselje za 1.800 stanovnika.
Izrađivač plana je istaknuo da se takve projekcije izrađuju na višoj razini, odnosno nalaze se u planovima Istarske županije.

Goran Galović, inače nezavisni gradski vijećnik, ponovio je svoj upit o tome tko je naručitelj UPU-a, odnosno tko je budući investitor jer ne shvaća javni interes i potrebe stanovnika Umaga za ovakvim prijedlogom, kako je rekao, futurističkog UPU-a, planiranog po uzoru na francuski grad Perpignan, kako stoji u obrazloženju plana.
Zanimalo ga je i zašto se žuri s izradom. Predsjednik uprave umaškog poduzeća Istra-auto Branko Lukšić pohvalio je inicijativu Grada zbog izrade atraktivnog i funkcionalnog idejnog rješenja, istaknuvši da će se time omogućiti otvaranje novih poslovnih prostora i radnih mjesta.
U raspravi je Veljko Ivančić pak negodovao zbog termina "povremenih stanovnika" te zaključio da je očito naselje predviđeno za povremeno stanovanje, odnosno za sezonce i nove apartmane.
