Zoran Pasarić, djelatnici Geofizičkog odsjeka Prirodoslovno-matematičkog fakulteta Sveučilišta u Zagrebu, u prestižnom časopisu Nature Climate Change objavili su članak koji predstavlja važan doprinos prognozi porasta morske razine uslijed globalnih klimatskih promjena.

- Porast morske razine u sljedećih stotinu godina moguće je odrediti na dva načina. Prvi se način, tzv. teorijska metoda, zasniva na matematičkom modeliranju sustava atmosfera-more-led-kopno. Drugi način, empirijska metoda, temelji se na relacijama koje povezuju globalnu temperaturu s globalnom visinom morske razine. Problem je do sada bio u tome što su se rezultati dviju metoda drastično razlikovali, tako da su iznosi empirijskih prognoza bili čak dva do tri puta veći od iznosa teorijskih prognoza. Istražujući razloge neslaganja tih prognoza hrvatski su znanstvenici razvili modificiranu empirijsku metodu kojom su se uspjeli znatno približiti rezultatima teorijske metode.

M. Orlić i Z. Pasarić pokazali su u svom članku da je kod primjene empirijske metode potrebno uzeti u obzir dva do sada zanemarena procesa. Prvi je ravnotežni odziv mora i kopnenih ledenjaka na porast globalne temperature, a drugi je utjecaj crpljenja podzemnih voda na morsku razinu tijekom prošlog stoljeća. Njihovi rezultati impliciraju porast morske razine do 2100. godine u iznosu od 68 cm, odnosno u rasponu od 53 do 83 cm uvaži li se pripadna standardna devijacija (za slučaj umjerenog porasta koncentracije stakleničkih plinova koji bi doveo do porasta globalne temperature od oko 2°C). Ti su iznosi znatno manji od onih ranije određenih empirijskom metodom.

M. Orlić i Z. Pasarić u svom članku ističu da bi budući porast morske razine mogao biti veći ukoliko se ubrza otapanje ledenih pokrova na Grenlandu i Antarktici, ali i naglašavaju da se takav proces ne može obuhvatiti empirijskom metodom u njenom sadašnjem obliku - naveli su iz Geofizičkog odsjeka Prirodoslovno-matematičkog fakulteta Sveučilišta u Zagrebu.

Zoran Pasarić, djelatnici Geofizičkog odsjeka Prirodoslovno-matematičkog fakulteta Sveučilišta u Zagrebu, u prestižnom časopisu Nature Climate Change objavili su članak koji predstavlja važan doprinos prognozi porasta morske razine uslijed globalnih klimatskih promjena.

- Porast morske razine u sljedećih stotinu godina moguće je odrediti na dva načina. Prvi se način, tzv. teorijska metoda, zasniva na matematičkom modeliranju sustava atmosfera-more-led-kopno. Drugi način, empirijska metoda, temelji se na relacijama koje povezuju globalnu temperaturu s globalnom visinom morske razine. Problem je do sada bio u tome što su se rezultati dviju metoda drastično razlikovali, tako da su iznosi empirijskih prognoza bili čak dva do tri puta veći od iznosa teorijskih prognoza. Istražujući razloge neslaganja tih prognoza hrvatski su znanstvenici razvili modificiranu empirijsku metodu kojom su se uspjeli znatno približiti rezultatima teorijske metode.

M. Orlić i Z. Pasarić pokazali su u svom članku da je kod primjene empirijske metode potrebno uzeti u obzir dva do sada zanemarena procesa. Prvi je ravnotežni odziv mora i kopnenih ledenjaka na porast globalne temperature, a drugi je utjecaj crpljenja podzemnih voda na morsku razinu tijekom prošlog stoljeća. Njihovi rezultati impliciraju porast morske razine do 2100. godine u iznosu od 68 cm, odnosno u rasponu od 53 do 83 cm uvaži li se pripadna standardna devijacija (za slučaj umjerenog porasta koncentracije stakleničkih plinova koji bi doveo do porasta globalne temperature od oko 2°C). Ti su iznosi znatno manji od onih ranije određenih empirijskom metodom.

M. Orlić i Z. Pasarić u svom članku ističu da bi budući porast morske razine mogao biti veći ukoliko se ubrza otapanje ledenih pokrova na Grenlandu i Antarktici, ali i naglašavaju da se takav proces ne može obuhvatiti empirijskom metodom u njenom sadašnjem obliku - naveli su iz Geofizičkog odsjeka Prirodoslovno-matematičkog fakulteta Sveučilišta u Zagrebu.
