Tek što je jedan Daniil, onaj Medvedev, na US Openu osvojio prvi Grand Slam, odmah je drugi Daniil, prezimena Ostapenkov, kreirao možda i najveću senzaciju u povijesti Davis Cupa. 

Taj, do prije koji dan potpuno nepoznati bjeloruski junior, šokirao je Diega Schwartzmana u Svjetskoj skupini 1 i to u Buenos Airesu i to na zemlji, Argentinčevoj najdražoj podlozi. Odličnim serviranjem i kvalitetnim forhendima Ostapenkov je sa 6:4, 6:3 utišao 2500 domaćih navijača.

Koliko je ovo velik šok pokazat će vam sljedeće činjenice. Schwartzman je 15. tenisač svijeta (prošle godine bio je i 8.), a osamnaestogodišnji Ostapenkov uopće nema renking. Bjelorus nikada nije odigrao ni jedan meč na ATP Touru, Challengerima ili Futuresima. Ništa. Čak ni u juniorskim okvirima do sada nije pokazivao veliku perspektivu. U svjetskom je poretku 63. - za usporedbu, naš Mili Poljičak je 37. - a nedavno je u prvom kolu juniorskog turnira u Novom Sadu sa 6:0, 6:3 izgubio od Nikole Jovanovića iz Srbije, 804. juniora svijeta!

E, da. Na njegovu pobjedu protiv Schwartzmana kladionice su postavile koeficijent - 101! Dakle nitko, baš nitko nije očekivao da će se dogoditi to što se dogodilo, jedno od najvećih iznenađenja u povijesti tenisa uopće. Teniski fanatici morali su dobro protrljati oči kad su vidjeli rezultat, misleći da se možda radi o kakvoj pogrešci. Ali, nije bila greška. Ostapenkov je doveo Bjelorusiju u vodstvo, a kasnije je Guido Pella protiv Erika Arutiuniana ipak poravnao na 1-1 nakon prvog dana.

- Na juniorskim turnirima inače ne igram tako dobro. Ovaj je put bilo drukčije, meč je imao poseban osjećaj. I ja sam se iznenadio. Nadam se da mogu nastaviti ovako igrati - skroman je u komentarima bio neočekivani pobjednik čiji nam je primjer još jednom pokazao koliko je Davis Cup nepredvidljivo natjecanje u kojemu vrijede neka druga pravila, a uloge favorita postoje samo na papiru. Očito inspiriran sjajnim partijama svojih vršnjaka nedavno na Grand Slamu u New Yorku, Ostapenkov je majstorski iskoristio nedvojbeno loš dan favoriziranog Argentinca.

- Nikako nisam uspijevao pronaći pravi ritam. Bilo je teško analizirati mog suparnika jer ga ne poznajem s Toura. Odigrao je savršeno. Servisom i forhendom nanio mi je dosta štete. Ovo je bio jedan od mojih najgorih mečeva. Ništa nisam radio dobro - samokritičan je bio Schwartzman (29), vlasnik četiri ATP titule i lanjski polufinalist Roland Garrosa. Prošle je godine u Rimu na zemlji čak pobijedio Rafaela Nadala.

No, ovo definitivno nije bio njegov dan. Poskliznuo se protiv bjeloruskog autsajdera koji je ovim skalpom skrenuo pažnju teniskog svijeta na sebe. Svi će sada s velikom pozornošću pratiti je li ovo bio samo jednokratan bljesak ili pak prvo poglavlje jedne lijepe karijere Daniila Ostapenkova.

Tek što je jedan Daniil, onaj Medvedev, na US Openu osvojio prvi Grand Slam, odmah je drugi Daniil, prezimena Ostapenkov, kreirao možda i najveću senzaciju u povijesti Davis Cupa. 

Taj, do prije koji dan potpuno nepoznati bjeloruski junior, šokirao je Diega Schwartzmana u Svjetskoj skupini 1 i to u Buenos Airesu i to na zemlji, Argentinčevoj najdražoj podlozi. Odličnim serviranjem i kvalitetnim forhendima Ostapenkov je sa 6:4, 6:3 utišao 2500 domaćih navijača.

Koliko je ovo velik šok pokazat će vam sljedeće činjenice. Schwartzman je 15. tenisač svijeta (prošle godine bio je i 8.), a osamnaestogodišnji Ostapenkov uopće nema renking. Bjelorus nikada nije odigrao ni jedan meč na ATP Touru, Challengerima ili Futuresima. Ništa. Čak ni u juniorskim okvirima do sada nije pokazivao veliku perspektivu. U svjetskom je poretku 63. - za usporedbu, naš Mili Poljičak je 37. - a nedavno je u prvom kolu juniorskog turnira u Novom Sadu sa 6:0, 6:3 izgubio od Nikole Jovanovića iz Srbije, 804. juniora svijeta!

E, da. Na njegovu pobjedu protiv Schwartzmana kladionice su postavile koeficijent - 101! Dakle nitko, baš nitko nije očekivao da će se dogoditi to što se dogodilo, jedno od najvećih iznenađenja u povijesti tenisa uopće. Teniski fanatici morali su dobro protrljati oči kad su vidjeli rezultat, misleći da se možda radi o kakvoj pogrešci. Ali, nije bila greška. Ostapenkov je doveo Bjelorusiju u vodstvo, a kasnije je Guido Pella protiv Erika Arutiuniana ipak poravnao na 1-1 nakon prvog dana.

- Na juniorskim turnirima inače ne igram tako dobro. Ovaj je put bilo drukčije, meč je imao poseban osjećaj. I ja sam se iznenadio. Nadam se da mogu nastaviti ovako igrati - skroman je u komentarima bio neočekivani pobjednik čiji nam je primjer još jednom pokazao koliko je Davis Cup nepredvidljivo natjecanje u kojemu vrijede neka druga pravila, a uloge favorita postoje samo na papiru. Očito inspiriran sjajnim partijama svojih vršnjaka nedavno na Grand Slamu u New Yorku, Ostapenkov je majstorski iskoristio nedvojbeno loš dan favoriziranog Argentinca.

- Nikako nisam uspijevao pronaći pravi ritam. Bilo je teško analizirati mog suparnika jer ga ne poznajem s Toura. Odigrao je savršeno. Servisom i forhendom nanio mi je dosta štete. Ovo je bio jedan od mojih najgorih mečeva. Ništa nisam radio dobro - samokritičan je bio Schwartzman (29), vlasnik četiri ATP titule i lanjski polufinalist Roland Garrosa. Prošle je godine u Rimu na zemlji čak pobijedio Rafaela Nadala.

No, ovo definitivno nije bio njegov dan. Poskliznuo se protiv bjeloruskog autsajdera koji je ovim skalpom skrenuo pažnju teniskog svijeta na sebe. Svi će sada s velikom pozornošću pratiti je li ovo bio samo jednokratan bljesak ili pak prvo poglavlje jedne lijepe karijere Daniila Ostapenkova.

Tek što je jedan Daniil, onaj Medvedev, na US Openu osvojio prvi Grand Slam, odmah je drugi Daniil, prezimena Ostapenkov, kreirao možda i najveću senzaciju u povijesti Davis Cupa. 

Taj, do prije koji dan potpuno nepoznati bjeloruski junior, šokirao je Diega Schwartzmana u Svjetskoj skupini 1 i to u Buenos Airesu i to na zemlji, Argentinčevoj najdražoj podlozi. Odličnim serviranjem i kvalitetnim forhendima Ostapenkov je sa 6:4, 6:3 utišao 2500 domaćih navijača.

Koliko je ovo velik šok pokazat će vam sljedeće činjenice. Schwartzman je 15. tenisač svijeta (prošle godine bio je i 8.), a osamnaestogodišnji Ostapenkov uopće nema renking. Bjelorus nikada nije odigrao ni jedan meč na ATP Touru, Challengerima ili Futuresima. Ništa. Čak ni u juniorskim okvirima do sada nije pokazivao vel...
