- Ovo je nešto fantastično, izvanredno, jedinstveno i teško da će se ikada više ponoviti - oduševljen je podvigom naših parova legendarni Nikola Pilić. 

U razgovoru za “Slobodnu” rekao nam je da je početkom turnira imao predosjećaj da bi se moglo dogoditi nešto veliko.

Osjetio je nešto

- Ma, čim su Pavić i Mektić okrenuli 0-5 u “tie breaku” prvog seta u prvom kolu protiv Brazilaca, znao sam da to mora biti neki signal. Iskoristili smo to što su naši parovi bili u suprotnim stranama ždrijeba i došli do nečega što smo samo mogli sanjati. 

Mnogi veliki teniski parovi nisu uspjeli osvojiti olimpijsku medalju, kamoli zlatnu, a Hrvati će danas u Tokiju uzeti i zlato i srebro.

- U posljednjih 30-ak godina ponajbolji parovi svijeta nisu osvojili ništa, no ove je godine priča drukčija jer se ne igra cijeli treći set, već “super tie break” do 10 poena. Svejedno treba našim parovima skinuti kapu. Da nam je netko prije početka turnira ponudio jednu medalju, prihvatili bismo, a dobit ćemo dvije. To je nevjerojatno. 

Nismo vjerojatno ni svjesni što ovaj rezultat znači.

- Puno ovaj pothvat može značiti klincima u Hrvatskoj koji gledaju. Može ih motivirati za tenis, za sport, a zna se da smo mi oduvijek bili talentirani za sportove, pogotovo one s loptom.

Kao igrač Pilić nažalost nije imao privilegiju nastupati na Olimpijskim igrama jer tenisa nije bilo u olimpijskom programu od 1924. do 1988. godine, ali je kao trener i izbornik reprezentacija skupio podosta iskustva.

‘Boro Jovanović i ja nismo imali tu priliku’

- Bio sam s Nijemcima u Seoulu, Barceloni i Atlanti, s Ančićem i Ljubičićem u Ateni, ali naravno da mi je žao što nisam mogao igrati na Olimpijskim igrama, pogotovo jer smo Boro Jovanović i ja nekoć bili među najboljim parovima svijeta. Je, igrao sam za reprezentaciju bivše države u Davis Cupu, ali ovo bi ipak bile drukčije emocije, nešto posebno što bi mi ostalo za cijeli život.

Tko je favorit danas?

- Šanse su 50-50. Mektić i Pavić sjajno igraju sve važne poene, kad god treba izvuku se, a Marin i Ivan već su znali zajedno igrati dobro u Davis Cupu tako da me njihov rezultat ne čudi. Marin u singlu teško dobiva duge poene, a kod parova dugih poena nema. Ove kratke on odigrava jako dobro, puno je staloženiji nego u singlu.

Za koga ćete navijati?

- Ne želim nikoga favorizirati. Navijat ću za onoga tko bude igrao bolje! - zaključio je Pilić.

- Ovo je nešto fantastično, izvanredno, jedinstveno i teško da će se ikada više ponoviti - oduševljen je podvigom naših parova legendarni Nikola Pilić. 

U razgovoru za “Slobodnu” rekao nam je da je početkom turnira imao predosjećaj da bi se moglo dogoditi nešto veliko.

Osjetio je nešto

- Ma, čim su Pavić i Mektić okrenuli 0-5 u “tie breaku” prvog seta u prvom kolu protiv Brazilaca, znao sam da to mora biti neki signal. Iskoristili smo to što su naši parovi bili u suprotnim stranama ždrijeba i došli do nečega što smo samo mogli sanjati. 

Mnogi veliki teniski parovi nisu uspjeli osvojiti olimpijsku medalju, kamoli zlatnu, a Hrvati će danas u Tokiju uzeti i zlato i srebro.

- U posljednjih 30-ak godina ponajbolji parovi svijeta nisu osvojili ništa, no ove je godine priča drukčija jer se ne igra cijeli treći set, već “super tie break” do 10 poena. Svejedno treba našim parovima skinuti kapu. Da nam je netko prije početka turnira ponudio jednu medalju, prihvatili bismo, a dobit ćemo dvije. To je nevjerojatno. 

Nismo vjerojatno ni svjesni što ovaj rezultat znači.

- Puno ovaj pothvat može značiti klincima u Hrvatskoj koji gledaju. Može ih motivirati za tenis, za sport, a zna se da smo mi oduvijek bili talentirani za sportove, pogotovo one s loptom.

Kao igrač Pilić nažalost nije imao privilegiju nastupati na Olimpijskim igrama jer tenisa nije bilo u olimpijskom programu od 1924. do 1988. godine, ali je kao trener i izbornik reprezentacija skupio podosta iskustva.

‘Boro Jovanović i ja nismo imali tu priliku’

- Bio sam s Nijemcima u Seoulu, Barceloni i Atlanti, s Ančićem i Ljubičićem u Ateni, ali naravno da mi je žao što nisam mogao igrati na Olimpijskim igrama, pogotovo jer smo Boro Jovanović i ja nekoć bili među najboljim parovima svijeta. Je, igrao sam za reprezentaciju bivše države u Davis Cupu, ali ovo bi ipak bile drukčije emocije, nešto posebno što bi mi ostalo za cijeli život.

Tko je favorit danas?

- Šanse su 50-50. Mektić i Pavić sjajno igraju sve važne poene, kad god treba izvuku se, a Marin i Ivan već su znali zajedno igrati dobro u Davis Cupu tako da me njihov rezultat ne čudi. Marin u singlu teško dobiva duge poene, a kod parova dugih poena nema. Ove kratke on odigrava jako dobro, puno je staloženiji nego u singlu.

Za koga ćete navijati?

- Ne želim nikoga favorizirati. Navijat ću za onoga tko bude igrao bolje! - zaključio je Pilić.

- Ovo je nešto fantastično, izvanredno, jedinstveno i teško da će se ikada više ponoviti - oduševljen je podvigom naših parova legendarni Nikola Pilić. 

U razgovoru za “Slobodnu” rekao nam je da je početkom turnira imao predosjećaj da bi se moglo dogoditi nešto veliko.

Osjetio je nešto

- Ma, čim su Pavić i Mektić okrenuli 0-5 u “tie breaku” prvog seta u prvom kolu protiv Brazilaca, znao sam da to mora biti neki signal. Iskoristili smo to što su naši parovi bili u suprotnim stranama ždrijeba i došli do nečega što smo samo mogli sanjati. 

Mnogi veliki teniski parovi nisu uspjeli osvojiti olimpijsku medalju, kamoli zlatnu, a Hrvati će danas u Tokiju uzeti i zlato i srebro.
