Na suncem okupanim terenima na Firulama konačno smo vidjeli i nastupe naših glavnih uzdanica. Smirio se i vjetar omogućivši tako gotovo savršene uvjete za igru. Prvi je na teren izašao Luka Mikrut. Hrabro se 17-godišnji tenisač s Visoke suprotstavio favoriziranom Blažu Roli, nekadašnjem top 100 igraču koji je najbolji plasman ostvario 2015. godine kada je bio 78 tenisač svijeta. Iskusni, 14 godina stariji Slovenac na koncu je nakon velike drame u tri seta slavio sa 6:3, 4:6, 7:6.

Pružio je Luka sjajan otpor, osvojio drugi set, a u trećem Slovenca odvukao sve do tie-breaka u kojem je tijesno izgubio. Zaostajao je 1:4, serijom od četiri vezana poena vratio se i poveo 5:4, pa zatim spasio meč loptu, ali Rola je ipak pobijedio s 8:6. Iskustvo je za dlaku presudilo i uskratilo nam ogromnu senzaciju već prvog dana glavnog ždrijeba.

Ali ništa za to, iskustvo na splitskom Challengeru zlata je vrijedno za tenisača čije najbolje godine tek trebaju doći. Nećemo tako gledati okršaj dvojice Splićana u drugom kolu. Naime, ždrijeb je predvidio meč Mikruta i Milija Poljička, ali to se ipak neće dogoditi.

Dočekali smo tako početak glavnog ždrijeba splitskog Challengera. Završile su kvalifikacije iz kojih se, nažalost, nije izvukao nijedan Hrvat. Najbliži je bio Duje Kekez koji je prošao prvo kolo svladavši Francuza Mattea Martineaua s 1:6, 6:3, 6:4. U drugom kolu. U drugom kolu je izgubio od mladog Talijana Luce Nardija s 3:6, 6:7. Već na samom startu kvalifikacije oprostili su se Božo Barun, Domagoj Bilješko i Noa Vukadin, bez ispaljenog metka jer nisu uspjeli uzeti ni set.

Prvi je svoj posao riješio Australac Christopher O'Connell (147.). S laganih 6:2, 6:3 svladao je Francuza Gregoirea Barrerea (229.) i izborio drugo kolo u kojem ga čeka Slovak Lukas Klein (303.). On je na startu bio bolji od Andreja Kuznjecova (227.) sa 6:4, 7:5.

Prvu prepreku prošao je i Nizozemac Jelle Sels (253.) iznenadivši Francuza Enza Couacauda (175.) s uvjerljivih 6:3, 6:1.

Naš najbolji junior Mili Poljičak (17) odveo je susret protiv Poljaka Kacpera Zuka, 252. na ATP listi, do trećeg seta, no u završnici mu je ponestalo snage - bilo je 5:7, 6:2, 6:1 za osmog nositelja turnira.

Na suncem okupanim terenima na Firulama konačno smo vidjeli i nastupe naših glavnih uzdanica. Smirio se i vjetar omogućivši tako gotovo savršene uvjete za igru. Prvi je na teren izašao Luka Mikrut. Hrabro se 17-godišnji tenisač s Visoke suprotstavio favoriziranom Blažu Roli, nekadašnjem top 100 igraču koji je najbolji plasman ostvario 2015. godine kada je bio 78 tenisač svijeta. Iskusni, 14 godina stariji Slovenac na koncu je nakon velike drame u tri seta slavio sa 6:3, 4:6, 7:6.

Pružio je Luka sjajan otpor, osvojio drugi set, a u trećem Slovenca odvukao sve do tie-breaka u kojem je tijesno izgubio. Zaostajao je 1:4, serijom od četiri vezana poena vratio se i poveo 5:4, pa zatim spasio meč loptu, ali Rola je ipak pobijedio s 8:6. Iskustvo je za dlaku presudilo i uskratilo nam ogromnu senzaciju već prvog dana glavnog ždrijeba.

Ali ništa za to, iskustvo na splitskom Challengeru zlata je vrijedno za tenisača čije najbolje godine tek trebaju doći. Nećemo tako gledati okršaj dvojice Splićana u drugom kolu. Naime, ždrijeb je predvidio meč Mikruta i Milija Poljička, ali to se ipak neće dogoditi.

Dočekali smo tako početak glavnog ždrijeba splitskog Challengera. Završile su kvalifikacije iz kojih se, nažalost, nije izvukao nijedan Hrvat. Najbliži je bio Duje Kekez koji je prošao prvo kolo svladavši Francuza Mattea Martineaua s 1:6, 6:3, 6:4. U drugom kolu. U drugom kolu je izgubio od mladog Talijana Luce Nardija s 3:6, 6:7. Već na samom startu kvalifikacije oprostili su se Božo Barun, Domagoj Bilješko i Noa Vukadin, bez ispaljenog metka jer nisu uspjeli uzeti ni set.

Prvi je svoj posao riješio Australac Christopher O'Connell (147.). S laganih 6:2, 6:3 svladao je Francuza Gregoirea Barrerea (229.) i izborio drugo kolo u kojem ga čeka Slovak Lukas Klein (303.). On je na startu bio bolji od Andreja Kuznjecova (227.) sa 6:4, 7:5.

Prvu prepreku prošao je i Nizozemac Jelle Sels (253.) iznenadivši Francuza Enza Couacauda (175.) s uvjerljivih 6:3, 6:1.

Naš najbolji junior Mili Poljičak (17) odveo je susret protiv Poljaka Kacpera Zuka, 252. na ATP listi, do trećeg seta, no u završnici mu je ponestalo snage - bilo je 5:7, 6:2, 6:1 za osmog nositelja turnira.

Mikrut ostao na korak do senzacije: završile su kvalifikacije iz kojih se nije izvukao nijedan Hrvat

Na suncem okupanim terenima na Firulama konačno smo vidjeli i nastupe naših glavnih uzdanica. Smirio se i vjetar omogućivši tako gotovo savršene uvjete za igru. Prvi je na teren izašao Luka Mikrut. Hrabro se 17-godišnji tenisač s Visoke suprotstavio favoriziranom Blažu Roli, nekadašnjem top 100 igraču koji je najbolji plasman ostvario 2015. godine kada je bio 78 tenisač svijeta. Iskusni, 14 godina stariji Slovenac na koncu je nakon velike drame u tri seta slavio sa 6:3, 4:6, 7:6.

Pružio je Luka sjajan otpor, osvojio drugi set, a u trećem Slovenca odvukao sve do tie-breaka u kojem je tijesno izgubio. Zaostajao je 1:4, serijom od četiri vezana poena vratio se i poveo 5:4, pa zatim spasio meč loptu, ali Rola je ipak pobijedio s 8:6. Iskustvo je za dlaku presudilo i uskratilo nam...
