Australija i Francuska ovog će vikenda u Perthu igrati posljednje finale Fed Cupa po starom sustavu. Nakon Davis Cupa i Fed Cup će promijeniti svoj format pa će se tako za titulu pobjednika iduće godini u travnju u Budimpešti tijekom jednog tjedna natjecati dvanaest ekipa.

Prva tenisačica svijeta Australka Ashleigh Barty imat će priliku osvojiti Fed kup za svoju zemlju nakon četrdeset pet godina. Do tada su bili uspješni sedam puta, a od 1974. godine i vremena Evonne Goolagong Australija više nije ni jednom osvojila ovo natjecanje.

S druge strane je Francuska koja je tri puta slavila u Fed kupu. Predvodi je njihova najbolja tenisačica Kristina Mladenović, 40. na WTA ljestvici, a u reprezentaciji su još i Caroline Garcia (WTA-45.), Alize Cornet (WTA-60.), Fiona Ferro (WTA-63.) i Pauline Parmentier (WTA-122.).

Francuska je samo jednom u povijesti pobijedila Australiju u Fed kupu, 2000. godine.

Australija, koja je posljednji put igrala u finalu 1993. godine, polaže sve nade u Ashleigh Barty koja je ove godine osvojila svoj prvi grand slam turnir Roland Garros, sezonu je završila na prvom mjestu WTA ljestvice te je osvojila završni WTA Masters s rekordnom novčanom nagradom od 4,3 milijuna eura.

Osim nje, boje Australije branit će Ajla Tomljanović (WTA-51.), Samantha Stosur (WTA-96.), Astra Sharma (WTA-108.) i Priscilla Hon (WTA-126.).

Iduće godine u travnju na završnici u Budimpešti nastupit će 12 reprezentacija, s tim da će ovogodišnji finalisti Francuska i Australija te Mađarska kao domaćin biti izravno plasirani uz još jednu reprezentaciju s pozivnicom, dok će ostalih osam zemalja sudionica morati proći doigravanje u veljači.

Australija i Francuska ovog će vikenda u Perthu igrati posljednje finale Fed Cupa po starom sustavu. Nakon Davis Cupa i Fed Cup će promijeniti svoj format pa će se tako za titulu pobjednika iduće godini u travnju u Budimpešti tijekom jednog tjedna natjecati dvanaest ekipa.

Prva tenisačica svijeta Australka Ashleigh Barty imat će priliku osvojiti Fed kup za svoju zemlju nakon četrdeset pet godina. Do tada su bili uspješni sedam puta, a od 1974. godine i vremena Evonne Goolagong Australija više nije ni jednom osvojila ovo natjecanje.

S druge strane je Francuska koja je tri puta slavila u Fed kupu. Predvodi je njihova najbolja tenisačica Kristina Mladenović, 40. na WTA ljestvici, a u reprezentaciji su još i Caroline Garcia (WTA-45.), Alize Cornet (WTA-60.), Fiona Ferro (WTA-63.) i Pauline Parmentier (WTA-122.).

Francuska je samo jednom u povijesti pobijedila Australiju u Fed kupu, 2000. godine.

Australija, koja je posljednji put igrala u finalu 1993. godine, polaže sve nade u Ashleigh Barty koja je ove godine osvojila svoj prvi grand slam turnir Roland Garros, sezonu je završila na prvom mjestu WTA ljestvice te je osvojila završni WTA Masters s rekordnom novčanom nagradom od 4,3 milijuna eura.

Osim nje, boje Australije branit će Ajla Tomljanović (WTA-51.), Samantha Stosur (WTA-96.), Astra Sharma (WTA-108.) i Priscilla Hon (WTA-126.).

Iduće godine u travnju na završnici u Budimpešti nastupit će 12 reprezentacija, s tim da će ovogodišnji finalisti Francuska i Australija te Mađarska kao domaćin biti izravno plasirani uz još jednu reprezentaciju s pozivnicom, dok će ostalih osam zemalja sudionica morati proći doigravanje u veljači.
