Kakav lik taj Matija Pecotić! Za film snimiti. Površni poznavatelji tenisa vjerojatno pojma nemaju ko je taj. "Matija, who?". Nije za čuditi, jer u teniskoj karijeri ovaj, danas 34-godišnjak, nije bog zna šta napravio. Na ATP listi bolje od 209. mjesta nije išao, a i od toga ima već debelih osam godina...

Zbog čega onda ovo pišem? Zato šta je Matija čudo lik. Poseban. O njegovom životu (Beograd, Malta, SAD) neću sad, otišlo bi udugo, više ću o tenisu. O igraču koji nikad nije ušao u Top 200, a za kojeg će mnogi reći da je bio materijal za velike stvari. Neki su ga vidjeli i u Top 30, čak i jedan Stefanos Tsitsipas kojeg je Matija dobio u sparing meču kada je Grk bio deveti reket svijeta...

Zbog čega onda Pecotić nije napravio puno više u svijetu tenisa? Dva su razloga. Prvi je operacija bruha 2016. godine koja ga je udaljila od teniskih terena punih osam mjeseci, baš u doba kad je nadirao na ATP listi, a drugi je njegov izbor da znanost stavi ispred tenisa. Poslovna karijera ispred teniske. Pa je diplomirao na dva prestižna američka sveučilišta, Princetonu (politika i financije) i Harvardu (biznis) i danas je direktor u tvrtki vrijednoj četiri milijarde dolara.

Radi po cijele dane, od jutra do sutra, dok drugi profesionalci treniraju on - radi u uredu. A tenis trenira onako, iz gušta, ponekad i sa svojim šefom koji je prešao 70 godina.---

Zbog čega onda ovo pišem, opet se pitate. I opet isti odgovor. Zato šta je Matija čudo lik. Prije pola godine pojavio se na teniskom terenu "niotkud", de facto bez bodova i rankinga. Već smo i zaboravili da je igrao tenis. Došao i šokirao svih. Prošao kvalifikacije Delray Beacha preko dva dobra tenisača (Kozlov, Sandgren), potonji je bio i 41. reket svijeta, a onda u prvom kolu pobijedio i bivšeg Top 10 igrača Jacka Socka!

Onda ga opet nije bilo, posao je prioritet, pa se pojavio prije desetak dana na challengeru u Salinasu i tamo došao do finala.

Ta dva rezultata spustila su ga za skoro 400 mjesta na ATP listi, sada je 435. Ali, bit će još bolji, zato ovo pišem, jer je Matija još jednom šokirao. Sinoć je u kvalifikacijama Mastersa u Torontu, to su vam najjači turniri poslije četiri Grand Slama, izbacio 113. igrača svijeta Bjelorusa Ilju Ivašku. Lagano, u dva seta, 6:2, 7:6(3), A moglo je i lakše, vodio je naš tenisač 6:2, 3:0, uz dvostruki "brejk" u drugom. A taj Ivaška je početkom ovog tjedna u meksičkom Los Cabosu izbacio našeg Bornu Goju koji je pragu ulaska u Top 100.

Matija Pecotić je baš lik. Nema ga, ali kad se pojavi, onda je to to. Delray Beach, Salinas, Toronto... Potvrda koliko vrijedi i koliko je mogao. Ne zaboravite, dok drugi treniraju on radi u tvrtki. Ima 34 godine, nema vremena za treninge. Ako i stigne partner na terenu mu je 73-godišnji šef. I onda dobije svu ovu ekipu...

Bravo za poslovnu karijeru, veliki bravo, ali šteta za tenis. Mogao je puno, puno više.---

Kakav lik taj Matija Pecotić! Za film snimiti. Površni poznavatelji tenisa vjerojatno pojma nemaju ko je taj. "Matija, who?". Nije za čuditi, jer u teniskoj karijeri ovaj, danas 34-godišnjak, nije bog zna šta napravio. Na ATP listi bolje od 209. mjesta nije išao, a i od toga ima već debelih osam godina...

Zbog čega onda ovo pišem? Zato šta je Matija čudo lik. Poseban. O njegovom životu (Beograd, Malta, SAD) neću sad, otišlo bi udugo, više ću o tenisu. O igraču koji nikad nije ušao u Top 200, a za kojeg će mnogi reći da je bio materijal za velike stvari. Neki su ga vidjeli i u Top 30, čak i jedan Stefanos Tsitsipas kojeg je Matija dobio u sparing meču kada je Grk bio deveti reket svijeta...

Zbog čega onda Pecotić nije napravio puno više u svijetu tenisa? Dva su razloga. Prvi je operacija bruha 2016. godine koja ga je udaljila od teniskih terena punih osam mjeseci, baš u doba kad je nadirao na ATP listi, a drugi je njegov izbor da znanost stavi ispred tenisa. Poslovna karijera ispred teniske. Pa je diplomirao na dva prestižna američka sveučilišta, Princetonu (politika i financije) i Harvardu (biznis) i danas je direktor u tvrtki vrijednoj četiri milijarde dolara.

Radi po cijele dane, od jutra do sutra, dok drugi profesionalci treniraju on - radi u uredu. A tenis trenira onako, iz gušta, ponekad i sa svojim šefom koji je prešao 70 godina.---

Zbog čega onda ovo pišem, opet se pitate. I opet isti odgovor. Zato šta je Matija čudo lik. Prije pola godine pojavio se na teniskom terenu "niotkud", de facto bez bodova i rankinga. Već smo i zaboravili da je igrao tenis. Došao i šokirao svih. Prošao kvalifikacije Delray Beacha preko dva dobra tenisača (Kozlov, Sandgren), potonji je bio i 41. reket svijeta, a onda u prvom kolu pobijedio i bivšeg Top 10 igrača Jacka Socka!

Onda ga opet nije bilo, posao je prioritet, pa se pojavio prije desetak dana na challengeru u Salinasu i tamo došao do finala.

Ta dva rezultata spustila su ga za skoro 400 mjesta na ATP listi, sada je 435. Ali, bit će još bolji, zato ovo pišem, jer je Matija još jednom šokirao. Sinoć je u kvalifikacijama Mastersa u Torontu, to su vam najjači turniri poslije četiri Grand Slama, izbacio 113. igrača svijeta Bjelorusa Ilju Ivašku. Lagano, u dva seta, 6:2, 7:6(3), A moglo je i lakše, vodio je naš tenisač 6:2, 3:0, uz dvostruki "brejk" u drugom. A taj Ivaška je početkom ovog tjedna u meksičkom Los Cabosu izbacio našeg Bornu Goju koji je pragu ulaska u Top 100.

Matija Pecotić je baš lik. Nema ga, ali kad se pojavi, onda je to to. Delray Beach, Salinas, Toronto... Potvrda koliko vrijedi i koliko je mogao. Ne zaboravite, dok drugi treniraju on radi u tvrtki. Ima 34 godine, nema vremena za treninge. Ako i stigne partner na terenu mu je 73-godišnji šef. I onda dobije svu ovu ekipu...

Bravo za poslovnu karijeru, veliki bravo, ali šteta za tenis. Mogao je puno, puno više.---
