Na kraju sezone koja je prošla ispod svih njegovih očekivanja, Borna Ćorić nije dugo oklijevao. U pripreme za 2020. ući će s novim trenerom, 39-godišnjim Čehom Martinom Štěpánekom, pišu Sportske Novosti.

Intervencija u stožeru nametala se kao logičan potez nakon što je Zagrepčanin u posljednjim tjednima sezone nizao isključivo razočaranja. Posljednju pobjedu upisao je u rujnu u Zhuhaiju, protiv Kineza Wua, a nakon toga redom gubio od De Minaura, Daniela, Rubljeva, Kukuškina i Verdasca. Godinu će završiti kao 27. tenisač svijeta, što je za čak 15 mjesta lošije nego lani.

I tu u priču ulijeće Štěpánek, kojeg će se hrvatski ljubitelji tenisa vjerojatno sjetiti iz razdoblja dok je surađivao s Ivanom Dodigom. Bio mu je to prvi ozbiljan trenerski angažman, trajao je šest godina, a Dodig je pod Štepánekovom paskom ostvario svoje najbolje plasmane u singlu (29.) i parovima (4.), kao i najveću pobjedu karijere, protiv Rafaela Nadala u Montrealu 2011.

Osim Dodiga je Štepánek, koji nije ni u kakvom rodu s poznatijim Radekom, trenirao i Lukáša Dlouhýja i Frederica Gila, a posljednji angažman bio mu je Tomáš Berdych. Bivši Top 5 igrač i finalist Wimbledona danas je izvan društva 100 najboljih, a posljednji je meč odigrao na US Openu.

Što Štepánek kao sedmi trener u njegovoj karijeri može donijeti Borni? U prvom redu osvježenje i novi pristup. Ćorić se tražio i prije i nakon raskida s Riccardom Piattijem, budući da mu je cijela sezona bila ispresijecana ozljedama. Antonio Veić, kojega je angažirao nakon što se razbolio Kristijan Schneider, ionako je bio samo privremeno rješenje.

Veić će se tako vratiti suradnji s Anom Konjuh koja se priprema za još jedan pokušaj povratka na WTA Tour. A Bornu prije početka priprema čeka još Davis Cup u Madridu, na kojem Hrvatska brani naslov.

Na kraju sezone koja je prošla ispod svih njegovih očekivanja, Borna Ćorić nije dugo oklijevao. U pripreme za 2020. ući će s novim trenerom, 39-godišnjim Čehom Martinom Štěpánekom, pišu Sportske Novosti.

Intervencija u stožeru nametala se kao logičan potez nakon što je Zagrepčanin u posljednjim tjednima sezone nizao isključivo razočaranja. Posljednju pobjedu upisao je u rujnu u Zhuhaiju, protiv Kineza Wua, a nakon toga redom gubio od De Minaura, Daniela, Rubljeva, Kukuškina i Verdasca. Godinu će završiti kao 27. tenisač svijeta, što je za čak 15 mjesta lošije nego lani.

I tu u priču ulijeće Štěpánek, kojeg će se hrvatski ljubitelji tenisa vjerojatno sjetiti iz razdoblja dok je surađivao s Ivanom Dodigom. Bio mu je to prvi ozbiljan trenerski angažman, trajao je šest godina, a Dodig je pod Štepánekovom paskom ostvario svoje najbolje plasmane u singlu (29.) i parovima (4.), kao i najveću pobjedu karijere, protiv Rafaela Nadala u Montrealu 2011.

Osim Dodiga je Štepánek, koji nije ni u kakvom rodu s poznatijim Radekom, trenirao i Lukáša Dlouhýja i Frederica Gila, a posljednji angažman bio mu je Tomáš Berdych. Bivši Top 5 igrač i finalist Wimbledona danas je izvan društva 100 najboljih, a posljednji je meč odigrao na US Openu.

Što Štepánek kao sedmi trener u njegovoj karijeri može donijeti Borni? U prvom redu osvježenje i novi pristup. Ćorić se tražio i prije i nakon raskida s Riccardom Piattijem, budući da mu je cijela sezona bila ispresijecana ozljedama. Antonio Veić, kojega je angažirao nakon što se razbolio Kristijan Schneider, ionako je bio samo privremeno rješenje.

Veić će se tako vratiti suradnji s Anom Konjuh koja se priprema za još jedan pokušaj povratka na WTA Tour. A Bornu prije početka priprema čeka još Davis Cup u Madridu, na kojem Hrvatska brani naslov.
