Gostujući u emisiji (Ne)uspjeh prvaka s Mariom Stanićem koja je emitirana na Arenasportu proslavljeni trener Vahid Halilhodžić govorio je o svojoj igračkoj, trenerskoj i izborničkoj karijeri, životu, ratu na ovim prostorima... Prisjetio se bivši trener PSG-a i Dinama i početaka igračke karijere u Veležu iz Mostara. Stručnjak rodom iz Jablanice se na tu temu između ostalog dotaknuo i splitskog Hajduka.
- Generacija u kojoj sam igrao, iako sam bio mlađi, i ova druga s Tuceom, Kajtazom... to su vjerojatno dvije generacije koje su morale biti šampioni, ali smo pokradeni. Moja je generacija pokradena od Hajduka. Ja znam da su kupili utakmicu u Beogradu protiv OFK Beograda, Borota golman... Sve to znam. I ova druga generacija isto tako, odigrala je neriješeno u Tuzli. U to vrijeme ti si po tome bio mali klub – rekao je Halilhodžić.
Spominjući Hajduk, aludirao je Halilhodžić na zadnje kolo prvenstvene sezone 1973/74. Pobjedom u zadnjem kolu kod OFK Beograda 2:0 pogocima Vilsona Džonija i Jurice Jerkovića Hajduk je postao prvak ispred Veleža. Mostarcima nije pomogla 3:1 pobjeda u Sarajevu. Hajduk i Velež imali su na koncu isti broj bodova, ali je splitski klub bio prvak zbog bolje ukupne gol razlike. Vratar Beograđana Petar Borota kojeg je kod drugog gola Jerković zavaljao po travnjaku kasnije je branio i za Partizan, Chelsea...
No, nije se na tome zaustavio Halilhodžić u spominjanju Hajduka. Kada je pričao o tome kako je kao ponajbolji napadač pa i igrač prvenstva Jugoslavije imao mizernu ulogu na Svjetskom prvenstvu 1982. godine u Španjolskoj u reprezentaciji Jugoslavije tadašnjeg izbornika Miljana Miljanića između ostalog rekao je.
- To mi je jedna od mojih sportskih trauma, uz ovo što mi se dogodilo kao treneru, da me tri puta nakon izborenog SP-a maknu (kao izbornika Alžira, Japana i Maroka, nap.a.). Malo me to pogodilo. Jedini sam igrač koji nije dobio dozvolu da ode iz države s 28 godina, otišao sam vani s 29 i pol godina. Bio sam standardan i najbolji strijelac A selekcije u kvalifikacijama (bio je to ipak Zlatko Vujović, nap.a.). Plasirali smo se u teškoj grupi s Italijom koja je kasnije bila svjetski prvak. U toj selekciji sam proveo devet godina, a imao sam možda petnaestak nastupa, možda tek sam desetak bio standardan. Bio sam proglašen najboljim igračem, a bio sam rezerva. Tu je politika imala veliki utjecaj. Morali su igrati neki igrači. Posebno su igrači Hajduka i Crvene zvezde imali jaku privilegiju – rekao je Halilhodžić.
- Da nisam otišao u armiju, bio sam kandidat za Barcelonu, jedan od najboljih centarfora Europe. Tražio me i Leeds, na kraju sam otišao u Nantes - dodao je bivši igrač i trener PSG-a.
Prisjetio se Halilhodžić da je tada Jugoslavija igrala bez klasičnog centarfora, u špici je igrao Safet Sušić.
- Pape nije bio centarfor. Mogao sam postati najbolji strijelac Svjetskog prvenstva jer imao sam takve suigrače.
Poslije jedno 30 godina na jednom sportskom skupu u Sarajevu mu se Miljanić ispričao.
- Oprosti, moja grdna greška, rekao je. No, nije mi to nikakva satisfakcija – rekao je Halilhodžić.

Gostujući u emisiji (Ne)uspjeh prvaka s Mariom Stanićem koja je emitirana na Arenasportu proslavljeni trener Vahid Halilhodžić govorio je o svojoj igračkoj, trenerskoj i izborničkoj karijeri, životu, ratu na ovim prostorima... Prisjetio se bivši trener PSG-a i Dinama i početaka igračke karijere u Veležu iz Mostara. Stručnjak rodom iz Jablanice se na tu temu između ostalog dotaknuo i splitskog Hajduka.
- Generacija u kojoj sam igrao, iako sam bio mlađi, i ova druga s Tuceom, Kajtazom... to su vjerojatno dvije generacije koje su morale biti šampioni, ali smo pokradeni. Moja je generacija pokradena od Hajduka. Ja znam da su kupili utakmicu u Beogradu protiv OFK Beograda, Borota golman... Sve to znam. I ova druga generacija isto tako, odigrala je neriješeno u Tuzli. U to vrijeme ti si po tome bio mali klub – rekao je Halilhodžić.
Spominjući Hajduk, aludirao je Halilhodžić na zadnje kolo prvenstvene sezone 1973/74. Pobjedom u zadnjem kolu kod OFK Beograda 2:0 pogocima Vilsona Džonija i Jurice Jerkovića Hajduk je postao prvak ispred Veleža. Mostarcima nije pomogla 3:1 pobjeda u Sarajevu. Hajduk i Velež imali su na koncu isti broj bodova, ali je splitski klub bio prvak zbog bolje ukupne gol razlike. Vratar Beograđana Petar Borota kojeg je kod drugog gola Jerković zavaljao po travnjaku kasnije je branio i za Partizan, Chelsea...
No, nije se na tome zaustavio Halilhodžić u spominjanju Hajduka. Kada je pričao o tome kako je kao ponajbolji napadač pa i igrač prvenstva Jugoslavije imao mizernu ulogu na Svjetskom prvenstvu 1982. godine u Španjolskoj u reprezentaciji Jugoslavije tadašnjeg izbornika Miljana Miljanića između ostalog rekao je.
- To mi je jedna od mojih sportskih trauma, uz ovo što mi se dogodilo kao treneru, da me tri puta nakon izborenog SP-a maknu (kao izbornika Alžira, Japana i Maroka, nap.a.). Malo me to pogodilo. Jedini sam igrač koji nije dobio dozvolu da ode iz države s 28 godina, otišao sam vani s 29 i pol godina. Bio sam standardan i najbolji strijelac A selekcije u kvalifikacijama (bio je to ipak Zlatko Vujović, nap.a.). Plasirali smo se u teškoj grupi s Italijom koja je kasnije bila svjetski prvak. U toj selekciji sam proveo devet godina, a imao sam možda petnaestak nastupa, možda tek sam desetak bio standardan. Bio sam proglašen najboljim igračem, a bio sam rezerva. Tu je politika imala veliki utjecaj. Morali su igrati neki igrači. Posebno su igrači Hajduka i Crvene zvezde imali jaku privilegiju – rekao je Halilhodžić.
- Da nisam otišao u armiju, bio sam kandidat za Barcelonu, jedan od najboljih centarfora Europe. Tražio me i Leeds, na kraju sam otišao u Nantes - dodao je bivši igrač i trener PSG-a.
Prisjetio se Halilhodžić da je tada Jugoslavija igrala bez klasičnog centarfora, u špici je igrao Safet Sušić.
- Pape nije bio centarfor. Mogao sam postati najbolji strijelac Svjetskog prvenstva jer imao sam takve suigrače.
Poslije jedno 30 godina na jednom sportskom skupu u Sarajevu mu se Miljanić ispričao.
- Oprosti, moja grdna greška, rekao je. No, nije mi to nikakva satisfakcija – rekao je Halilhodžić.
