Okončan je prvi krug natjecanja na aktualnom Europskom prvenstvu u nogometu. Sve su se reprezentacije predstavile. Kao i pripadajući stručni stožeri. Većina sudionika Eura prikazala je visoku razinu taktičke rafiniranosti. A pritom se kao zanimljivost može uočiti jedan detalj: svega je pet nacionalnih momčadi (od 24) kojima na izborničkoj klupi sjede – stranci. To su Španjolac Roberto Martinez (Belgija), Talijan Marco Rossi (Mađarska), Nijemac Franco Foda (Austrija) Portugalac Paulo Sousa (Poljska) i bosanski Hrvat Vladimir Petković (Švicarska).

Kada je 2016. Roberto Martinez imenovan belgijskim izbornikom mnogi su komentatori zlurado zaključili: opet se Flamanci i Valonci nisu uspjeli usuglasiti tko će im voditi nogometnu reprezentaciju. Animozitet dviju belgijskih pokrajina često se u prošlosti reflektirao i na nogometni sport. Dominantni Flamanci redovito su gurali svoje stručnjake. Jedan od rijetkih Valonaca izbornika Robert Waseige (vodio je belgijsku reprezentaciju u kvalifikacijama za Svjetsko prvenstvo 2002.) na press-konferencijama je odgovarao na oba jezika – flamanskom i francuskom, a hrvatskim je novinarima iskreno priznao: u Belgiji se kao Belgijac deklarira jedino kralj! Stoga je izbornik-stranac za belgijsku reprezentaciju možda i najsretnije rješenje. Poglavito što Martinez ima i rezultate. Već tri godine Belgija je prva reprezentacija svijeta (po FIFA-inom bodovanju).

Ponudu Mađarskog nogometnog saveza da preuzme nacionalnu momčad Marco Rossi dobio je kao trener Dunajske Strede (nekoć je ondje kao sportski direktor radio Aljoša Asanović). Spomenuti je slovački prvoligaš de facto klub mađarske manjine. Rossi je međutim već imao iskustvo rada u nekim mađarskim klubovima, ali nikada nije obnašao funkciju izbornika. Ta činjenica sasvim izravno sugerira zaključak koliko Mađari ne vjeruju vlastitim trenerima. U posljednjih pet godina Rossi je već treći stranac u svlačionici mađarske momčadi (prije njega ondje su bili Nijemac Bernd Storch i Belgijac Georges Leekens).

U stogodišnjoj povijesti poljskog nogometa Portugalac Paulo Sousa tek je četvrti izbornik- stranac. On je i izbornik s najkraćim stažom. Imenovan je 21. siječnja 2021. Tri dana ranije smijenjen je domaći čovjek – Jerzy Józef Brzęczek. Na Portugalcu je inzistirao osobno predsjednik saveza, Zbigniew Boniek.

Posljednji stranac koji je vodio poljsku reprezentaciju prije Souse bio je Leo Beenhakker, na Euru 2008. Vremešni Nizozemac pozornost je privukao ponajprije jednom izjavom. Uoči utakmice s Hrvatskom kazao je na službenoj press-konferenciji:

- Imamo dobre šanse ako moj prijatelj Slaven Bilić u špicu hrvatskog napada stavi svoju punicu!

Kroz povijest austrijske reprezentacije kao izbornici-stranci spominju se treneri Mađari, Česi, Slovenci, Hrvati (Otto Barić)... Sve su to međutim nacionalnosti koje su participirale u negdašnjem Austro-ugarskom carstvu (konačno, Austrijski je nogometni savez i osnovan 1904.). Prvi izbornik-stranac izvan granica negdašnje monarhije bio je Švicarac Marcel Koller. Njega je pak koncem 2017. naslijedio Nijemac (talijanskih korijena) Franco Foda.

Prethodno je Foda trenirao samo jedan austrijski klub (Sturm). No, razuvjerio je sve skeptike. Od 36 utakmica koliko je austrijski mannschaft odigrao pod vodstvom Fode, ostvario je 21 pobjedu (pet remija i deset poraza), uz učinkovitost od 58%. Spomenuti podatak Fodu predstavlja kao najuspješnijeg austrijskog izbornika u povijesti (u konkurenciji izbornika s više od pet utakmica).

Od 29 izbornika u povijesti švicarske reprezentacije, njih 16 bili su stranci. Među njima i Ćiro Blažević (vodio je dvije utakmice 1976.). I današnji je švicarski izbornik bosanski Hrvat – Vladimir Petković. On je i drugi najdugovječniji izbornik (nakon Nijemca Löwa) na aktualnom Euru. Švicarsku je reprezentaciju preuzeo u srpnju 2014.

U švicarskom nogometu godinama se već provlači fama kako je to ionako sport kojim se bave djeca ausländera (ponajprije Balkanci i Afrikanci). Sudeći po prezimenima, koja reprezentiraju Švicarsku, spomenuta teza i nije daleko od istine.

Najdugovječniji Loew

Za veliku većinu trenera na aktualnom Euru trenutačni je angažman prvo izborničko iskušenje. Samo su dvojica već radila kao izbornici. Portugalac Fernando Santos vodio je reprezentaciju Grčke (2010-2014.), a Senol Günes (sa 69 godina on je i najstariji izbornik na Euru) već je vodio reprezentaciju Turske (2000-2004.) te ostvario najveći uspjeh u povijesti (treće mjesto na Svjetskom prvenstvu 2002.).

Neki izbornici imaju iskustvo vođenja mlađih selekcija (Gareth Southgate s Engleskom U21, Robert Page – Wales U21, Markku Kanerva – Finska U21, te Paulo Sousa – Portugal U16). Neki su izvjesno vrijeme radili i kao asistenti (Jaroslav Šilhavy, Štefan Tarkovič, Joachim Löw, Markku Kanerva). Svi ostali, prije sadašnjeg statusa, vodili su isključivo klubove.

Uvjerljivo najdugovječniji izbornik na aktualnom Euru je Nijemac Joachim Löw (on se međutim nakon završnog turnira povlači, a novi je voditelj ''elfa'' Hansi Flick). Löw njemačku reprezentaciju vodi od 2006.

Okončan je prvi krug natjecanja na aktualnom Europskom prvenstvu u nogometu. Sve su se reprezentacije predstavile. Kao i pripadajući stručni stožeri. Većina sudionika Eura prikazala je visoku razinu taktičke rafiniranosti. A pritom se kao zanimljivost može uočiti jedan detalj: svega je pet nacionalnih momčadi (od 24) kojima na izborničkoj klupi sjede – stranci. To su Španjolac Roberto Martinez (Belgija), Talijan Marco Rossi (Mađarska), Nijemac Franco Foda (Austrija) Portugalac Paulo Sousa (Poljska) i bosanski Hrvat Vladimir Petković (Švicarska).

Kada je 2016. Roberto Martinez imenovan belgijskim izbornikom mnogi su komentatori zlurado zaključili: opet se Flamanci i Valonci nisu uspjeli usuglasiti tko će im voditi nogometnu reprezentaciju. Animozitet dviju belgijskih pokrajina često se u prošlosti reflektirao i na nogometni sport. Dominantni Flamanci redovito su gurali svoje stručnjake. Jedan od rijetkih Valonaca izbornika Robert Waseige (vodio je belgijsku reprezentaciju u kvalifikacijama za Svjetsko prvenstvo 2002.) na press-konferencijama je odgovarao na oba jezika – flamanskom i francuskom, a hrvatskim je novinarima iskreno priznao: u Belgiji se kao Belgijac deklarira jedino kralj! Stoga je izbornik-stranac za belgijsku reprezentaciju možda i najsretnije rješenje. Poglavito što Martinez ima i rezultate. Već tri godine Belgija je prva reprezentacija svijeta (po FIFA-inom bodovanju).

Ponudu Mađarskog nogometnog saveza da preuzme nacionalnu momčad Marco Rossi dobio je kao trener Dunajske Strede (nekoć je ondje kao sportski direktor radio Aljoša Asanović). Spomenuti je slovački prvoligaš de facto klub mađarske manjine. Rossi je međutim već imao iskustvo rada u nekim mađarskim klubovima, ali nikada nije obnašao funkciju izbornika. Ta činjenica sasvim izravno sugerira zaključak koliko Mađari ne vjeruju vlastitim trenerima. U posljednjih pet godina Rossi je već treći stranac u svlačionici mađarske momčadi (prije njega ondje su bili Nijemac Bernd Storch i Belgijac Georges Leekens).

U stogodišnjoj povijesti poljskog nogometa Portugalac Paulo Sousa tek je četvrti izbornik- stranac. On je i izbornik s najkraćim stažom. Imenovan je 21. siječnja 2021. Tri dana ranije smijenjen je domaći čovjek – Jerzy Józef Brzęczek. Na Portugalcu je inzistirao osobno predsjednik saveza, Zbigniew Boniek.

Posljednji stranac koji je vodio poljsku reprezentaciju prije Souse bio je Leo Beenhakker, na Euru 2008. Vremešni Nizozemac pozornost je privukao ponajprije jednom izjavom. Uoči utakmice s Hrvatskom kazao je na službenoj press-konferenciji:

- Imamo dobre šanse ako moj prijatelj Slaven Bilić u špicu hrvatskog napada stavi svoju punicu!

Kroz povijest austrijske reprezentacije kao izbornici-stranci spominju se treneri Mađari, Česi, Slovenci, Hrvati (Otto Barić)... Sve su to međutim nacionalnosti koje su participirale u negdašnjem Austro-ugarskom carstvu (konačno, Austrijski je nogometni savez i osnovan 1904.). Prvi izbornik-stranac izvan granica negdašnje monarhije bio je Švicarac Marcel Koller. Njega je pak koncem 2017. naslijedio Nijemac (talijanskih korijena) Franco Foda.

Prethodno je Foda trenirao samo jedan austrijski klub (Sturm). No, razuvjerio je sve skeptike. Od 36 utakmica koliko je austrijski mannschaft odigrao pod vodstvom Fode, ostvario je 21 pobjedu (pet remija i deset poraza), uz učinkovitost od 58%. Spomenuti podatak Fodu predstavlja kao najuspješnijeg austrijskog izbornika u povijesti (u konkurenciji izbornika s više od pet utakmica).

Od 29 izbornika u povijesti švicarske reprezentacije, njih 16 bili su stranci. Među njima i Ćiro Blažević (vodio je dvije utakmice 1976.). I današnji je švicarski izbornik bosanski Hrvat – Vladimir Petković. On je i drugi najdugovječniji izbornik (nakon Nijemca Löwa) na aktualnom Euru. Švicarsku je reprezentaciju preuzeo u srpnju 2014.

U švicarskom nogometu godinama se već provlači fama kako je to ionako sport kojim se bave djeca ausländera (ponajprije Balkanci i Afrikanci). Sudeći po prezimenima, koja reprezentiraju Švicarsku, spomenuta teza i nije daleko od istine.

Najdugovječniji Loew

Za veliku većinu trenera na aktualnom Euru trenutačni je angažman prvo izborničko iskušenje. Samo su dvojica već radila kao izbornici. Portugalac Fernando Santos vodio je reprezentaciju Grčke (2010-2014.), a Senol Günes (sa 69 godina on je i najstariji izbornik na Euru) već je vodio reprezentaciju Turske (2000-2004.) te ostvario najveći uspjeh u povijesti (treće mjesto na Svjetskom prvenstvu 2002.).

Neki izbornici imaju iskustvo vođenja mlađih selekcija (Gareth Southgate s Engleskom U21, Robert Page – Wales U21, Markku Kanerva – Finska U21, te Paulo Sousa – Portugal U16). Neki su izvjesno vrijeme radili i kao asistenti (Jaroslav Šilhavy, Štefan Tarkovič, Joachim Löw, Markku Kanerva). Svi ostali, prije sadašnjeg statusa, vodili su isključivo klubove.

Uvjerljivo najdugovječniji izbornik na aktualnom Euru je Nijemac Joachim Löw (on se međutim nakon završnog turnira povlači, a novi je voditelj ''elfa'' Hansi Flick). Löw njemačku reprezentaciju vodi od 2006.

Okončan je prvi krug natjecanja na aktualnom Europskom prvenstvu u nogometu. Sve su se reprezentacije predstavile. Kao i pripadajući stručni stožeri. Većina sudionika Eura prikazala je visoku razinu taktičke rafiniranosti. A pritom se kao zanimljivost može uočiti jedan detalj: svega je pet nacionalnih momčadi (od 24) kojima na izborničkoj klupi sjede – stranci. To su Španjolac Roberto Martinez (Belgija), Talijan Marco Rossi (Mađarska), Nijemac Franco Foda (Austrija) Portugalac Paulo Sousa (Poljska) i bosanski Hrvat Vladimir Petković (Švicarska).
