Nakon 12 godina provedenih na funkciji predsjednika Međunarodne automobilističke federacije (FIA) Jeana Todta je naslijedio bivši vozač relija iz Ujedinjenih Arapskih Emirata Mohammed Ben Sulayem.

Ben Sulayem je tako postao prvi neeuropski predsjednik krovne automobilističke federacije.

Šezdesetogodišnji bivši relijaš je dobio 61.62 posto glasova, dok je njegov jedini protukandidat u utrci za predsjednika, Britanac Graham Stoker dobio 36.62 posto, uz 1.76% suzdržanih.

- Počašćen sam što sam izabran za predsjednika FIA-e na kraju godišnje generalne skupštine u Parizu - rekao je Ben Sulayem za FIA-u.

- Zahvaljujem svim članicama na uvažavanju i povjerenju. Čestitam Grahamu na njegovoj kampanji i angažmanu u Savezu, ali želim i izraziti svoju beskrajnu zahvalnost u ime FIA-e i njenih članova Jeanu Todtu za sve što je postignuto u proteklih 12 godina.

Ben Sulayem je bio i FIA-inom odboru između 2008. i 2013., dopredsjednik FIA-eizmeđu 2008. i 2012. godine, a 2013. godine je predao kandidaturu za predsjednika. Međutim, potom ju je povukao i pod Todtovim vodstvom preuzeo dopredsjedničku funkciju u Odjelu za mobilnost i turizam.

Bio je i 14 puta prvak srednje Azije u reliju, a sudjelovao je i na Svjetskom prvenstvu. Skupio je 18 nastupa i 12 bodova. Prvi put se natjecao na reliju Acropolis 1988. godine, a  posljednji put na reliju Novog Zelanda 1995. godine.

Jean Todt je vodio FIA-u od listopadu 2009. kada je naslijedio Britanca Maxa Mosleyja.

Nakon 12 godina provedenih na funkciji predsjednika Međunarodne automobilističke federacije (FIA) Jeana Todta je naslijedio bivši vozač relija iz Ujedinjenih Arapskih Emirata Mohammed Ben Sulayem.

Ben Sulayem je tako postao prvi neeuropski predsjednik krovne automobilističke federacije.

Šezdesetogodišnji bivši relijaš je dobio 61.62 posto glasova, dok je njegov jedini protukandidat u utrci za predsjednika, Britanac Graham Stoker dobio 36.62 posto, uz 1.76% suzdržanih.

- Počašćen sam što sam izabran za predsjednika FIA-e na kraju godišnje generalne skupštine u Parizu - rekao je Ben Sulayem za FIA-u.

- Zahvaljujem svim članicama na uvažavanju i povjerenju. Čestitam Grahamu na njegovoj kampanji i angažmanu u Savezu, ali želim i izraziti svoju beskrajnu zahvalnost u ime FIA-e i njenih članova Jeanu Todtu za sve što je postignuto u proteklih 12 godina.

Ben Sulayem je bio i FIA-inom odboru između 2008. i 2013., dopredsjednik FIA-eizmeđu 2008. i 2012. godine, a 2013. godine je predao kandidaturu za predsjednika. Međutim, potom ju je povukao i pod Todtovim vodstvom preuzeo dopredsjedničku funkciju u Odjelu za mobilnost i turizam.

Bio je i 14 puta prvak srednje Azije u reliju, a sudjelovao je i na Svjetskom prvenstvu. Skupio je 18 nastupa i 12 bodova. Prvi put se natjecao na reliju Acropolis 1988. godine, a  posljednji put na reliju Novog Zelanda 1995. godine.

Jean Todt je vodio FIA-u od listopadu 2009. kada je naslijedio Britanca Maxa Mosleyja.

- Jedno poglavlje je privedeno kraju. Možemo biti zajednički zadovoljni našim postignućima u motosportu i sigurnoj i održivoj mobilnosti u proteklih 12 godina - poručio je 75-godišnji Francuz.

Mohamed Ben Sulayem naslijedio Jeana Todta koji se nakon 12 godina povlači s funkcije predsjednik FIA-e

Nakon 12 godina provedenih na funkciji predsjednika Međunarodne automobilističke federacije (FIA) Jeana Todta je naslijedio bivši vozač relija iz Ujedinjenih Arapskih Emirata Mohammed Ben Sulayem.

Ben Sulayem je tako postao prvi neeuropski predsjednik krovne automobilističke federacije.

Šezdesetogodišnji bivši relijaš je dobio 61.62 posto glasova, dok je njegov jedini protukandidat u utrci za predsjednika, Britanac Graham Stoker dobio 36.62 posto, uz 1.76% suzdržanih.

- Počašćen sam što sam izabran za predsjednika FIA-e na kraju godišnje generalne skupštine u Parizu - rekao je Ben Sulayem za FIA-u.

- Zahvaljujem svim članicama na uvažavanju i povjerenju. Čestitam Grahamu na njegovoj kampanji i angažmanu u Savezu, ali želim i izraziti svoju beskrajnu zahvalnost u ime FIA...
