Južnokoreanac Duckhee Lee ušao je u povijest - u ponedjeljak je u Winston Salemu postao prvi gluhi tenisač koji je uspio pobijediti na teniskom ATP turniru.

Južnokorejski 21-godišnji tenisač je slavio u prvom kolu turnira, i to nakon što je meč prekinut na pet sati zbog oluje, protiv Švicarca Henrija Laaksonena sa 7-6 (7/4), 6-1. To je njegova prva pobjeda na Touru.

"Ljudi su me zafrkavali zbog mog hendikepa. Govorili su mu da ne bih trebao igrati. To je stvarno bilo teško, ali moji prijatelji i moja obitelj su mi pomagali. Htio sam pokazati svima što mogu učiniti", izjavio je nakon pobjede Lee.

"Moja je poruka za sve hendikepirane da ne se ne obeshrabruju. Ako si omogućite sredstva, možete sve učiniti", dodao je igrač, inače 212. na ATP ljestvici, koji je uglavnom do sada nastupao na Challenger turnirima.

Zbog hendikepa nije mu bilo lako. Ne može čuti linijske suce niti glavnog suca koji govori rezultat, mora se koristiti gestama kako bi izbjegao konfuziju. Osim toga, ne čuje zvuk loptice. 

Izvan terena također je imao poteškoća i bila mu je potrebna pomoć za razumijevanje pitanja novinara. On ne zna znakovni jezik jer je naučio čitati južnokorejski s usana još dok je bio dijete,a njegov način komunikacije teško je razumljiv čak i Južnokoreancima. U ponedjeljak je njegova zaručnica pomagala južnokorejskom prevoditelju da prenese tenisačeve dojmove nakon ove povijesne pobjede.

"Rekao sam i da ću dati sve od sebe i da ću pokušati ostati koncentriran, ali sam uspio pobijediti", zadovoljan je Lee kojeg u drugom kolu čeka 40. tenisač svijeta Poljak Hubert Hurkacz.

Južnokoreanac Duckhee Lee ušao je u povijest - u ponedjeljak je u Winston Salemu postao prvi gluhi tenisač koji je uspio pobijediti na teniskom ATP turniru.

Južnokorejski 21-godišnji tenisač je slavio u prvom kolu turnira, i to nakon što je meč prekinut na pet sati zbog oluje, protiv Švicarca Henrija Laaksonena sa 7-6 (7/4), 6-1. To je njegova prva pobjeda na Touru.

"Ljudi su me zafrkavali zbog mog hendikepa. Govorili su mu da ne bih trebao igrati. To je stvarno bilo teško, ali moji prijatelji i moja obitelj su mi pomagali. Htio sam pokazati svima što mogu učiniti", izjavio je nakon pobjede Lee.

"Moja je poruka za sve hendikepirane da ne se ne obeshrabruju. Ako si omogućite sredstva, možete sve učiniti", dodao je igrač, inače 212. na ATP ljestvici, koji je uglavnom do sada nastupao na Challenger turnirima.

Zbog hendikepa nije mu bilo lako. Ne može čuti linijske suce niti glavnog suca koji govori rezultat, mora se koristiti gestama kako bi izbjegao konfuziju. Osim toga, ne čuje zvuk loptice. 

Izvan terena također je imao poteškoća i bila mu je potrebna pomoć za razumijevanje pitanja novinara. On ne zna znakovni jezik jer je naučio čitati južnokorejski s usana još dok je bio dijete,a njegov način komunikacije teško je razumljiv čak i Južnokoreancima. U ponedjeljak je njegova zaručnica pomagala južnokorejskom prevoditelju da prenese tenisačeve dojmove nakon ove povijesne pobjede.

"Rekao sam i da ću dati sve od sebe i da ću pokušati ostati koncentriran, ali sam uspio pobijediti", zadovoljan je Lee kojeg u drugom kolu čeka 40. tenisač svijeta Poljak Hubert Hurkacz.
