Nedugo nakon što je smijenjen s mjesta izbornika seniorske muške boksačke reprezentacije, Leonard Pijetraj i sam se oglasio službenim priopćenjem kojeg prenosimo u cijelosti:

Nakon nedavnog istupa i sukoba s direktorom Mavrovićem, Leonard Pijetraj jednoglasnom odlukom smijenjen s mjesta izbornika boksačke reprezentacije

"Izvršni odbor Hrvatskog boksačkog saveza danas me smijenio s mjesta izbornika seniorske muške boksačke reprezentacije. Svjestan sam da u posljednje četiri godine rezultati reprezentacije nisu blistavi, zalomila nam se tek jedna olimpijska bronca, jedno deveto mjesto na OI, jedno europsko zlato, tri europske bronce.

Ovo su samo uspjesi reprezentativaca iz BK Leonardo u seniorskoj konkurenciji, medalje su u mom izborničkom mandatu osvajali i reprezentativci drugih klubova, ali bilo bi neprilično da se njima hvalim. Svjestan sam isto tako da Izvršni odbor Hrvatskog boksačkog saveza, među ostalim vrlinama, cijeni poslušnost, šutljivost i poniznost, a ja sam u tom smislu zakinut.

Uvjeren sam da će Izvršni odbor Hrvatskog boksačkog saveza pronaći stručnjaka koji neće nanositi takvu štetu boksu kakvu sam ja nanosio od 2015. godine, te koji će nastaviti nadasve bogatu seriju olimpijskih medalja u boksu od 1991. godine.

U tome će moj nasljednik imati moju punu podršku, kao što sam i ja imao posljednjih mjeseci. Vrata moje trošne dvorane u Dubravi i dalje su otvorena svim boksačkim zaljubljenicima i boksačima dobre volje. Tamo sam svake večeri, oko ringa i u ringu. I tako već 30 godina.

I nije bilo potrebe sazivati Izvršni odbor, bila je dovoljna jedna riječ i ja bih se maknuo sam.

Podsjetimo, nakon oštrih riječi upućenih direktoru reprezentacije Željku Mavroviću, s kojim se sukobio oko toga tko treba predstavljati Hrvatsku na nadolazećim Olimpijskim igrama, Pijetraj je danas jednoglasnom odlukom smijenjen, a za vršitelja dužnosti imenovan je Dorijan Čalić.

Nedugo nakon što je smijenjen s mjesta izbornika seniorske muške boksačke reprezentacije, Leonard Pijetraj i sam se oglasio službenim priopćenjem kojeg prenosimo u cijelosti:

Nakon nedavnog istupa i sukoba s direktorom Mavrovićem, Leonard Pijetraj jednoglasnom odlukom smijenjen s mjesta izbornika boksačke reprezentacije

"Izvršni odbor Hrvatskog boksačkog saveza danas me smijenio s mjesta izbornika seniorske muške boksačke reprezentacije. Svjestan sam da u posljednje četiri godine rezultati reprezentacije nisu blistavi, zalomila nam se tek jedna olimpijska bronca, jedno deveto mjesto na OI, jedno europsko zlato, tri europske bronce.

Ovo su samo uspjesi reprezentativaca iz BK Leonardo u seniorskoj konkurenciji, medalje su u mom izborničkom mandatu osvajali i reprezentativci drugih klubova, ali bilo bi neprilično da se njima hvalim. Svjestan sam isto tako da Izvršni odbor Hrvatskog boksačkog saveza, među ostalim vrlinama, cijeni poslušnost, šutljivost i poniznost, a ja sam u tom smislu zakinut.

Uvjeren sam da će Izvršni odbor Hrvatskog boksačkog saveza pronaći stručnjaka koji neće nanositi takvu štetu boksu kakvu sam ja nanosio od 2015. godine, te koji će nastaviti nadasve bogatu seriju olimpijskih medalja u boksu od 1991. godine.

U tome će moj nasljednik imati moju punu podršku, kao što sam i ja imao posljednjih mjeseci. Vrata moje trošne dvorane u Dubravi i dalje su otvorena svim boksačkim zaljubljenicima i boksačima dobre volje. Tamo sam svake večeri, oko ringa i u ringu. I tako već 30 godina.

I nije bilo potrebe sazivati Izvršni odbor, bila je dovoljna jedna riječ i ja bih se maknuo sam.

Podsjetimo, nakon oštrih riječi upućenih direktoru reprezentacije Željku Mavroviću, s kojim se sukobio oko toga tko treba predstavljati Hrvatsku na nadolazećim Olimpijskim igrama, Pijetraj je danas jednoglasnom odlukom smijenjen, a za vršitelja dužnosti imenovan je Dorijan Čalić.
