Muška štafeta 4 x 400 m na bizaran je način izgubila pravo nastupa u posljednjoj disciplini nedjeljnog programa na Ekipnom prvenstvu Europe u atletici u poljskom Bydgoszczu, a razlog je pogrešna prijava natjecatelja - umjesto sprintera Rabaha Yousifa bio je prijavljen rezervni bacač kugle Youcef Zatat, koji nije ni doputovao u Poljsku.

Sportski direktor Britanskog atletskog saveza Neil Black izjavio je za BBC da se dogodila "tehnička pogreška".

"To je razočaravajuće, posebno za natjecatelje. Dogodila se pogreška kod nominacije, koju istražujemo", rekao je Black.

Reprezentacija Velike Britanije je tako ostala bez ijednog boda, iako je imala štafetu koja se mogla boriti za prvo mjesto. Istina, ni 12 bodova, koliko je na kraju osvojila pobjednička štafeta Italije, ne bi donijelo promjenu u konačnom plasmanu britanske reprezentacije, koja je sa 302,5 bodova osvojila peto mjesto, a ispred nje su bili novi europski prvak Poljska (345), Njemačka (317,5), Francuska (316,5) i Italija (316).

Black je pohvalio reakciju atletičara koji su trebali trčati u štafeti, a uz neprijavljenog Rabaha Yousifa to su trebali biti Ethan Brown, Lee Thompson i Martyn Rooney.

"Bili su sjajni. Kad smo ih informirali što se dogodilo, dobro su podnijeli udarac."

Bacač kugle Youcef Zatat, koji se iznenada našao u središtu zbivanja, iako nije ni bio u Poljskoj, iskoristio je priliku za šaljive objave na društvenim mrežama. Tako je na twitteru objavio da bi "svakako trčao štafetu" da je bio u Poljskoj.

"Koliko god to meni bilo zabavno, suosjećam s dečkima koji su otputovali tamo, a na kraju nisu trčali", zaključio je Zatat.

Britanska reprezentacija bit će među osam reprezentacija koje će se 2021. godine natjecati u Superligi, najvišem razredu Ekipnog prvenstva Europe.

Muška štafeta 4 x 400 m na bizaran je način izgubila pravo nastupa u posljednjoj disciplini nedjeljnog programa na Ekipnom prvenstvu Europe u atletici u poljskom Bydgoszczu, a razlog je pogrešna prijava natjecatelja - umjesto sprintera Rabaha Yousifa bio je prijavljen rezervni bacač kugle Youcef Zatat, koji nije ni doputovao u Poljsku.

Sportski direktor Britanskog atletskog saveza Neil Black izjavio je za BBC da se dogodila "tehnička pogreška".

"To je razočaravajuće, posebno za natjecatelje. Dogodila se pogreška kod nominacije, koju istražujemo", rekao je Black.

Reprezentacija Velike Britanije je tako ostala bez ijednog boda, iako je imala štafetu koja se mogla boriti za prvo mjesto. Istina, ni 12 bodova, koliko je na kraju osvojila pobjednička štafeta Italije, ne bi donijelo promjenu u konačnom plasmanu britanske reprezentacije, koja je sa 302,5 bodova osvojila peto mjesto, a ispred nje su bili novi europski prvak Poljska (345), Njemačka (317,5), Francuska (316,5) i Italija (316).

Black je pohvalio reakciju atletičara koji su trebali trčati u štafeti, a uz neprijavljenog Rabaha Yousifa to su trebali biti Ethan Brown, Lee Thompson i Martyn Rooney.

"Bili su sjajni. Kad smo ih informirali što se dogodilo, dobro su podnijeli udarac."

Bacač kugle Youcef Zatat, koji se iznenada našao u središtu zbivanja, iako nije ni bio u Poljskoj, iskoristio je priliku za šaljive objave na društvenim mrežama. Tako je na twitteru objavio da bi "svakako trčao štafetu" da je bio u Poljskoj.

"Koliko god to meni bilo zabavno, suosjećam s dečkima koji su otputovali tamo, a na kraju nisu trčali", zaključio je Zatat.

Britanska reprezentacija bit će među osam reprezentacija koje će se 2021. godine natjecati u Superligi, najvišem razredu Ekipnog prvenstva Europe.
