Međunarodna veslačka regata Sveti Duje stigla je do svog 19. izdanja koje će se ove godine iznimno održati u rujnu. Glavni događaji na rasporedu su sutra na Rivi s početkom u 11 sati.

Veslački spektakl otvorit će utrka legendi čuvenih britanskih sveučilišta Oxforda i Cambridgea te Splita. Proslavljeni britanski veslači godinama su sudjelovali na jednoj od najpoznatijih utrka na Temzi, vlasnici su brojnih odličja s Olimpijskih igara, a sada stižu u Split na megdan našima koje predstavljaju nekadašnji veslači Gusara.

Konferencija za medije bila je upriličena u prostorijama Galerije Meštrović gdje su se okupili svi najvažniji akteri. Organizator utrke je Veslački savez Dalmacije, a zadovoljstvo obavljenim poslom nije krio njegov predsjednik, proslavljeni splitski veslač i osvajač dvije olimpijske medalje Nikša Skelin.

- Iznimno mi je drago što će se okupiti ekipe iz Sydneya. Svaki put kad sjednemo u čamac, u nama proradi taj sportski rivalitet bez obzira na to što smo odavno u mirovini. Revanširat ćemo se Britancima za onu izgubljenu pobjedu iz 2000. godine.

Repriza olimpijskog finala iz Sydneya neće imati potpuno revijalni karakter. Naši su tada uzeli broncu, dok je Britancima pripalo zlato.

- Bit ćemo u punom sastavu, osim dr. Tomislava Smoljanovića koji je, nažalost, dežuran u bolnici i neće moći biti s nama. Svi su se „nabrusili“ više nego što sam očekivao. Neće to biti baš tako revijalno, frcat će iskre – najavio je Skelin.

Dodatni začin regati bit će i dvoboj Splita i Zagreba, odnosno utrka dvaju sveučilišta.

- Bit će to sjajna promocija Splita i Hrvatske, ali i veslanja kao sporta koji se odlično nadopunjuje s akademskim životom. Nadam se da će regata poslužiti kao poticaj za veslanje studentima i mladima – kazao je Luka Grubor, umirovljeni zagrebački veslač i član britanskog osmerca koji je na Igrama 2000. pobijedio naše.

- Navršila se točno 21 godina od tog finala. Sada će Split i Zagreb odmjeriti snage. Splićani su fizički malo jači, ali ni mi nismo bez šanse. Sjećam se svakog datuma i sata kada sam izgubio od Igora Boraske, tako da natjecateljskog naboja neće nedostajati.

U organizaciji sudjeluje i Sveučilište u Splitu, a okupljenima se obratio i prorektor Tomislav Kilić.

- Već godinama na regati sudjeluju naši studenti, pa tako i naš bivši, legenda ovog sporta Nikša Skelin. Sveučilište njeguje tradiciju uspjeha u sportu i velika nam je čast što se regata vratila nakon dvije, za sport jako teške, godine.

Uz već čuvenu regatu Svetog Duje, ove godine premijerno je uveden i poslovni aspekt jer je ona odavno premašila samo sportsko natjecanje. Bit će upriličen 'Meet up' u konferencijskoj dvorani Tehnološkog parka na temu 'Sports shaping careers' i 'Lessons from the boat' s naglaskom na poveznicu amaterskog sporta, profesionalnih karijera i poslovnog svijeta. Brojni slavni veslači nakon sportske karijere započeli su one poslovne, stoga su se ovom prilikom u Splitu okupili stručnjaci iz raznih sektora. Govornici na 'Meet up-u' će biti Ben Hunt-Davis (trostruki olimpijac i poduzetnik), Kieran West (olimpijski i svjetski prvak, doktor znanosti na Cambridgeu), Ante Kušurin (olimpijac, investitor u Infobip) i Ante Ramadan (hrvatski reprezentativac, profesor molekularne medicine na Oxfordu).

Međunarodna veslačka regata Sveti Duje stigla je do svog 19. izdanja koje će se ove godine iznimno održati u rujnu. Glavni događaji na rasporedu su sutra na Rivi s početkom u 11 sati.

Veslački spektakl otvorit će utrka legendi čuvenih britanskih sveučilišta Oxforda i Cambridgea te Splita. Proslavljeni britanski veslači godinama su sudjelovali na jednoj od najpoznatijih utrka na Temzi, vlasnici su brojnih odličja s Olimpijskih igara, a sada stižu u Split na megdan našima koje predstavljaju nekadašnji veslači Gusara.

Konferencija za medije bila je upriličena u prostorijama Galerije Meštrović gdje su se okupili svi najvažniji akteri. Organizator utrke je Veslački savez Dalmacije, a zadovoljstvo obavljenim poslom nije krio njegov predsjednik, proslavljeni splitski veslač i osvajač dvije olimpijske medalje Nikša Skelin.

- Iznimno mi je drago što će se okupiti ekipe iz Sydneya. Svaki put kad sjednemo u čamac, u nama proradi taj sportski rivalitet bez obzira na to što smo odavno u mirovini. Revanširat ćemo se Britancima za onu izgubljenu pobjedu iz 2000. godine.

Repriza olimpijskog finala iz Sydneya neće imati potpuno revijalni karakter. Naši su tada uzeli broncu, dok je Britancima pripalo zlato.

- Bit ćemo u punom sastavu, osim dr. Tomislava Smoljanovića koji je, nažalost, dežuran u bolnici i neće moći biti s nama. Svi su se „nabrusili“ više nego što sam očekivao. Neće to biti baš tako revijalno, frcat će iskre – najavio je Skelin.

Dodatni začin regati bit će i dvoboj Splita i Zagreba, odnosno utrka dvaju sveučilišta.

- Bit će to sjajna promocija Splita i Hrvatske, ali i veslanja kao sporta koji se odlično nadopunjuje s akademskim životom. Nadam se da će regata poslužiti kao poticaj za veslanje studentima i mladima – kazao je Luka Grubor, umirovljeni zagrebački veslač i član britanskog osmerca koji je na Igrama 2000. pobijedio naše.

- Navršila se točno 21 godina od tog finala. Sada će Split i Zagreb odmjeriti snage. Splićani su fizički malo jači, ali ni mi nismo bez šanse. Sjećam se svakog datuma i sata kada sam izgubio od Igora Boraske, tako da natjecateljskog naboja neće nedostajati.

U organizaciji sudjeluje i Sveučilište u Splitu, a okupljenima se obratio i prorektor Tomislav Kilić.

- Već godinama na regati sudjeluju naši studenti, pa tako i naš bivši, legenda ovog sporta Nikša Skelin. Sveučilište njeguje tradiciju uspjeha u sportu i velika nam je čast što se regata vratila nakon dvije, za sport jako teške, godine.

Uz već čuvenu regatu Svetog Duje, ove godine premijerno je uveden i poslovni aspekt jer je ona odavno premašila samo sportsko natjecanje. Bit će upriličen 'Meet up' u konferencijskoj dvorani Tehnološkog parka na temu 'Sports shaping careers' i 'Lessons from the boat' s naglaskom na poveznicu amaterskog sporta, profesionalnih karijera i poslovnog svijeta. Brojni slavni veslači nakon sportske karijere započeli su one poslovne, stoga su se ovom prilikom u Splitu okupili stručnjaci iz raznih sektora. Govornici na 'Meet up-u' će biti Ben Hunt-Davis (trostruki olimpijac i poduzetnik), Kieran West (olimpijski i svjetski prvak, doktor znanosti na Cambridgeu), Ante Kušurin (olimpijac, investitor u Infobip) i Ante Ramadan (hrvatski reprezentativac, profesor molekularne medicine na Oxfordu).
