Najbolji biatlonac svijeta Francuz Martin Fourcade u iznimno uzbudljivoj završnici utrka na 15 km s masovnim startom nadmašio je Nijemca Simona Schemppa u foto-finišu i tako osvojio svoje prvo olimpijsko zlato u ovoj disciplini, što mu je drugi trijumf na ZOI u Pjongčangu, a ukupno četvrto najsjajnije odličje na olimpijskim igrama u karijeri.
U borbi za brončano odličje Norvežanin Emil Hegle Svendsen nadmašio je Nijemca Erika Lessera, dok je bivši hrvatski olimpijac Jakov Fak, koji nastupa za Sloveniju, uz jedan promašaj završio na desetom mjestu sa 36.1 sekundom zaostatka za pobjednikom.
Niti jedan od trideset biatlonaca koji su se natjecali u ovoj utrci nije uspio završiti natjecanje bez ijednog promašaja, a Fourcade je do zlata stigao s jednim promašajem na prvom gađanju u ležećem stavu i posljednjim promašenim metkom u stojećem stavu. Schempp je promašio jednu metu, na posljednjem gađanju u stojećem stavu.
U uzbudljivom finišu Fourcade je na spustu u ciljnu ravninu osigurao bolju poziciju za završni sprint, no borbeni 29-godišnji Nijemac je izgubio utrku na 'uklizavanju' u cilj, u kojem ga je 29-godišnji Francuz pobijedio za desetak centimetara, odnosno za pola skijaške cipele.
Tako je Fourcade nakon obranjenog naslova iz Sočija u dohvatnoj utrci, uspio osvojiti zlatnu medalju i na 15 km s masovnim startom, disciplini u kojoj je do sada imao dva srebrna olimpijska odličja. Francuz sada ima šest olimpijskih medalja u kolekciji: četiri zlata i dva srebra. Od pojedinačnih olimpijskih naslova nedostaje mu još samo onaj iz sprinta, u kojem mu je najbolji plasman 6. mjesto iz Sočija.
Jakov Fak je nakon srebra u pojedinačnoj utrci na 20 km imao priliku za novu medalju, ali ga je iz igre izbacio promašaj na trećem gađanju. Da je Mrkopaljac bio bez pogreške, kao u individualnoj utrci, mogao je u nedjelju konkurirati za barem za broncu.
Pobjednik individualne utrke Norvežanin Johannes Thingnes Boe osvojio je tek 16. mjesto u masovnom startu, nakon što je na drugom gađanju u ležećem stavu imao tri promašaja.

Najbolji biatlonac svijeta Francuz Martin Fourcade u iznimno uzbudljivoj završnici utrka na 15 km s masovnim startom nadmašio je Nijemca Simona Schemppa u foto-finišu i tako osvojio svoje prvo olimpijsko zlato u ovoj disciplini, što mu je drugi trijumf na ZOI u Pjongčangu, a ukupno četvrto najsjajnije odličje na olimpijskim igrama u karijeri.
U borbi za brončano odličje Norvežanin Emil Hegle Svendsen nadmašio je Nijemca Erika Lessera, dok je bivši hrvatski olimpijac Jakov Fak, koji nastupa za Sloveniju, uz jedan promašaj završio na desetom mjestu sa 36.1 sekundom zaostatka za pobjednikom.
Niti jedan od trideset biatlonaca koji su se natjecali u ovoj utrci nije uspio završiti natjecanje bez ijednog promašaja, a Fourcade je do zlata stigao s jednim promašajem na prvom gađanju u ležećem stavu i posljednjim promašenim metkom u stojećem stavu. Schempp je promašio jednu metu, na posljednjem gađanju u stojećem stavu.
U uzbudljivom finišu Fourcade je na spustu u ciljnu ravninu osigurao bolju poziciju za završni sprint, no borbeni 29-godišnji Nijemac je izgubio utrku na 'uklizavanju' u cilj, u kojem ga je 29-godišnji Francuz pobijedio za desetak centimetara, odnosno za pola skijaške cipele.
Tako je Fourcade nakon obranjenog naslova iz Sočija u dohvatnoj utrci, uspio osvojiti zlatnu medalju i na 15 km s masovnim startom, disciplini u kojoj je do sada imao dva srebrna olimpijska odličja. Francuz sada ima šest olimpijskih medalja u kolekciji: četiri zlata i dva srebra. Od pojedinačnih olimpijskih naslova nedostaje mu još samo onaj iz sprinta, u kojem mu je najbolji plasman 6. mjesto iz Sočija.
Jakov Fak je nakon srebra u pojedinačnoj utrci na 20 km imao priliku za novu medalju, ali ga je iz igre izbacio promašaj na trećem gađanju. Da je Mrkopaljac bio bez pogreške, kao u individualnoj utrci, mogao je u nedjelju konkurirati za barem za broncu.
Pobjednik individualne utrke Norvežanin Johannes Thingnes Boe osvojio je tek 16. mjesto u masovnom startu, nakon što je na drugom gađanju u ležećem stavu imao tri promašaja.
