Branitelj naslova Kenijac Robert Cheruiyot (29) i Etiopljanka Dire Tune (22) pobjednici su 112. izdanja bostonskog maratona, jednog od najuglednijih u svijetu.

Bila je to četvrta pobjeda Cheruiyota u Bostonu u posljednjih šest godina, te prva za mladu Etiopljanku koja je do pobjede došla s najmanjom razlikom u povijesti ovog maratona.

Cheruiyot je tako postao prvi Kenijac koji je na ulicama Bostona slavio četiri puta. Pobijedio je i 2003, 2006 i 2007 godine. Kenijac je kontrolirao utrku od samog početka do kraja i na koncu je slavio s rezultatom 2 sata, sedam minuta i 46 sekundi. Drugo mjesto osvojio je Marokanac Abderrahime Bouramdane (2:09:04), a treći je bio njegov sunarodnjak Khalid El Boumlili (2:10:35).

"Obožavam trčati u ovom gradu. Staza je ove godine bila iznimno teška i zbog toga sam posebno sretan što sam pobijedio," kazao je Cheruiyot koji će za pobjedu dobiti 150.000 dolara nagrade.

U ženskoj konkurenciji bilo je daleko neizvjesnije. Tune je na koncu slavila ispred Ruskinje Alevtina Biktimirove sa dvije sekunde prednosti što je najmanja razlika u povijesti ovog maratona.

"Bila je ovo iznimno dramatična utrka, sretna sam što sam izdržala do kraja" kazala je Etiopljanka, dok je Ruskinja, naravno bila razočarana.

"Sve sam pokušala, no nije išlo. U završnici više nisam imala dovoljno snage," kazala je Biktimirova. Treće mjesto osvojila je Kenijka Rita Jeptoo.

Branitelj naslova Kenijac Robert Cheruiyot (29) i Etiopljanka Dire Tune (22) pobjednici su 112. izdanja bostonskog maratona, jednog od najuglednijih u svijetu.

Bila je to četvrta pobjeda Cheruiyota u Bostonu u posljednjih šest godina, te prva za mladu Etiopljanku koja je do pobjede došla s najmanjom razlikom u povijesti ovog maratona.

Cheruiyot je tako postao prvi Kenijac koji je na ulicama Bostona slavio četiri puta. Pobijedio je i 2003, 2006 i 2007 godine. Kenijac je kontrolirao utrku od samog početka do kraja i na koncu je slavio s rezultatom 2 sata, sedam minuta i 46 sekundi. Drugo mjesto osvojio je Marokanac Abderrahime Bouramdane (2:09:04), a treći je bio njegov sunarodnjak Khalid El Boumlili (2:10:35).

"Obožavam trčati u ovom gradu. Staza je ove godine bila iznimno teška i zbog toga sam posebno sretan što sam pobijedio," kazao je Cheruiyot koji će za pobjedu dobiti 150.000 dolara nagrade.

U ženskoj konkurenciji bilo je daleko neizvjesnije. Tune je na koncu slavila ispred Ruskinje Alevtina Biktimirove sa dvije sekunde prednosti što je najmanja razlika u povijesti ovog maratona.

"Bila je ovo iznimno dramatična utrka, sretna sam što sam izdržala do kraja" kazala je Etiopljanka, dok je Ruskinja, naravno bila razočarana.

"Sve sam pokušala, no nije išlo. U završnici više nisam imala dovoljno snage," kazala je Biktimirova. Treće mjesto osvojila je Kenijka Rita Jeptoo.
