Kukoč je najbolji košarkaš ikada na ovim prostorima, ne samo u Hrvatskoj. U ono vrijeme bio je najbolji igrač kontinenta i europski igrač koji je ostavio najveći trag u NBA ligi. Imao je jako važnu ulogu u najboljoj momčadi svijeta. Do tada to nitko nije napravio.

I s Benettonom je osvojio prvenstvo Italije, kup, igrao je finale Eurolige. On je zračio nečim, gdje god je došao taj klub je bio nešto posebno. Uostalom, samo veliki igrači mogli su doći u onaj Chicago te pokraj tada najboljih igrača svijeta Jordana i Pippena igrati bitnu ulogu.

Prvi put sam ga vidio na nekom treningu kadeta ili juniora. Izgledao je štrkljav, mršav. Oduvijek je bio ekstremni talent, vidjelo se to na prvi pogled, samo je bilo pitanje hoće li to fizički moći pratiti. Kad bi uhvatio loptu vidio si da ima nešto posebno. Da će zaista postati ekstra zvijezda vidjelo se na juniorskom SP-u u Bormiju 1987., tada je Amerikancima zabio 11 trica iz 12 pokušaja. 

Ako se za nekog kaže da je Splićo, to je Toni. Goran Ivanišević i on su za mene baš dva prototipa Splićanina, grintavi su, fjakasti, uvijek imaju neki “pusti me stat” govor. Baš zato je baš svima bio drag i simpatičan. Mogao si se naljutiti na njega, ali sve je to bilo kratkog daha jer bi te brzo razoružao. U njemu nikada nije bilo zlobe.

Sjećam se jedne utakmice s Cibonom. U jednom momentu je došao i rekao: “Znaš šta mi je napravija onaj Ušić? Skinija mi je gaće!”. Ostao je šokiran. Napravio mu je to dok je lopta bila na drugoj strani. Iskreno se čudio da to netko može napraviti. Ali Kukoč bi tim dječačkim izrazom lica razoružao sve te koji su protiv njega pokušavali igrati nesportski. Europski klubovi su pogotovo pokušavali igrati prljavo, ali im je bio neuhvatljiv, toliko dominantan da mu nisu mogli ništa.

Mogao je igrati sve pozicije, od playmakera do centra, imao je izrazitu igračku inteligenciju. Kukoč je imao ogroman utjecaj na igru Jugoplastike. Bio je spona između svih linija. Rađa i on su bila dvojica dominantnih igrača u Europi. Svi mi ostali smo na neki način u očima ljudi izgledali manji zbog te dvije megazvijezde, a imali smo puno igrača koji su poslije napravili velike karijere poput Savića, Tabaka... Naša dominacija je počela od trenutka kada su njih dvojica i fizički sazreli. Pred zadnju sezonu u Splitu, treću titulu prvaka Europe, postao je toliko i fizički dominantan da je sve ono što je imao u sebi još više došlo do izražaja. Tada je praktički postao nezaustavljiv.

Kukoč je najbolji košarkaš ikada na ovim prostorima, ne samo u Hrvatskoj. U ono vrijeme bio je najbolji igrač kontinenta i europski igrač koji je ostavio najveći trag u NBA ligi. Imao je jako važnu ulogu u najboljoj momčadi svijeta. Do tada to nitko nije napravio.

I s Benettonom je osvojio prvenstvo Italije, kup, igrao je finale Eurolige. On je zračio nečim, gdje god je došao taj klub je bio nešto posebno. Uostalom, samo veliki igrači mogli su doći u onaj Chicago te pokraj tada najboljih igrača svijeta Jordana i Pippena igrati bitnu ulogu.

Prvi put sam ga vidio na nekom treningu kadeta ili juniora. Izgledao je štrkljav, mršav. Oduvijek je bio ekstremni talent, vidjelo se to na prvi pogled, samo je bilo pitanje hoće li to fizički moći pratiti. Kad bi uhvatio loptu vidio si da ima nešto posebno. Da će zaista postati ekstra zvijezda vidjelo se na juniorskom SP-u u Bormiju 1987., tada je Amerikancima zabio 11 trica iz 12 pokušaja. 

Ako se za nekog kaže da je Splićo, to je Toni. Goran Ivanišević i on su za mene baš dva prototipa Splićanina, grintavi su, fjakasti, uvijek imaju neki “pusti me stat” govor. Baš zato je baš svima bio drag i simpatičan. Mogao si se naljutiti na njega, ali sve je to bilo kratkog daha jer bi te brzo razoružao. U njemu nikada nije bilo zlobe.

Sjećam se jedne utakmice s Cibonom. U jednom momentu je došao i rekao: “Znaš šta mi je napravija onaj Ušić? Skinija mi je gaće!”. Ostao je šokiran. Napravio mu je to dok je lopta bila na drugoj strani. Iskreno se čudio da to netko može napraviti. Ali Kukoč bi tim dječačkim izrazom lica razoružao sve te koji su protiv njega pokušavali igrati nesportski. Europski klubovi su pogotovo pokušavali igrati prljavo, ali im je bio neuhvatljiv, toliko dominantan da mu nisu mogli ništa.

Mogao je igrati sve pozicije, od playmakera do centra, imao je izrazitu igračku inteligenciju. Kukoč je imao ogroman utjecaj na igru Jugoplastike. Bio je spona između svih linija. Rađa i on su bila dvojica dominantnih igrača u Europi. Svi mi ostali smo na neki način u očima ljudi izgledali manji zbog te dvije megazvijezde, a imali smo puno igrača koji su poslije napravili velike karijere poput Savića, Tabaka... Naša dominacija je počela od trenutka kada su njih dvojica i fizički sazreli. Pred zadnju sezonu u Splitu, treću titulu prvaka Europe, postao je toliko i fizički dominantan da je sve ono što je imao u sebi još više došlo do izražaja. Tada je praktički postao nezaustavljiv.

Kukoč je najbolji košarkaš ikada na ovim prostorima, ne samo u Hrvatskoj. U ono vrijeme bio je najbolji igrač kontinenta i europski igrač koji je ostavio najveći trag u NBA ligi. Imao je jako važnu ulogu u najboljoj momčadi svijeta. Do tada to nitko nije napravio.

I s Benettonom je osvojio prvenstvo Italije, kup, igrao je finale Eurolige. On je zračio nečim, gdje god je došao taj klub je bio nešto posebno. Uostalom, samo veliki igrači mogli su doći u onaj Chicago te pokraj tada najboljih igrača svijeta Jordana i Pippena igrati bitnu ulogu.

Prvi put sam ga vidio na nekom treningu kadeta ili juniora. Izgledao je štrkljav, mršav. Oduvijek je bio ekstremni talent, vidjelo se to na prvi pogled, samo je bilo pitanje hoće li to fizički moći pratiti. Kad bi uhvatio loptu vidio si d...
