Član NBA Kuće slavnih, kontroverzni Dennis Rodman neočekivano je najavio da ide u Rusiju kako bi se povezao sa "slučajem Brittney Griner ", američke košarkašice koja je u Rusiji osuđena na devet godina zbog šverca droge. Inače, već nekoliko tjedana traju pregovori o mogućoj razmjeni olimpijske pobjednice za ruskog biznismena Viktora Bouta. Ali još nema rezultata, što izaziva razočaranje u američkoj sportskoj javnosti.

Uključivanje Rodmana odličan je način da se poveća interes javnosti za cijelu situaciju i da se američke vlasti pokažu aktivnima. No, to je potpuno u suprotnosti s pozivima ruske strane na "tihu diplomaciju" o vrlo osjetljivoj temi, pišu Sportske novosti.

"Dobio sam vizu za Rusiju kako bih pomogao ovoj djevojci", rekao je Rodman za NBC News. "Pokušat ću odletjeti u Moskvu."

Naravno, pregovori u bilo kojem formatu s američkom stranom u trenutnoj su situaciji u najmanju ruku zanimljivi. Drugo je pitanje koga predstavlja 61-godišnji NBA veteran i ima li sada ikakvog smisla "diplomacija za mase"? Da, Dennis je imao slično iskustvo prije nekog vremena. Vjeruje se da je njegova komunikacija sa sjevernokorejskim vođom Kim Jongom doprinijela oslobađanju 2014. američkog državljanina i misionara Kennetha Baya, koji je u Sjevernoj Koreji bio osuđen na 15 godina zatvora. No tamo je situacija bila potpuno drugačija, a šanse da će Greiner sada biti puštena "iz humanitarnih razloga", bez tražene razmjene su iznimno male.

Identitet novog "pregovarača" otvara velika pitanja. Malo je vjerojatno da osoba s takvim ugledom može računati na službenu komunikaciju s visokim političarima. Rodman je bez sumnje NBA legenda. Umirovio se 2006. godine, ali je i dalje jedan od najprepoznatljivijih svjetskih košarkaša.

U jesen 2014. Rodman je već bio u Rusiji i tada je o tom posjetu puno govorio u američkim medijima. Konkretno, uvjeravao je sve da se u nekom restoranu susreo s Vladimirom Putinom, kojeg je nazvao "cool tipom". Nema službene potvrde ovog događaja, osim priče samog Dennisa. U stvarnosti je NBA zvijezdu u Moskvu pozvala Zaklada Federacije, koja je u jednom od noćnih klubova organizirala dobrotvornu aukciju majica s autogramom košarkaša. Prodavali su ih posjetiteljima kluba za velike svote.

Dennisova sjećanja na putovanje u Moskvu su sljedeća: "Kad smo se vozili po moskovskim klubovima, u mojoj je pratnji bilo desetak Bentleya. U jednom od objekata čekalo nas je oko 30 prokleto zgodnih ruskih djevojaka - možda najljepših na svijetu. Dobro smo se zabavili, a potom smo sudjelovali u humanitarnoj akciji za djecu. Općenito, otišao sam u Rusiju predstavljati Ameriku na polju košarke."

Ono što se službeno zna iz tog posjeta Rusiji je da Dennis nije uspio održati planirani seminar uz sudjelovanje studenata. Košarkaška zvijezda iz nekog je razloga stigla u krivo vrijeme, puno kasnije od dogovorenog.

A sada Rodman, koji je politički poznat kao pristaša i prijatelj bivšeg američkog predsjednika Donalda Trumpa, odlazi u Moskvu kako bi "spasio Brittney". Međutim, formalni pregovori s osobom bez ovlasti i bez mogućnosti ispunjavanja bilo kakvih dogovora u Rusiji nemaju smisla. A Rodman do njih teško može doći, praktički nema šanse, podvlače ruski mediji.

Inače, poznato je da s Bidenove strane pregovore o osuđenoj košarkašici vodi bivši guverner Novog Meksika i bivši američki veleposlanik u Ujedinjenim narodima Bill Richardson. On je u svojim javnim izjavama već priznao mogućnost razmjene zarobljenika ne samo u formatu "2 na 1" (Greiner i još jedan Amerikanac Paul Whelan za Viktora Bouta), već i "2 na 2" (kao što Rusija traži). Istovremeno, još se uvijek pregovara o tome tko bi bio drugi Rus u toj razmjeni. Rusi misle da im u takvoj situaciji publicitet ne treba.

No, tko to može objasniti Rodmanu...

Identitet novog "pregovarača" otvara velika pitanja. Malo je vjerojatno da osoba s takvim ugledom može računati na službenu komunikaciju s visokim političarima. Rodman je bez sumnje NBA legenda. Umirovio se 2006. godine, ali je i dalje jedan od najprepoznatljivijih svjetskih košarkaša.

U jesen 2014. Rodman je već bio u Rusiji i tada je o tom posjetu puno govorio u američkim medijima. Konkretno, uvjeravao je sve da se u nekom restoranu susreo s Vladimirom Putinom, kojeg je nazvao "cool tipom". Nema službene potvrde ovog događaja, osim priče samog Dennisa. U stvarnosti je NBA zvijezdu u Moskvu pozvala Zaklada Federacije, koja je u jednom od noćnih klubova organizirala dobrotvornu aukciju majica s autogramom košarkaša. Prodavali su ih posjetiteljima kluba za velike svote.

Dennisova sjećanja na putovanje u Moskvu su sljedeća: "Kad smo se vozili po moskovskim klubovima, u mojoj je pratnji bilo desetak Bentleya. U jednom od objekata čekalo nas je oko 30 prokleto zgodnih ruskih djevojaka - možda najljepših na svijetu. Dobro smo se zabavili, a potom smo sudjelovali u humanitarnoj akciji za djecu. Općenito, otišao sam u Rusiju predstavljati Ameriku na polju košarke."

Ono što se službeno zna iz tog posjeta Rusiji je da Dennis nije uspio održati planirani seminar uz sudjelovanje studenata. Košarkaška zvijezda iz nekog je razloga stigla u krivo vrijeme, puno kasnije od dogovorenog.

A sada Rodman, koji je politički poznat kao pristaša i prijatelj bivšeg američkog predsjednika Donalda Trumpa, odlazi u Moskvu kako bi "spasio Brittney". Međutim, formalni pregovori s osobom bez ovlasti i bez mogućnosti ispunjavanja bilo kakvih dogovora u Rusiji nemaju smisla. A Rodman do njih teško može doći, praktički nema šanse, podvlače ruski mediji.

Inače, poznato je da s Bidenove strane pregovore o osuđenoj košarkašici vodi bivši guverner Novog Meksika i bivši američki veleposlanik u Ujedinjenim narodima Bill Richardson. On je u svojim javnim izjavama već priznao mogućnost razmjene zarobljenika ne samo u formatu "2 na 1" (Greiner i još jedan Amerikanac Paul Whelan za Viktora Bouta), već i "2 na 2" (kao što Rusija traži). Istovremeno, još se uvijek pregovara o tome tko bi bio drugi Rus u toj razmjeni. Rusi misle da im u takvoj situaciji publicitet ne treba.

No, tko to može objasniti Rodmanu...

Član NBA Kuće slavnih, kontroverzni Dennis Rodman neočekivano je najavio da ide u Rusiju kako bi se povezao sa "slučajem Brittney Griner ", američke košarkašice koja je u Rusiji osuđena na devet godina zbog šverca droge. Inače, već nekoliko tjedana traju pregovori o mogućoj razmjeni olimpijske pobjednice za ruskog biznismena Viktora Bouta. Ali još nema rezultata, što izaziva razočaranje u američkoj sportskoj javnosti.

Uključivanje Rodmana odličan je način da se poveća interes javnosti za cijelu situaciju i da se američke vlasti pokažu aktivnima. No, to je potpuno u suprotnosti s pozivima ruske strane na "tihu diplomaciju" o vrlo osjetljivoj temi, pišu Sportske novosti.
