Vijest je stigla nenadano, kao i sve zle vijesti što stižu, šokantno, nosila je tugu sa sobom, crnilo... Baš kao i nebo što se taj čas natmurilo nad Splitom, prosula se kiša suza...
Sve nas je manje, s gropom u grlu javio nam se Dražen Mužinić Frfa...
Otišao nam je, umro je Željko Mijač, za prijatelje Cico, svi smo ga tako zvali i naprosto ne vjerujemo svojom očima dok nam prsti lete po tipkovnici i sriču vijest o iznenadnoj smrti još jednog velikog hajdukovca, ali nadasve dobrog čovjeka, te istinskog nogometnog znalca.
Bio je darovit kao nogometaš i imao pegulu da ispred sebe ima Juricu Jerkovića u momčadi; bio je iznimno darovit kao trener, ali spletom okolnosti mnogima je u Hajduku bio vjeran pomoćnik a šansu da preuzme kormilo prve momčadi Hajduka nije dobio.
Vodio je Hajduk jednom, u prijateljskom susretu u Tomislavgradu, kad se nakon odlaska Josipa Skoblara čekalo da sa Cipra dođe i palicu preuzme Stanko Poklepović. Nakon što je ranije bio pomoćnik i Luki Peruzoviću koji ga je prvi uzeo uz sebe iz omladinskog pogona, nastavio je biti „drugi” i Špaci kao ranije Skoblaru, Peruzoviću...
Kasnije, šansu da bude trener Hajduka nije dobio, njegovo kolo sreće u Poljudu odvrtilo je „zgubired”, ali se kasnije u inozemstvu etablirao uz Peruzovića, te Ivića, ali ujedno i u Iranu, uz slavnog Ali Daeija koji nije mogao zamisliti da vodi bilo koju momčad, a da mu uz rame Mijač ne pomaže i suflira.
Na stranu karijera, gdje je bio i što je sve radio i kako je to redovito u najvećim utakmicama Hajduka golove davao (protiv St. Etiennea i PSV Eindhovena na Starom placu), ostaje nam golema tuga i praznina...
Posebno nam je teško pisati ove olovno tužne retke, jer osim dugog sportskog poznanstva što seže dubokih 40 godina u prošlost, svezalo nas je i istinsko privatno prijateljstvo.
Ostaje prazan sad onaj „prozorčić” u kafiću kod Vlatka Đolonge, na Pjaci, gdje je običavao sjesti i popiti kavu i o balunu, o Hajduku ćakulati. Žureći na ručak obitelji do koje je silno držao ili na trening potom u Bašku Vodu gdje je donedavno imao svoj, eto, posljednji angažman; želeći svojom energijom pomoći i malima. Urania ga je trebala i njen Mate Jozipović...
Sigurno će „kod Đole” upaliti svijeću na mjestu gdje bi Mijač sjedio, jedan od posljednjih romantika baluna, iz zlatne generacije Hajduka. Trener za kojega je Stanko Poklepović uvijek tvrdio da predstavlja izdanak loze barba Luke Kaliterne pa bi nabrajao, Mladinić, Ivić, moja malenkost, to ka' Špaco i onda Peruzović i Cico... U Hajduku taj redoslijed, rekao bi Špaco, nisu ispoštovali...
Zato su Mijača u inozemstvu posebno cijenili i zasuti smo porukama: kako, što se to dogodilo, do jučer je takoreći bio svjež i čio, šta ima da smo ga vidili...
Smrt ne bira, zapravo... bira najbolje.

Željko Mijač
Željko Mijač, umro je nakon kratke i teške bolesti u 69. godini u Splitu.
Rodio se u Splitu, 13. siječnja 1954. godine, počeo je u Hajduku, u mlađim uzrastima, dio je momčadi sedamdesetih koja je prozvana zlatnom generacijom.
U Rijeci je bio na posudbi, kaljenju 72/73., a nakon tri Ivićeve sezone i za dlaku trostruke duple krune (1973. - 1976.) otišao je u Rijeku.
Za Hajduk je odigrao 146 utakmica, 83 službene i postigao 40 golova.
S Hajdukom prvak Jugoslavije 1974. i 1975., te osvajač Kupa u sezonama 73/74, 74/75 i 75/76.
Kup je osvojio i s Rijekom, dvaput, 1978. i 1979. godine
U Francuskoj je potom igrao za Toulon, Avignon, Istres, pa igrao u Italiji za Castel di Sangro, a u smiraj karijere pomogao je igranjem za Split, te se čak našao i u Kolektivcu iz Postira.
Trenerska karijera je osebujna, neobična, jednom pomoćnik, uvijek pomoćnik, Luki Peruzoviću, Josipu Skoblaru, Stanku Poklepoviću, na klupi Hajduka od 1989. do 1993.
Prvak je druge lige s Uskokom 1995., ali momčad s Klisa nisu pripustili u Prvu ligu.
U stožeru je Tomislava Ivića, izbornika Ujedinjenih Arapskih Emirata, srebro na Azijskom prvenstvu (1996.),
Pomoćnik je Luki Bonačiću, pa Tomislavu Iviću u Hajduku 1997. godine. Potom Iviću u Standardu (Liege), a vodio je i samostalno prvu momčad Standarda, sve do 2001.
Pomoćnik Luki Peruzoviću, s njim je bio u Kataru (Al Sadd) 2002. – 2004., pa na klupi reprezentacije Bahreina, pa u Saudijskoj Arabiji (Al Ahli).
Bio je trener druge momčadi Hajduka (GOŠK iz Kaštel Gomilice).
Pomoćni trener u Persepolisu, pa kasnije Rah-Ahanu (Iran).
Evo nas već u 2015., pomoćni je trener Zadra, Igoru Štimcu. Pa opet u Iran, Ali Daei ga je opet zvao uz sebe.
Posljednja trenerska destinacija bila mu je u Baškoj Vodi, gdje je bio trener Uranije.
Hajduk je napisao: odlaskom Željka Mijača napušta nas još jedan član zlatne generacije, čovjek koji je bio vrlo aktivan i u veteranima kluba, redovit na svim klupskim protokolarnim dešavanjima i redovit na svim utakmicama. Dragi naš Cico, hvala Ti na svemu što si dao svom Hajduku, pozdravi nam u vječnosti Tvoje i naše iz zlatne generacije: Dragana, Juru, Mićuna, kao i ostale hajdukovce koji su nas napustili..

Vijest je stigla nenadano, kao i sve zle vijesti što stižu, šokantno, nosila je tugu sa sobom, crnilo... Baš kao i nebo što se taj čas natmurilo nad Splitom, prosula se kiša suza...
Sve nas je manje, s gropom u grlu javio nam se Dražen Mužinić Frfa...
Otišao nam je, umro je Željko Mijač, za prijatelje Cico, svi smo ga tako zvali i naprosto ne vjerujemo svojom očima dok nam prsti lete po tipkovnici i sriču vijest o iznenadnoj smrti još jednog velikog hajdukovca, ali nadasve dobrog čovjeka, te istinskog nogometnog znalca.
Bio je darovit kao nogometaš i imao pegulu da ispred sebe ima Juricu Jerkovića u momčadi; bio je iznimno darovit kao trener, ali spletom okolnosti mnogima je u Hajduku bio vjeran pomoćnik a šansu da preuzme kormilo prve momčadi Hajduka nije dobio.
Vodio je Hajduk jednom, u prijateljskom susretu u Tomislavgradu, kad se nakon odlaska Josipa Skoblara čekalo da sa Cipra dođe i palicu preuzme Stanko Poklepović. Nakon što je ranije bio pomoćnik i Luki Peruzoviću koji ga je prvi uzeo uz sebe iz omladinskog pogona, nastavio je biti „drugi” i Špaci kao ranije Skoblaru, Peruzoviću...
Kasnije, šansu da bude trener Hajduka nije dobio, njegovo kolo sreće u Poljudu odvrtilo je „zgubired”, ali se kasnije u inozemstvu etablirao uz Peruzovića, te Ivića, ali ujedno i u Iranu, uz slavnog Ali Daeija koji nije mogao zamisliti da vodi bilo koju momčad, a da mu uz rame Mijač ne pomaže i suflira.
Na stranu karijera, gdje je bio i što je sve radio i kako je to redovito u najvećim utakmicama Hajduka golove davao (protiv St. Etiennea i PSV Eindhovena na Starom placu), ostaje nam golema tuga i praznina...
Posebno nam je teško pisati ove olovno tužne retke, jer osim dugog sportskog poznanstva što seže dubokih 40 godina u prošlost, svezalo nas je i istinsko privatno prijateljstvo.
Ostaje prazan sad onaj „prozorčić” u kafiću kod Vlatka Đolonge, na Pjaci, gdje je običavao sjesti i popiti kavu i o balunu, o Hajduku ćakulati. Žureći na ručak obitelji do koje je silno držao ili na trening potom u Bašku Vodu gdje je donedavno imao svoj, eto, posljednji angažman; želeći svojom energijom pomoći i malima. Urania ga je trebala i njen Mate Jozipović...
Sigurno će „kod Đole” upaliti svijeću na mjestu gdje bi Mijač sjedio, jedan od posljednjih romantika baluna, iz zlatne generacije Hajduka. Trener za kojega je Stanko Poklepović uvijek tvrdio da predstavlja izdanak loze barba Luke Kaliterne pa bi nabrajao, Mladinić, Ivić, moja malenkost, to ka' Špaco i onda Peruzović i Cico... U Hajduku taj redoslijed, rekao bi Špaco, nisu ispoštovali...
Zato su Mijača u inozemstvu posebno cijenili i zasuti smo porukama: kako, što se to dogodilo, do jučer je takoreći bio svjež i čio, šta ima da smo ga vidili...
Smrt ne bira, zapravo... bira najbolje.

Željko Mijač
Željko Mijač, umro je nakon kratke i teške bolesti u 69. godini u Splitu.
Rodio se u Splitu, 13. siječnja 1954. godine, počeo je u Hajduku, u mlađim uzrastima, dio je momčadi sedamdesetih koja je prozvana zlatnom generacijom.
U Rijeci je bio na posudbi, kaljenju 72/73., a nakon tri Ivićeve sezone i za dlaku trostruke duple krune (1973. - 1976.) otišao je u Rijeku.
Za Hajduk je odigrao 146 utakmica, 83 službene i postigao 40 golova.
S Hajdukom prvak Jugoslavije 1974. i 1975., te osvajač Kupa u sezonama 73/74, 74/75 i 75/76.
Kup je osvojio i s Rijekom, dvaput, 1978. i 1979. godine
U Francuskoj je potom igrao za Toulon, Avignon, Istres, pa igrao u Italiji za Castel di Sangro, a u smiraj karijere pomogao je igranjem za Split, te se čak našao i u Kolektivcu iz Postira.
Trenerska karijera je osebujna, neobična, jednom pomoćnik, uvijek pomoćnik, Luki Peruzoviću, Josipu Skoblaru, Stanku Poklepoviću, na klupi Hajduka od 1989. do 1993.
Prvak je druge lige s Uskokom 1995., ali momčad s Klisa nisu pripustili u Prvu ligu.
U stožeru je Tomislava Ivića, izbornika Ujedinjenih Arapskih Emirata, srebro na Azijskom prvenstvu (1996.),
Pomoćnik je Luki Bonačiću, pa Tomislavu Iviću u Hajduku 1997. godine. Potom Iviću u Standardu (Liege), a vodio je i samostalno prvu momčad Standarda, sve do 2001.
Pomoćnik Luki Peruzoviću, s njim je bio u Kataru (Al Sadd) 2002. – 2004., pa na klupi reprezentacije Bahreina, pa u Saudijskoj Arabiji (Al Ahli).
Bio je trener druge momčadi Hajduka (GOŠK iz Kaštel Gomilice).
Pomoćni trener u Persepolisu, pa kasnije Rah-Ahanu (Iran).
Evo nas već u 2015., pomoćni je trener Zadra, Igoru Štimcu. Pa opet u Iran, Ali Daei ga je opet zvao uz sebe.
Posljednja trenerska destinacija bila mu je u Baškoj Vodi, gdje je bio trener Uranije.
Hajduk je napisao: odlaskom Željka Mijača napušta nas još jedan član zlatne generacije, čovjek koji je bio vrlo aktivan i u veteranima kluba, redovit na svim klupskim protokolarnim dešavanjima i redovit na svim utakmicama. Dragi naš Cico, hvala Ti na svemu što si dao svom Hajduku, pozdravi nam u vječnosti Tvoje i naše iz zlatne generacije: Dragana, Juru, Mićuna, kao i ostale hajdukovce koji su nas napustili..
