Veliki su rivali Hajduk i Rijeka, odnosno Rijeka i Hajduk, jer veći se poriv nadmetanja rodio u Rijeci spram Hajduka. Nekad se čak s riječke strane pitalo “tko je veći majstor s mora”? Rijeka je šezdesetih privremeno bila bolja.
Na to pitanje ne treba ni davat odgovor, jer Hajduk je ipak Hajduk, kroz svih ovih 111 godina. Majstor s mora je jedan. Baš kao što je i Jadranski derbi samo jedan i u tu kategoriju ne mogu upasti ni Šibenik, ni Zadar...
Međutim, Rijeka se diže u zadnje vrijeme, što jest, jest, pa su čak osvojili i titulu prvaka, a Kup su znali osvajati (dvaput) i u Jugoslaviji, krajem sedamdesetih.
Uzlet Riječana
U posljednje vrijeme Rijeka se etablirala kao visoko pozicionirani klub u nekoj novoj, ajmo je tako nazvat, hrvatskoj velikoj četvorici.
Ono što zapravo želimo reći jest: rivali su - nesmiljeni, veliki konkurenti, gledaju jedan drugom u dvorište, a posebno su navijačke skupine Torcida i Armada ratoborne. Međutim, toliko se stručnog i igračkog kadra prelilo iz Rijeke u Hajduk i u obratnom smjeru da naprosto ne možeš vjerovati da su takvi “neprijatelji”, a toliko zajedničkih likova dijele...
Ne znamo točno kad je počelo, ali je znano da je barba Luka Kaliterna, po kome Hajduk nosi ime svoje Akademije, išao pomoći Rijeci kao trener. Iz toga je doba glasovita anegdota kad je kondicijski trener Rijeke vodio zagrijavanje, pa nakon što su se pošteno rastrčali, vratio je momčad Kaliterni da počne nogometni trening. Na što ga je barba Luka ukorio, namrštio obrve i rekao:
- A sad ih vodi doma kad si ih ovako “deštriga” (satra, izneredio, umorio). Ja sad s njima ne mogu ništa. Dođite sutra – duhovit je bio barba Luka.
Sto mu dronova
O tempora, o mores, rekli bi stari Rimljani, kakvih li vremena i običaja u odnosu na danas kad se i dronom nadgleda trening, a uređaji mjere intenzitet vježbanja.
Zanimljivo nam je da je Rijeka često uzimala stručnjake s područja Hajduka i Dalmacije, da spomenemo samo Ljubu Benčića, Jozu Matošića, Vladimira Bearu, Ivana Katalinića, Zorana Vulića, Luku Bonačića, Vjekoslava Lokicu, ali i Zadranina Josipa Skoblara i Mladena Vrankovića (rođen u Rtini), pamtimo i Ivicu Šangulina iz Biograda dok je i sadašnji Goran Tomić, Šibenčanin i zapravo junior Hajduka i mnogi misle da bi on bio to prirodno domaće rješenje za Hajduk samo da se nije vezao za sjever domovine. Zlatko Dalić je bio igrač Hajduka i trener Rijeke. A Ćiro Blažević trener na obje klupe.
Hajduka je pak veselilo uskakati u dvorište tadašnje Kantride, čupao je Nikicu Cukrova, Ivu Jerolimova, Nenada Gračana, pa Igora Musu, sve do braće Ahmada i Anasa Sharbinija ili braće Elvira i Trojana Malokua koji pak, na žalost, nisu ostvarili karijeru kakvu su obećavali. Tu su i Kažo Vulić, Saša Peršon, Mladen Mladenović, Siniša Linić...
(S)tečajna lista
Gdje su ona vremena kad je Hajduk Rijeku doslovce spasio od stečaja kad im je uplatio silnu milijunsku odštetu dovodeći u Poljud braću Sharbini.
Poznat je slučaj kad su se na Kantridi rukovali na centru Tonći Gabrić, kapetan Rijeke i Nenad Gračan, fetivi Fiuman, kapetan (a kasnije i trener) – Hajduka!
Pucale su i kosti
Nećemo o lomovima noga, pegulama što su zadesile u derbijima Gračana, Franka Bogdana, Riječanina Tomljanovića...
U Rijeci su svoju “rijeku snova” poput pjevača Splićanina Nene Belana našli i hajdukovci Filip Bradarić i Franko Andrijašević, sinonimi najjače, šampionske Rijeke. Ranije su kao riječke veličine bili priznati i Željko Mijač, pa Janko Janković i Igor Jelavić. I Tomislav Erceg, golgeter sezone u HNL-u. A u biti su – produkt Hajduka.
- Ja imam super iskustva s jedne i druge iskustva, kad me Hajduk otpisao Rijeka me prihvatila krajem osamdesetih i vratila me u život. Slično je bilo i s mojim sinom Dragom, kad u Poljudu više nisu računali na njega, primila ga je Rijeka. To su moje dvije kuće, Hajduk je prva, a Rijeka druga. Toliko istih faca na obje strane. Rivalstvo je logično, ali volio bih da bude sportski zdravo – poručio je Tonći Gabrić.

Veliki su rivali Hajduk i Rijeka, odnosno Rijeka i Hajduk, jer veći se poriv nadmetanja rodio u Rijeci spram Hajduka. Nekad se čak s riječke strane pitalo “tko je veći majstor s mora”? Rijeka je šezdesetih privremeno bila bolja.
Na to pitanje ne treba ni davat odgovor, jer Hajduk je ipak Hajduk, kroz svih ovih 111 godina. Majstor s mora je jedan. Baš kao što je i Jadranski derbi samo jedan i u tu kategoriju ne mogu upasti ni Šibenik, ni Zadar...
Međutim, Rijeka se diže u zadnje vrijeme, što jest, jest, pa su čak osvojili i titulu prvaka, a Kup su znali osvajati (dvaput) i u Jugoslaviji, krajem sedamdesetih.
Uzlet Riječana
U posljednje vrijeme Rijeka se etablirala kao visoko pozicionirani klub u nekoj novoj, ajmo je tako nazvat, hrvatskoj velikoj četvorici.
Ono što zapravo želimo reći jest: rivali su - nesmiljeni, veliki konkurenti, gledaju jedan drugom u dvorište, a posebno su navijačke skupine Torcida i Armada ratoborne. Međutim, toliko se stručnog i igračkog kadra prelilo iz Rijeke u Hajduk i u obratnom smjeru da naprosto ne možeš vjerovati da su takvi “neprijatelji”, a toliko zajedničkih likova dijele...
Ne znamo točno kad je počelo, ali je znano da je barba Luka Kaliterna, po kome Hajduk nosi ime svoje Akademije, išao pomoći Rijeci kao trener. Iz toga je doba glasovita anegdota kad je kondicijski trener Rijeke vodio zagrijavanje, pa nakon što su se pošteno rastrčali, vratio je momčad Kaliterni da počne nogometni trening. Na što ga je barba Luka ukorio, namrštio obrve i rekao:
- A sad ih vodi doma kad si ih ovako “deštriga” (satra, izneredio, umorio). Ja sad s njima ne mogu ništa. Dođite sutra – duhovit je bio barba Luka.
Sto mu dronova
O tempora, o mores, rekli bi stari Rimljani, kakvih li vremena i običaja u odnosu na danas kad se i dronom nadgleda trening, a uređaji mjere intenzitet vježbanja.
Zanimljivo nam je da je Rijeka često uzimala stručnjake s područja Hajduka i Dalmacije, da spomenemo samo Ljubu Benčića, Jozu Matošića, Vladimira Bearu, Ivana Katalinića, Zorana Vulića, Luku Bonačića, Vjekoslava Lokicu, ali i Zadranina Josipa Skoblara i Mladena Vrankovića (rođen u Rtini), pamtimo i Ivicu Šangulina iz Biograda dok je i sadašnji Goran Tomić, Šibenčanin i zapravo junior Hajduka i mnogi misle da bi on bio to prirodno domaće rješenje za Hajduk samo da se nije vezao za sjever domovine. Zlatko Dalić je bio igrač Hajduka i trener Rijeke. A Ćiro Blažević trener na obje klupe.
Hajduka je pak veselilo uskakati u dvorište tadašnje Kantride, čupao je Nikicu Cukrova, Ivu Jerolimova, Nenada Gračana, pa Igora Musu, sve do braće Ahmada i Anasa Sharbinija ili braće Elvira i Trojana Malokua koji pak, na žalost, nisu ostvarili karijeru kakvu su obećavali. Tu su i Kažo Vulić, Saša Peršon, Mladen Mladenović, Siniša Linić...
(S)tečajna lista
Gdje su ona vremena kad je Hajduk Rijeku doslovce spasio od stečaja kad im je uplatio silnu milijunsku odštetu dovodeći u Poljud braću Sharbini.
Poznat je slučaj kad su se na Kantridi rukovali na centru Tonći Gabrić, kapetan Rijeke i Nenad Gračan, fetivi Fiuman, kapetan (a kasnije i trener) – Hajduka!
Pucale su i kosti
Nećemo o lomovima noga, pegulama što su zadesile u derbijima Gračana, Franka Bogdana, Riječanina Tomljanovića...
U Rijeci su svoju “rijeku snova” poput pjevača Splićanina Nene Belana našli i hajdukovci Filip Bradarić i Franko Andrijašević, sinonimi najjače, šampionske Rijeke. Ranije su kao riječke veličine bili priznati i Željko Mijač, pa Janko Janković i Igor Jelavić. I Tomislav Erceg, golgeter sezone u HNL-u. A u biti su – produkt Hajduka.
- Ja imam super iskustva s jedne i druge iskustva, kad me Hajduk otpisao Rijeka me prihvatila krajem osamdesetih i vratila me u život. Slično je bilo i s mojim sinom Dragom, kad u Poljudu više nisu računali na njega, primila ga je Rijeka. To su moje dvije kuće, Hajduk je prva, a Rijeka druga. Toliko istih faca na obje strane. Rivalstvo je logično, ali volio bih da bude sportski zdravo – poručio je Tonći Gabrić.
