Hrvatska nogometna U-21 reprezentacija ugrozila je plasman na Europsko prvenstvo 2021. godine nakon što je u susretu kvalifikacijske skupine 4 u Velikoj Gorici izgubila od Slovačke sa 1-2.
Bio je to već drugi poraz mladih 'Vatrenih' u četiri odigrane utakmice, pri čemu drugi na domaćem terenu.
Hrvatska je otvorila kvalifikacije domaćim porazom od Škotske (1-2), nakon kojeg je Nenad Gračan dobio otkaz, a momčad je preuzeo Igor Bišćan. U njegovom debiju na klupi mladi 'vatreni' su slavili u San Marinu sa 7-0, a potom u Litvi sa 3-1, međutim u prvoj domaćoj utakmici doživjeli su neugodan poraz od Češke.
Hrvatska je povela golom Luke Ivanušeca u 31. minuti, no Česi su okrenuli rezultat golovima Ladislava Krejčia (39) i Pavela Buche (72).
Mlada hrvatska reprezentacija sjajno je ušla u susret i već u drugoj minuti Petar Musa je imao sjajnu priliku, no njegov udarac je obranio Martin Jedlička. U 19. minuti još bolju priliku je imao Josip Brekalo koji je sam išao prema češkom vrataru, ali je Jedlička još jednom dobro reagirao. Daleko bolju igru Hrvatska je okrunila vodstvom u 31. minuti, a strijelac je nakon sjajnog solo prodora bio Luka Ivanušec.
Nažalost, samo osam minuta kasnije Česi su izjednačili, nakon kornera zabio je Krejči. U drugom dijelu Češka je u potpunosti okrenula rezultat, pogodak za pobjedu zabio je Bucha u 72. minuti iskoristivši zbunjenost Branimira Kalaice i Joška Gvardiola.
U zadnjoj minuti sudačke nadoknade nepotrebno isključenje zaradio je bivši igrač Hajduka Domagoj Bradarić. Lijevi bočni Lillea je u prekidu igre nogom u stražnjicu-međunožje udario protivničkog igrača koji je potrbuške ležao na travnjaku.
Češka je ovom pobjedom preuzela vodstvo na ljestvici sa 11 bodova, Grčka je druga sa 10 bodova, Škotska na trećem mjestu ima osam bodova, a Hrvatska je četvrta sa šest bodova. Slijede Litva (4) i San Marino (0).
Na završni turnir će devet pobjednika skupina i najbolja drugoplasirana reprezentacija, dok će preostalih osam drugoplasiranih razigravati za još četiri mjesta.
Idući nastup hrvatska U-21 reprezentacija će imati 27. ožujka iduće godine u Škotskoj.

Hrvatska nogometna U-21 reprezentacija ugrozila je plasman na Europsko prvenstvo 2021. godine nakon što je u susretu kvalifikacijske skupine 4 u Velikoj Gorici izgubila od Slovačke sa 1-2.
Bio je to već drugi poraz mladih 'Vatrenih' u četiri odigrane utakmice, pri čemu drugi na domaćem terenu.
Hrvatska je otvorila kvalifikacije domaćim porazom od Škotske (1-2), nakon kojeg je Nenad Gračan dobio otkaz, a momčad je preuzeo Igor Bišćan. U njegovom debiju na klupi mladi 'vatreni' su slavili u San Marinu sa 7-0, a potom u Litvi sa 3-1, međutim u prvoj domaćoj utakmici doživjeli su neugodan poraz od Češke.
Hrvatska je povela golom Luke Ivanušeca u 31. minuti, no Česi su okrenuli rezultat golovima Ladislava Krejčia (39) i Pavela Buche (72).
Mlada hrvatska reprezentacija sjajno je ušla u susret i već u drugoj minuti Petar Musa je imao sjajnu priliku, no njegov udarac je obranio Martin Jedlička. U 19. minuti još bolju priliku je imao Josip Brekalo koji je sam išao prema češkom vrataru, ali je Jedlička još jednom dobro reagirao. Daleko bolju igru Hrvatska je okrunila vodstvom u 31. minuti, a strijelac je nakon sjajnog solo prodora bio Luka Ivanušec.
Nažalost, samo osam minuta kasnije Česi su izjednačili, nakon kornera zabio je Krejči. U drugom dijelu Češka je u potpunosti okrenula rezultat, pogodak za pobjedu zabio je Bucha u 72. minuti iskoristivši zbunjenost Branimira Kalaice i Joška Gvardiola.
U zadnjoj minuti sudačke nadoknade nepotrebno isključenje zaradio je bivši igrač Hajduka Domagoj Bradarić. Lijevi bočni Lillea je u prekidu igre nogom u stražnjicu-međunožje udario protivničkog igrača koji je potrbuške ležao na travnjaku.
Češka je ovom pobjedom preuzela vodstvo na ljestvici sa 11 bodova, Grčka je druga sa 10 bodova, Škotska na trećem mjestu ima osam bodova, a Hrvatska je četvrta sa šest bodova. Slijede Litva (4) i San Marino (0).
Na završni turnir će devet pobjednika skupina i najbolja drugoplasirana reprezentacija, dok će preostalih osam drugoplasiranih razigravati za još četiri mjesta.
Idući nastup hrvatska U-21 reprezentacija će imati 27. ožujka iduće godine u Škotskoj.
