Ponekad mi je žao što nisam televizijski novinar.

Da jesam, ovih bih dana od urednika i producenata užicao da dignu jedan od onih fensi-šmensi dronova. Operateru te zgodne sprave nastale u miješanome braku patuljastog helikoptera i filmske kamere, naložio bih da preleti preko splitskoga škvera, preko svih pogona, navoza i dizalica nekadašnje industrijske košnice. I bogami, imao bi što i letjeti.

Jednoga pradavnog ljeta u škveru sam radio punih mjesec i pol, i kroz to vrijeme uspio sam steći samo okvirnu, grubu, odokativnu predodžbu o dimenzijama prostora na kojemu je taj proizvodni kolos smješten. Nisam siguran da je itko od kandidatkinja i kandidata za gradonačelnika Splita ikada prekoračio prag ove tvrtke koja već trideset godina uredno propada. A nitko pametan nije je obilazio s druge strane žice, da se šetnjom uz nju pokuša barem djelomice obavijestiti o gabaritima Brodosplita. To su mogli učiniti samo pregledavanjem zemljopisne karte koja bi im zorno posvjedočila koliki dio splitskoga poluotoka ustvari ne pripada gradu, jer je za sve njegove stanovnike zatvorena zona, kako to već s tvornicama biva.

Ne bih, međutim, rekao da se itko potrudio učiniti čak ni to: osvijestiti veličinu škvera preko papirnate ili digitalne zemljopisne karte. A i zašto bi to radili, kad, kako rekoh, Brodosplit nije imovina Splita i Splićana? Pa evo i odgovora: zato što nitko živ ne zna kakva će biti sudbina ove tvrtke čije je strmopižđivanje zadnjih nekoliko tjedana dobilo na ubrzanju i u kojoj je danas živo kao na groblju.

Zaključna epizoda

Uoči Drugog svjetskog rata, u malešnome Splitu koji je imao četrdeset tisuća stanovnika, na škverskim je navozima radilo 1.100 ljudi. Toliko ih danas ne radi. Osamdeset godina kasnije, u neusporedivo većemu gradu, koji ima pet puta više stanovnika, naše je brodogradilište otprilike na jednakoj razini. Osim što, naravno, nije. Jer, tada je škver radio, a danas sliči ornitološkome rezervatu. Umjesto zaglušujuće buke teške mehanizacije, čuje se samo ljupki cvrkut ptica pjevica koje su utekle od turističkog žamora u jedini mirni – umalo sam rekao djevičanski netaknut - predjel našega grada.

Naravno, nisam ekspert niti za brodogradnju niti za ekonomiju, ali mislim da to čovjek ni ne treba biti da bi naslutio neizbježno: kako se duga agonija poduzeća koje je bilo ponos našega grada, koje ga je othranilo i izgradilo, opasno približava zaključnoj epizodi. Više nije pitanje hoće li škver definitivno kihnuti, nego kad će se to dogoditi, pri čemu sam uvjeren kako se nitko ne bi bio spreman kladiti da ćemo puno čekati na tužnu objavu kraja. A kad se to konačno dogodi, u paketu s posrnulom tvrtkom, pokopat ćemo i pamet Splita. Grad koji je nekoć bio sposoban bez ičije pomoći sa strane, kao na tekućoj vrpci, izbacivati goleme, sofisticirane, brodove, samodostatne morske republike koje su bordižale svim oceanima, morat će se utješiti spoznajom da danas ima neke od najboljih svjetskih mješača koktela i pizzaiola. Tada će, valjda, svima postati jasno kako smo na nešto zaboravili. Nije nam, naime, na vrijeme palo na pamet promisliti što ćemo učiniti s golemim prostorom na kojemu je donedavno ležalo brodogradilište, a koje će, prilično je izvjesno, postati jedno od najatraktivnijih, pa dakle i najskupljih zemljišta na cijelome Mediteranu.

Neprocjenjivi resurs

Ne želim biti ciničan, barem ne previše, ali ova izborna kampanja zgodno je koincidirala s objavom vijesti o vrlo izglednom slomu škveru. I umjesto da kao ključna lokalna tema obilježi višetjedno medijsko pripetavanje kandidata, nitko joj nije posvetio ni slova. Umjesto o neprocjenjivome resursu koji može presudno odrediti budućnost grada - preporoditi, ga ali i unazaditi - debatiralo se o Aleksandri i Milici, sekama koje su stvarne koliko i izgledi Brodosplita da se ikada više osovi na noge. I to je, barem za moj ukus, puno strašnije od onanističke afere koja se prežvakava već danima.

Koga god na koncu izabrali, dobit ćemo krivog, nedoraslog funkciji za koju se natječe, bez ikakve vizije budućnosti Splita i, da se ne lažemo, suštinski nezainteresiranog za posao koji će dobiti, jer ga zanima samo osvajanje moći. Izbornom pobjedniku nisam siguran da bi itko smio zavidjeti, jer u ovih nekoliko tjedna šporke kampanje izlilo se toliko žuči, porušeno je toliko mostova, ukorijenila se tako silna i vrlo osobna mržnja među akterima političke utakmice, da bi sastanci Gradskoga vijeća lako mogli sličiti masovnoj makljaži.

Ponekad mi je žao što nisam televizijski novinar.

Da jesam, ovih bih dana od urednika i producenata užicao da dignu jedan od onih fensi-šmensi dronova. Operateru te zgodne sprave nastale u miješanome braku patuljastog helikoptera i filmske kamere, naložio bih da preleti preko splitskoga škvera, preko svih pogona, navoza i dizalica nekadašnje industrijske košnice. I bogami, imao bi što i letjeti.

Jednoga pradavnog ljeta u škveru sam radio punih mjesec i pol, i kroz to vrijeme uspio sam steći samo okvirnu, grubu, odokativnu predodžbu o dimenzijama prostora na kojemu je taj proizvodni kolos smješten. Nisam siguran da je itko od kandidatkinja i kandidata za gradonačelnika Splita ikada prekoračio prag ove tvrtke koja već trideset godina uredno propada. A nitko pametan nije je obilazio s druge strane žice, da se šetnjom uz nju pokuša barem djelomice obavijestiti o gabaritima Brodosplita. To su mogli učiniti samo pregledavanjem zemljopisne karte koja bi im zorno posvjedočila koliki dio splitskoga poluotoka ustvari ne pripada gradu, jer je za sve njegove stanovnike zatvorena zona, kako to već s tvornicama biva.

Ne bih, međutim, rekao da se itko potrudio učiniti čak ni to: osvijestiti veličinu škvera preko papirnate ili digitalne zemljopisne karte. A i zašto bi to radili, kad, kako rekoh, Brodosplit nije imovina Splita i Splićana? Pa evo i odgovora: zato što nitko živ ne zna kakva će biti sudbina ove tvrtke čije je strmopižđivanje zadnjih nekoliko tjedana dobilo na ubrzanju i u kojoj je danas živo kao na groblju.

Zaključna epizoda

Uoči Drugog svjetskog rata, u malešnome Splitu koji je imao četrdeset tisuća stanovnika, na škverskim je navozima radilo 1.100 ljudi. Toliko ih danas ne radi. Osamdeset godina kasnije, u neusporedivo većemu gradu, koji ima pet puta više stanovnika, naše je brodogradilište otprilike na jednakoj razini. Osim što, naravno, nije. Jer, tada je škver radio, a danas sliči ornitološkome rezervatu. Umjesto zaglušujuće buke teške mehanizacije, čuje se samo ljupki cvrkut ptica pjevica koje su utekle od turističkog žamora u jedini mirni – umalo sam rekao djevičanski netaknut - predjel našega grada.

Naravno, nisam ekspert niti za brodogradnju niti za ekonomiju, ali mislim da to čovjek ni ne treba biti da bi naslutio neizbježno: kako se duga agonija poduzeća koje je bilo ponos našega grada, koje ga je othranilo i izgradilo, opasno približava zaključnoj epizodi. Više nije pitanje hoće li škver definitivno kihnuti, nego kad će se to dogoditi, pri čemu sam uvjeren kako se nitko ne bi bio spreman kladiti da ćemo puno čekati na tužnu objavu kraja. A kad se to konačno dogodi, u paketu s posrnulom tvrtkom, pokopat ćemo i pamet Splita. Grad koji je nekoć bio sposoban bez ičije pomoći sa strane, kao na tekućoj vrpci, izbacivati goleme, sofisticirane, brodove, samodostatne morske republike koje su bordižale svim oceanima, morat će se utješiti spoznajom da danas ima neke od najboljih svjetskih mješača koktela i pizzaiola. Tada će, valjda, svima postati jasno kako smo na nešto zaboravili. Nije nam, naime, na vrijeme palo na pamet promisliti što ćemo učiniti s golemim prostorom na kojemu je donedavno ležalo brodogradilište, a koje će, prilično je izvjesno, postati jedno od najatraktivnijih, pa dakle i najskupljih zemljišta na cijelome Mediteranu.

Neprocjenjivi resurs

Ne želim biti ciničan, barem ne previše, ali ova izborna kampanja zgodno je koincidirala s objavom vijesti o vrlo izglednom slomu škveru. I umjesto da kao ključna lokalna tema obilježi višetjedno medijsko pripetavanje kandidata, nitko joj nije posvetio ni slova. Umjesto o neprocjenjivome resursu koji može presudno odrediti budućnost grada - preporoditi, ga ali i unazaditi - debatiralo se o Aleksandri i Milici, sekama koje su stvarne koliko i izgledi Brodosplita da se ikada više osovi na noge. I to je, barem za moj ukus, puno strašnije od onanističke afere koja se prežvakava već danima.

Koga god na koncu izabrali, dobit ćemo krivog, nedoraslog funkciji za koju se natječe, bez ikakve vizije budućnosti Splita i, da se ne lažemo, suštinski nezainteresiranog za posao koji će dobiti, jer ga zanima samo osvajanje moći. Izbornom pobjedniku nisam siguran da bi itko smio zavidjeti, jer u ovih nekoliko tjedna šporke kampanje izlilo se toliko žuči, porušeno je toliko mostova, ukorijenila se tako silna i vrlo osobna mržnja među akterima političke utakmice, da bi sastanci Gradskoga vijeća lako mogli sličiti masovnoj makljaži.
